I Kissed a Girl in Vegas by Scarlet Chastain (@ScarletChastain)

ikissedagirlinvegas1lHello Lucy! Thank you for having me over for a visit to share my new release, I Kissed a Girl in Vegas.

Sexy destinations are the perfect backdrop for a romantic story. My last two books, Bella Key and Little Black Dress, were set in Key West and Paris. I loved using the uniqueness of the settings to drive the story forward. For example, Maddie starts her journey to self-discovery at a cute B&B on Bella Key owned by Sunny when she stops for directions. Giselle teaches Jamie to speak French during visits to a sidewalk café in Paris in Little Black Dress.

Las Vegas is the backdrop of the first book in my new series, I Kissed a Girl. It’s the perfect setting for Tessa Walker to fulfill her secret fantasy. Want a peek? Here’s the opening of I Kissed a Girl in Vegas…

I kissed a girl.

My arrow doesn’t point straight like a stick of uncooked spaghetti. Nope. It curves in beautiful shapes and colors, like strokes of paint on an artist’s canvas. Let’s face it, you can’t always choose what turns you on. I know because I’ve tried, damn it.

Take Nathan, for example. He was the textbook perfect catch. Good job, great dresser, polite, and hey, he seemed to like me a lot. My friends were already fighting over the maid of honor position in our wedding because on the surface we were the perfect couple. And we were…except in bed. It wasn’t as though I didn’t give it the old college try, either. Shit, I deserved an Academy Award for the act I put on during sex with Nathan. My moans, fingernail digs, passionate kisses, deep breaths and even a few name screams, were as much for my own benefit as his.

You see, I wanted to love Nathan. I wanted to love sex with Nathan. I wanted to meet my girlfriends for drinks and share my own earth shattering orgasm stories. After all, I’ve heard more of their stories than I care to remember. Sadly, the only breath-catching Os going on in my apartment happened solo when my arrow was free to bend in a different direction, to a fantasy I never dared to share. The fantasy where…well, why don’t I start at the beginning…when I kissed a girl.

For more of Tessa’s fantasy, including a hot under the table restaurant scene, check out I Kissed a Girl in Vegas. There’s kissing in it. xoxo

Excerpt from “Mermaids and Mosaics.”

Lydia watched Abby as she hustled out of the solarium. It was nice having her here. Almost without thinking, she walked toward the ladder, intent on seeing what it was Abby had created. Guilt warred with need and need won out. Standing under the skylight, Lydia looked up. Her eyes scanned over the piece and she sucked in a sharp intake of air. She was staring at her own face. The mermaid was her. Tears stung her eyes.

“Why would you make a mosaic of me?” She whispered. A single tear slid down her face.

She didn’t hear Abby come back into the room until it was too late. She stood in the doorway, a fresh shirt and sweats hugging her compact body, making her as irresistible now as she had been when they first met. Their eyes met and Lydia gasped. She was caught.

Excerpt from “Pumpernickel”

“I’m sorry, Mistress. Please forgive this girl for acting out in her frustration.” Libby got down from the chair and sank down in front of Miriam. The wooden floor was cool against the bare skin of her legs and her knees protested as they hit the edge of the area rug.

Miriam stared down at Libby, an icy frown freezing her face into an immovable mask. “Crawl to the corner.” She fished in her pocket and pulled out a penny. “Against the wall with your nose. If that penny falls, then your punishment goes up. Five minutes.”

Libby knelt in the corner. Her nose held up the penny and her mind raced. What would she do to her? Forgetting about the rejection, she focused on her Mistress and how to account  for her impertinence. Libby was concentrating so hard on mashing her nose against the wall, she almost didn’t hear Miriam return.

“Alright. Time’s up. Come over here and pull down your shorts. I have a bottom to tan.”

Desire coursed through Libby’s center as she slid her panties and shorts off and onto the floor.

Writing short erotic romance:

Writing short erotic romance is a fun way to keep writing and have a plethora of stories to excite the reader. In Sweet Seductions I explore life on a cruise ship, derby girl antics on and off the playing field, a crochet class I would want to attend and an author who gets a taste of what discipline and hard work can mean when her Mistress takes on her attitude.

When I first began my writing career I started with a novel and found it to be a bit too much. Then I read an interesting thought by Ray Bradbury. If you write one short story a week, sooner or later you won’t be terrible. I’ve taken his words to heart and am almost always pounding away at the keyboard composing this or that, slowing gaining in word count to write a much larger work, all the while enjoying the path less taken so to speak.

All writers have different paths to find their way. Short erotic romance was mine and I couldn’t be happier. Story after story, I meet more fans, create new worlds to explore and have a marvelous time finding out just what people are dying to read about.

What sorts of erotic romance do you like? What do you want to see more of?

My Sexy Saturday #31 – My Sexy Howl #MySexySaturday

My Sexy Saturday

Welcome back to My Sexy Saturday. This is where writers post either 7 words, 7 sentences or 7 paragraphs from their published work or work in progress, sticking to the week’s theme. This week’s theme is my sexy howl – so shifters. I thought this would be the perfect opportunity to share a snippet from one of my older releases – F/F erotic romance, The Cottage in the Woods.

“No.” Heidi knew the next words on her lips should be, “But I do have a very comfortable sofa” but somehow she couldn’t force herself to say them.

“Oh. I guess I’ll just have to bunk in with you then. It’ll be like a girly sleepover! Not that I’ve ever been to one…” she tailed off, dropping her gaze to the floor.

“You haven’t?” Heidi asked, desperate to know what had made this beautiful girl look so sad. “Why not?”

“I could never risk falling asleep near humans. I often wake up in animal form, and that would be pretty difficult to explain. Not everyone’s as understanding as you.” Ava put her hand on the other woman’s arm and gave her a warm smile. Heidi’s heart leapt.

“Well,” Heidi replied, covering Ava’s hand with her own and giving it a squeeze, “whatever you wake up as is fine with me. Except maybe a spider. I won’t be held responsible for my own actions if I wake up with a spider in my bed.”

Both girls laughed. Then, hoping against hope she hadn’t misread the signs, Heidi linked her fingers with Ava’s and stood. “Come on,” she said. Her voice sounded husky. “Let’s get this sleepover show on the road.”

Ava followed without protest; eagerly in fact, and Heidi started to realize this was really going to happen. It was like something out of a fairy tale. She’d been all alone, then a hot girl who happened to be a shapeshifter turned up in her garden. All the signs pointed towards Ava liking her in that way, and now, she was happily going to bed with her. Heidi shook her head in disbelief, then sped up. After all, if it was a dream, she didn’t want to wake up before the good part.

My Sexy Saturday #30 – Make Sexy #MySexySaturday

My Sexy Saturday

Welcome back to My Sexy Saturday. This is where writers post either 7 words, 7 sentences or 7 paragraphs from their published work or work in progress, sticking to the week’s theme. This week’s theme is one sexy lady. I’m sharing another snippet from Sweet Spot, my lesbian sports romance novella from Ellora’s Cave, which will help you extend that awesome Wimbledon feeling, as it’s about tennis players!

“Y-yes?” My tone was high, surprised, and I had to resist the temptation to cover myself up.

“Are you all right all the way over here? You look a little lonely.”

She was so close now that her right arm pressed against my left, and scorching heat traveled from that spot and zipped through my entire body. There was no other possible explanation—she was definitely trying to kill me via random orgasm.

“L-lonely?” Why the hell did she think I was lonely? Because I hadn’t taken the shower right next to hers? Surely she knew the etiquette? It was like men in bathrooms—they wouldn’t take a urinal next to another guy unless it was the only one that was free. It was just the way things were. Plus I’d been doing a similar sort of thing for months, and she was just picking up on it now?

“Yeah, lonely. I thought perhaps you wanted some…company.” She practically purred the words at me, and I could almost hear the cogs in my brain turning and clicking into place. Eventually my mind offered up a solution.

She’s coming on to you.

What? No, she couldn’t be. Could she?

My Sexy Saturday #29 – One Sexy Lady #MySexySaturday

My Sexy Saturday

Welcome back to My Sexy Saturday. This is where writers post either 7 words, 7 sentences or 7 paragraphs from their published work or work in progress, sticking to the week’s theme. This week’s theme is one sexy lady. I’m sharing another snippet from Sweet Spot, my lesbian sports romance novella from Ellora’s Cave, which will help you extend that awesome Wimbledon feeling, as it’s about tennis players!

Taking a couple of healthy gulps of the drink in my hand, I hoped the booze would kick in soon and give me just enough of a buzz to loosen my tongue. But not so much that I thought karaoke and dancing on the tables was a good idea. Not that this do had karaoke—it was much too classy. Or at least it was classy at the moment—it was still early. I’d never been to a party full of world-famous athletes before. Perhaps things got messy after a while. I guessed I’d find out soon enough.

I glanced around the room, trying to look as though I belonged, as though I didn’t feel as awkward as fuck waiting for my crush to return. My gaze was drawn back to Nadia, so I let it be. She had her back to me, anyway, and I drank in the sight of her, her long brunette hair free from its constraints for once. And as for the knee-length black dress and strappy silver heels…well, let’s just say they made her look so gorgeous it hurt.

By the time she came back, I only had a tiny bit of my liquid courage left, so I finished it, put the glass down on a nearby table and took the one she offered with a smile.

“Thanks.”

She shrugged. “No problem. It’s not as if I paid for it. So, what did you think of today?”

“Um, well, it was great that Travis won, obviously…” I didn’t know what else to say. How could I discuss this subject without mentioning her knock-out?

“Hey, you don’t have to sugarcoat it, V. I had the women’s title within my grasp and I blew it. But I’m not bitter. Sasha Cross deserved to win. She played better than I did. It looks as if I’m not leaving the academy any time soon. Not least ‘til I’ve got a Grand Slam title under my belt. Hopefully that’ll be the Australian Open.”

My heart leaped and a warm feeling permeated through my body. I hadn’t thought of it like that. Yes, being beaten in the final was shit for Nadia, but brilliant for me. It removed some of the urgency from my plan, certainly. And if I got my head out of my arse and got on with it—and everything went my way, of course—we could have a few months together before she had to leave the country for any length of time.

My Sexy Saturday #29 – Sexy Delight #MySexySaturday

My Sexy Saturday

Welcome back to My Sexy Saturday. This is where writers post either 7 words, 7 sentences or 7 paragraphs from their published work or work in progress, sticking to the week’s theme. This week’s theme is sexy delight. I’m sharing a snippet from my brand new release, Sweet Spot, my lesbian sports romance novella from Ellora’s Cave, which will help you extend that awesome Wimbledon feeling, as it’s about tennis players!

Bringing myself back to the present, I pulled out my racket before dumping the rest of my stuff in my locker. Then I checked my laces and my hair—two things that could totally screw up a game if they weren’t right—and walked deeper into the area to see if there was anyone around who wanted to knock a few balls around. It was oddly deserted, and the only sound was a shower. I wasn’t about to barge in there, so I turned to leave. There was bound to be someone around. Just as I passed the little corridor that housed the showers, the spray was turned off and after a slight pause a figure stepped out.

I barely prevented my mouth from gaping open as I realized it was Nadia standing there in nothing but a miniscule white towel. Her long legs were on display from upper thigh, and I had to work hard to rein in my lust. Forcing a smile, I said, “Hello, Nadia. How’s it going?”

Returning my smile, she moved past me and toward her locker. She retrieved her bag and began pulling out everything she needed to get dressed. “Hey. I’m good, thanks. What about you? Glad to get back to training?”

As she spoke, she shamelessly dropped her towel and carried on as normal. And why wouldn’t she? It was a women’s changing room, after all. Nudity happened in here all the time. The worst part was that I’d known it was going to happen, yet I still hadn’t managed to prepare myself for the sight.

“U-uh, yes. Really glad. I’m just about to head out onto the courts to see if anyone wants to play. You’re the only one in here.”

“Huh. I guess it makes sense, though—after the Open, a lot of players and coaches head out to see family, take vacations for a couple weeks. Then they get back to it.”

I’d fixed my gaze firmly on her face just after she’d dropped the towel and, as a result, was clinging on to my sanity. Just. “Yeah, I never thought of that. So how come you haven’t taken a vacation?”
