WREN
Easy, cowboy.
I grip his hand, keeping him from tilting my head to expose my neck.
Knowing what he wants, I’m not about to give it to him. Like most men—possibly all—he needs to learn some manners, self-control, and think of others besides himself.
I’m up to the task, liking what I’ve experienced with him so far.
I press my lips to his. They’re softer than I guessed. Warmer, too, considering he’s a vamp. And his scent… Wow. Something fresh, clean, and aquatic. Partly cologne. Mainly him.
Excitement bubbles up. I don’t deny it.
My pussy creams at his bristly cheeks. I like how he holds me. Firmly, like he means business, yet respectfully, too, no longer wanting to suck me dry.
I can live with that. To be honest, I crave it.
Deep down, I must be a hopeless romantic.
His self-control doesn’t hurt matters, while the previous pain and longing in his eyes touches me in ways I understand better than he likely knows. It’s also the reason I suck his tongue into my mouth and rub my ass against his stiffened cock.
Damn, he’s hard.
I tremble at the promise of his dick pleasuring, using, owning me, when I shouldn’t. Behaving like this, especially at work, isn’t my thing. Except, he’s a kindred soul, hating eternity as much as I do.
How could I pass that up?
He dips me to the right and cradles my boob.
Ah. Pleasure rolls through me, awakening need I’ve denied. I surrender all caution to the faint pulse beating within my passage and to my aching clit. It wants more of his kiss.
He angles his head and dips his tongue deeper into my mouth.
Slavishly, I suckle and taste him as much as I can, enjoying his flavor…something mystical and required, like a breath or a heartbeat. Whether that’s the vampire in him, I don’t know or care. His skilled touch proves he hasn’t been a virgin for quite a while. I’m guessing he’s in his late twenties…totally in his prime.
He pulls his mouth free and sucks my earlobe.
It tickles. I giggle.
He gathers me as close as possible, his face in my hair, his muscles tense either from passion, the pain of controlling himself, or both.
Damn, I want to hurt whoever turned him and stole his joy. Deep down, I sense he didn’t have a say in what he became any more than I did being born a witch. By human standards, I’m only twenty-three and already bored shitless with each new, never-ending day in my eternal existence.
Magic’s cool when it’s a fresh experience, mainly during my toddler years. Afterward, every spell’s the same old, same old.
I can conjure any material thing I want, which leaves nothing to strive for. Especially the important stuff…like love. Without breaking a sweat, I can put a spell on a man to adore me, but his devotion won’t be real. I can concoct a potion to fill me with whatever knowledge I want then get a high-powered job I don’t deserve.
Magic isn’t awesome. It’s a fucking curse.

Tina’s an Amazon and international bestselling novelist who writes passionate romance for every taste – ‘heat with heart’ – for traditional publishers and indie. Booklist, Publisher’s Weekly, Romantic Times and numerous online sites have praised her work. She’s won Readers’ Choice Awards, was named a finalist in the EPIC competition, received a Book of the Year award, The Golden Nib Award, awards of merit in the RWA Holt Medallion competitions, and second place in the NEC RWA contests. She’s featured in the Novel & Short Story Writer’s Market. Before penning romances, she worked at a major Hollywood production company in Story Direction.
On a less serious note: she’s an admitted and unrepentant chocoholic, brakes for Mexican restaurants, and has been known to moan like Meg Ryan in When Harry Met Sally while wolfing down tostadas. She’s flown a single-engine airplane (freaking scary), rewired an old house using an ‘electricity for dummies’ book, and is horribly shy despite the hot romances she writes.
