Bound by Destiny by Allyson Young (@allysonyoung45)

Bound by DestinyBlurb:

River Fortuna’s wolf is awake and pacing, anticipating their first heat. Traumatized by early misunderstandings of shifter sexuality, River intends to avoid being claimed at all cost. She doesn’t plan on meeting handsome, virile Alpha Jett Reeves.

Jett is instantly drawn to River, his pheromones flooding to trigger her heat and force her sexual surrender, despite her tangible—and unlawful—means of avoidance.

Initially a mindless slave to her hormones, River comes to accept Jett past his ability to assuage her sexual need and falls in love with him. Unable to label his myriad of feelings, Jett doesn’t reciprocate, and she is devastated, realizing she is locked in a lifelong, loveless partnership.

Attacked by a rogue shifter, River wakes with no memory, and Jett must face the fact that what he felt for River all along was love—and find a way to bring her back to him.

Excerpt:

They rode the elevator to the sixth floor in near silence, the eddies of lust making the small space nearly insufferable for him, and his mate leaned against the wall as though she might slip to the floor any moment. Her brow and temples glistened with sweat and her fingers twitched spasmodically. She was coming into her full heat and fighting it all the way.

Stepping off when the doors opened, he strode in the direction the small arrow indicated and found the room within several yards. The key card gave them entrance and he flicked on the light. He shoved the cases just inside the door, blocking the heavy panel with his forearm so it wouldn’t close. “In you go, River.”

Did women trudge? His woman did, despite the trembling of her entire body. His heart ached at her trepidation despite the all-encompassing lust he experienced. Her head down, intense need radiating to pull him in, he threw the deadbolt, and then gave in to what their nature decreed.

Thrusting his hand through her thick mane, his fingers weaving among the long, silky strands just as he’d fantasized, he drew her head back and forced her to look him in the eyes. Hers were dilated, the rich brown irises nearly eclipsed by the stark black of her pupils. Square, white teeth clenched her full bottom lip, presumably to control panting, because she drew draughts of air in through her nose. He could detect the threads of resignation weaving through her vast need, her intense heat rapidly eclipsing any coherent thought. Regret that he’d caused this once again pierced his own narrowly shrinking focus—but only briefly. He lowered his head and took her mouth.

Sweetness and life burst over his senses at his first taste, and he groaned against her full lips even as his tongue made a foray past them. River totally surrendered, as female wolves do when they met their fated mate, and he barely had time for that thought—fated mate—before he wrapped an arm around her limp form. Two steps and they fell to the big bed, the mattress compressing beneath their combined weight as he ravished her mouth. She opened to let him in and gave up all the flavor that was uniquely her.

He reluctantly tore his lips away to rear up and shred the plain shirt that hid her from his view. Her lightly tanned skin filled his vision as her utilitarian bra met the same fate, and he noted with pleasure how modest her tan lines were. His wolf rose up. Mine. The growling claim resounded in the room and her eyes fluttered open and she blinked. Behind the thicket of her dark lashes, a sexual haze again blurred the rich chocolate, and her lids drifted shut.

Once they came to know one another, their coming together could be slowed and savored, but for now, he needed to visibly establish his claim. His frantic cock shuddered in agreement as he demolished the tough denim of her jeans, taking care not to score her soft skin with a claw.

With her nude beneath him, his gaze drawn to the soft, pale fur at her apex, he willed his other-self back, and his claws retracted. Lord knew what she’d seen when she’d stared up at him. Probably a wild-eyed beast intent on its succulent prey, and he blessed the Mother and the mating heat that River hadn’t screamed in fear. Only an alpha could partially shift, and it was unlikely she’d seen one in such a state before.

His own apparel fell away as he quickly stripped and then blanketed his mate’s writhing form. Velvety flesh met his own in a haze of heat and sensation.

“Please.” Her plea was strangled and all the more evocative because of it.

“I’ll take care of you,” he promised. “Always.”

The 250th Sunday Snog in Aid of FPA

250th-banner

Hi everyone,

It’s been a while since I’ve joined in with a Sunday Snog, but since this one is for charity, I couldn’t resist. This event is raising funds for FPA, the sexual charity. So, as well as enjoying all the luscious snogs and entering the fab giveaways, please do consider heading to the JustGiving page and making a donation, which will go directly to FPA. Thank you!

So, without further ado, here’s my snog. I’m sharing a snippet from The Persecution of the Wolves – I thought a paranormal would be most fitting this week 😉 Beware, though, it’s a very hot snog…

When he returned to where he’d left Nathaniel, the other man hadn’t moved from his position on the sofa. He still sat there, his cock softening and a silly grin on his face. “Hey,” he said huskily, seeming to struggle, as though he hadn’t quite regained the ability to speak.

“Hey,” Isaac said, plopping down next to him. “That better?”

“Ooh, yes. But I can make it better still.”

“You can?” Isaac suspected he knew what was coming next, but it was more fun to pretend he didn’t.

“Yep. Come here.” Nathaniel snaked out a hand and gripped the back of Isaac’s neck, pulling him in for a heat-filled, passionate kiss. Their need for each other made them clumsy. Their teeth clashed together, but neither man cared. They continued to kiss hungrily, their tongues dueling for dominance, fighting then dancing together in an erotic movement that had them both gasping for air within seconds. Moving away to drag in precious lungfuls, they gazed at each other before diving back into their kiss.

Isaac cupped Nathaniel’s stubble-covered cheeks and pulled him in harder still, until their lips were pressed so bruisingly together they’d be showing signs for a long time afterward. God, he wanted him. Needed him. At this stage, being sucked off and exploding down Nathaniel’s throat would do, but what he really wanted was to be buried deep inside his arse, fucking him until they both screamed their climaxes.

Kissing the other man until his jaw ached, Isaac pulled away and ran a hand through his hair, enjoying the hungry look on Nathaniel’s face, not to mention the glimpse of his cock, which was hard again despite his recent orgasm.

“Fuck, Nath, I want you.”

Nathaniel grinned, his green eyes glinting and his dimples deepening, threatening to send Isaac into a meltdown. “How do you want me, gorgeous?”

“On your back on the bed. I want to see your face as I fuck you.”

“Fair enough. Race you.” He quickly kicked his trousers and boxers off from around his ankles and scurried, bare-arsed but still wearing his fleece and T-shirt, into the bedroom. Smiling, Isaac jogged after him.

Heir (Wolf-Bound #1) by Rebecca Brochu (@AuthorRBrochu)

HeirBlurb:

In a world where magic makes might Cyril Arlen is the fourth son of the Matriarch of House Arlen, a powerful clan of witch-born.  Uninterested in politics or the pressures associated with his House, Cyril is content to leave it all behind to live a quiet and peaceful life on his own.

Unfortunately not everyone agrees with that choice.

After a decade of peace Cyril is unexpectedly named Heritor to his mother’s position and shoved back into the spotlight against his will.

Now, forced to deal with a power hungry half-brother and the pressures of one day ruling his House, Cyril’s only comfort is Alpha Sinclair Ferus.  Sinclair is duty bound to protect him and happens to be the same man who has fascinated Cyril since he was a child.

Despite his reluctance to accept his new position Cyril finds that having Sinclair around might just make it all worthwhile.

Teaser:

For one tense, almost too long moment, Sinclair was rigid against him, the shoulder beneath his hand as hard as marble. Just as Cyril was prepared to pull back, to stammer an apology and find somewhere to hide until his hurt and humiliation had faded, Sinclair moved.

Alpha in all the ways that mattered, Sinclair took control of the kiss with a barely suppressed snarl. His mouth went from passive to aggressive as his arms came up, one large hand cupped the back of Cyril’s neck firmly while the other arm wrapped itself around his waist. Cyril barely had time to blink before he was tugged even closer to the heat of Sinclair’s frame and desire threatened to completely white out his thoughts.

There was a low rumbling growl building in Sinclair’s chest, Cyril could feel it with as close as they were pressed together. Caught up in his lust Cyril couldn’t help but try and press even closer to him. The arm around his waist was a band of steel that clutched him tightly as Sinclair’s tongue swept into his mouth to tangle with his own. Sinclair tasted of mint and hints of spice, chai like the tea he drank in the afternoons.

The arm around his waist moved then. Sinclair’s hand trailed down across his waist and his lower back only to pause long enough to squeeze his ass for a brief moment. Then, with a flex of muscle, Cyril found himself hoisted in the air so that he could wrap his legs around Sinclair’s tapered waist. He groaned at the sensations the new position invoked, at the way Sinclair’s hips fit so nicely between his thighs, even as Sinclair shifted them until Cyril felt a wall at his back.

Sinclair broke the kiss a few seconds later only to nip sharply at Cyril’s bottom lip and duck down so he could mouth wetly at the curve of his throat. Cyril didn’t hesitate to tip his head back as far as he could against the wall behind him, purposefully baring his throat.

Sinclair made a rough growling noise and then his mouth seemed to be everywhere. He sucked harshly at Cyril’s pulse point, ran his tongue across the throbbing vein, nipped at the sensitive skin until Cyril knew he’d have marks. He also knew what the willing and open baring of a throat meant to a wolf.

Trust.

Surrender.

Submission.

“Hey, Scarlett, you want to know why Wade’s scrutinizing every chick that passes?”

Scarlett perked up. “Why?”

Wade frowned at the incubus’s teasing tone. “What? I’m hungry.”

An amused smile spread across Somer’s handsome face. “Wade’s soulmate is supposed to be here tonight. Come on, Wade. You don’t really believe what that hag in Miami said, do you?”

“What hag?” Scarlett looked back and forth at the two of them.

Wade stuck his hands in his jean pockets and kicked at some litter on the ground. “No.”

It had been a mistake to pop into the psychic’s shop while he’d been with Somer at Ultra Music Festival in Miami. But, at the time, he’d been a little drunk and high himself because he’d fed on the blood of several people who’d been under the influence. Getting his fortune read had seemed like a bit of random fun. But when he’d sat down with the woman at her velvet-covered table and spread the colorful tarot cards out before her, her eyes and tone had pierced him with their gravity.

The candles in the sconces on the wall behind her had made her head seem like it was a floating oracle—probably because he’d been high—and it had mesmerized him. “You are going to have an unusually long life,” she’d said glancing at his palm. “And you will have no lack of good health.”

Somer, sitting next to him, had started sniggering at that point.

Then she looked at the cards on the table. “You’ve had a happy life so far, but you want more,” she said. “A while ago, something inside you led you to seek an unusual path. But this path is not as wonderful as you expected it to be. Something is missing.” Her long bony fingers had stroked at the images on the cards as though she were receiving messages by touching them.

Somer’s sniggering increased in volume, and the psychic had pinned him with her large milky eyes. In a low voice she’d asked him to wait outside because he was disrupting the flow of energy. He’d left without protest, and the psychic had proceeded with Wade’s reading. That’s when she’d gone into greater detail about his current life and his future. She’d commented on his constant travel, his small circle of tight-knit friends, and the loneliness he felt now. He hadn’t said a word to confirm or deny anything, but she’d been right. Vampires tended not to stay in any one place too long. And paranormal creatures tended to be loners, which meant it was difficult to make friends. At the time, Wade had been dwelling on the fact that the last remnants of his human life were fading away. The remainder of his human friends and relatives had died at the beginning of the year, and he no longer had anyone to look in on.

It wasn’t something he ever talked about, so having a stranger home in on his deepest feelings had made them even more real and depressing.

The psychic had swept away the first batch of cards and laid more down. She smiled as she gestured to a cluster of three with yellow backgrounds and pictures involving smiling people holding cups. “Things are going to change for the better. Happiness is on its way.”

He’d perked up at that and hope had streaked through him. He hadn’t realized how much he’d needed it until that moment, however ridiculous the whole thing was.

She flipped another card over. “You’re going to meet your soulmate.” She flipped two more cards over. “Yes. In June, at a place you’ve been before. There will be a lot of people there.”

There was only one place that could be. Here, at the twentieth anniversary of EDC. The reading had ended after that, and a stunned Wade had walked out and told Somer everything. Big mistake. He would never hear the end of it.

He knew the whole psychic thing was a bunch of bullshit. They were notorious liars. It was just that that damn jag of hope had taken root inside him. As the days had passed, curiosity had sprouted from it, one that demanded to be satisfied. And now he couldn’t stop himself from looking at all the girls the way he was. Would he know it was her on sight?

“What hag?” Scarlett asked again.

Somer filled her in than smirked and asked, “Do vampires even believe in love?”

Wade glared at him.

“Why wouldn’t they?” Scarlett said, her brown eyes filled with compassion. “Love is amazing. There’s no reason vampires should spend eternity without it. You just haven’t felt it yet, Somer.” Her face lit up as she said, “Someday you’ll see. It’s so powerful and freeing. Nick and I couldn’t imagine ever being apart. Even after all this time, it’s like I can still feel him.” A smile flashed across her pretty face. She was becoming more opaque, the wispy pale traces of her features were filling out and taking on healthy human colors. Her creamy skin was kissed with just a hint of sun, and her brown eyes were kind. Her clothing was the same outfit she’d died in, jean cutoff shorts and a fringed bikini top. She solidified every year on the anniversary of her death.

“So did this soothsayer give you any details at all? Did she describe the woman or tell you how you were going to meet?” Somer persisted.

“Nah, she just said I would meet my soulmate here.” Wade answered Somer’s teasing question for Scarlett’s benefit. Somer had only given her a short synopsis.

“What about a time? Did she give you a time?”

Scarlett shook her head. “You can be a real rascal sometimes, Somer.”

Wade’s fist streaked out in a blur to punch Somer in the gut.

“Oof!” Somer cringed back, hands pressed to his midsection. But the blow failed to wipe the smile off his face.

“No, she didn’t. Besides, if she was right—and I doubt that she is—I don’t have to look for her. She’ll come to me.” Wade shrugged. “Whatever. Let’s head over to Kinetic Field. DJ Momo is coming on soon.”

He turned and began walking, the other two trailing behind him. And, as the last glow of sunlight disappeared, Scarlett completed her shift into solid form.

Alpha Bitch by LoraLynne Summers (@LL_Summers)

Alpha BitchHello!  Thank you for having me today! I’m so excited to share my new release, Alpha Bitch, with you. This story was a bit of a surprise to me. I never expected to write a shifter story. Vampires, yes – I’ve got more than one vampire story in the unfinished files – but I learned early on not to fight my muse and just go with it. I have to say, I am quite pleased with the results.

I don’t know exactly where the idea came from. I can say that I was listening to a lot of Elle King, and the song Ex’s & Oh’s is basically Cassie’s theme song – it’s that “I don’t give a shit what you think of me” and “I’m not taking your shit” attitude that influenced the creation of Cassie. Currently there aren’t any sequels planned for this, but with being a shifter story, which involves packs, there are plenty of secondary characters to work with. So while it’s not a series at the moment, the possibility is there. I do have the feeling that there’s a story lurking out there, I just don’t know who it’s about, lol.

Cassandra is nothing if not resourceful. Outsmarting River Run is just one piece of the prize to be won if she can pull off the coup of century while keeping everyone important still breathing.

*****

Excerpt:

Before she could convince her wolf to turn around—because she really didn’t want to have to take control and force a shift, leaving her bare-assed while traipsing through the cool woods at night—Kieran came into view. He stopped short at the end of the path.

Her heart, among other parts of her body, warmed at the sight of him. Water dripped from his long hair and ran down his bare chest to disappear beneath the band of his jeans.

“Cassie,” he said, surprise evident in his tone.

Against her better intentions, she walked over to him and rubbed against his leg.

“You shouldn’t be here,” he whispered. Regardless of his words, his hand traveled down her back, stroking her fur as she wound around him. If she were a cat she would have purred, the sensation felt so good. He smelled fresh and clean, as if he’d been bathing in the river. He fell to his knees, and she stood in front of him with her head resting on his shoulder.

“Do you need something?”

She whined in response and nuzzled him.

Kieran’s arms came around her neck and he buried his face in her fur.

“We can’t, Cassandra.” He pulled away and held the sides of her head gently, staring into her eyes. His own were nearly completely gold, as close as his wolf could get to the surface. “You have to go. You have to forget about me. Find another.” His voice was hard.

She whimpered, responding to the authority within him and nearly giving in to the command. The reaction both amazed her and pissed her off at the same time. Cassie’s wolf shook her head and stomped a foot.

“Yes. Go. Now.” Kieran stood and stepped back.

Cassie shifted, heedless of her naked body, and stepped forward, reaching for him. Kieran’s jaw clenched and he swallowed hard before turning his back on her.

“Go, Cassandra. It’s for your own good, and the good of our pack. Go,” he said over his shoulder, entering his cabin without another look at her.

With an indignant huff, Cassie turned and stalked away, hoping he was taking a good long look at what he was rejecting.

*****

Excerpt:

I should call Mick. He was bound to start worrying. And it wasn’t like she didn’t want to hear his voice. She was just worried the distance of a phone call would actually make her feel worse. You’re stalling. But calling herself out on her cowardice didn’t seem to be working this time.

Ali nearly jumped out of her skin when someone knocked loudly on her door.

She tightened her arms around herself and looked toward the locked door. Would it be Warner again?

“This isn’t over, Ali,” Warner had said with one hand on the door handle. Whether he’d actually said it as a threat or she’d simply heard it is as one she’d never know. But it’d been nearly half an hour since that conversation and he didn’t strike her as patient.

I wish these doors had peepholes. She didn’t understand why those things weren’t standard. But sitting alone on her bed wasn’t going to chase away whoever was at the door. Just answer it, tell them off, and then call Mick. He was surely waiting. It’d been a few minutes now since the announcement that the impromptu lockdown was over and they were all free to roam about the ship again. There was even the chance, she supposed, that the person at the door was Mick.

That was the thought that finally propelled her to her feet.

Still, her stomach clenched as she slid back the deadbolt. Just a peek. Mick was probably waiting by his phone. Why would he be worried about her?

It was a long moment before Allison realized she was staring into concerned green eyes. Gorgeous, familiar green eyes. She almost felt like crying. Almost.

“Mick?” As if that face could belong to anyone else.

“Ali,” he said on an exhale. There was an echo of fear in that voice. “I was worried.”

Her heart swelled and she opened the door properly, managing a smile. “Come inside,” she said. She didn’t want to be out and about in her hall at the moment.

Mick didn’t need to be asked twice. He stepped in, waited for her to shut the door, and then promptly pulled her by the hips up to his chest. He found her lips hungrily and she moaned as his tongue slipped into her mouth.

Ali curved her arms around his shoulders, letting one hand thread its way into his hair as their tongues danced. There was something in this kiss. Something more than attraction and opportunity. And whatever it was, she liked it. Wanted to lose herself in it.

Which was probably why he released her lips moments later.

“Are you okay?” he asked, his voice thick and his hands still heavy on her hips. Possessive. Comforting.

Stupid tears threatened her eyes for a moment but she fought them back and rested her head on Mick’s strong shoulder. Lie. Tell him yes.

“What’s wrong, baby?” This question was soft, washing right through her, punctuated by the arms he wrapped around her waist.

She hadn’t really wanted to lie to him, anyway.
