Have fun!

My snog is from my M/F erotic romance novella, City Nights: One Night in Budapest. The female character, Hermione, is visiting the Hungarian capital in the winter and it’s cold and snowing. You can’t tell that from the snog, but I promise they’re technically snogging in the snow!

*****

“I will definitely recommend Budapest to people. I must confess, I am only here because I got a good deal, but now my eyes have been well and truly opened. If people are only visiting western European cities, they are seriously missing out. Mind you, they won’t all have such a wonderful tour guide, will they?”

“No,” he replied, slowing the car and pulling over at the side of the road, “they won’t.” Engaging the handbrake and taking the car out of gear, he turned to her with a cheeky grin. “You are very lucky. I don’t take just any girls out for sightseeing trips at midnight.”

Midnight? Shit, he was right, too. A glance at the clock on the car’s dashboard showed it was 23:58. “Wow! I didn’t realise it was that late! Well, they say time flies when you’re having fun.”

Emil nodded, and edged a little closer. “Yes, I think so. And does time also fly when you have the best tour guide on the planet?”

“You’re just fishing for compliments now, Emil,” she shot back with a smile.

“Maybe. Okay, I will settle for a kiss instead, then, if you will let me.”

Let him? Bloody hell, she’d been hoping for a kiss for a good couple of hours, at least. Trying to keep her cool, she bobbed her head up and down. “Yes, Emil, I will let you. I would like it very much, in fact.”

He responded by unclipping his seatbelt, followed by hers. Then, shuffling as close as the centre console would allow, he reached out and slipped his hand gently behind her neck. They’d both removed their hats, scarves and gloves once they got in the car, but his hand was still warm on her skin, sending further heat zinging through her veins.

Slowly, Emil closed the gap between them. Hermione’s heart raced, and by the time their lips actually contacted, it threatened to burst right out of her chest. Fisting her hands briefly to try and get a grip of herself, she then wrapped her arms around Emil’s neck.

His lips were soft and warm, the kiss itself gentle, yet supremely sexy. Emil used just the right amount of tongue—nothing too forceful, or too wet, yet he explored her mouth with a skill and sensuality that made her head spin. His other hand toyed with her hair, sending delicious shivers skittering up and down her spine.

For several long moments, they were lost in each other—their tongues twisting, battling, dancing. Then, before things got too heated, Hermione gently disentangled with a whoosh of breath.

“Phew!” She giggled, and fanned herself exaggeratedly. “That was some kiss, Emil. Look!” She pointed at the windscreen. “We’ve even managed to steam up the windows.”

Even in the dim light cast from streetlamps some metres away, she could see the lust etched onto Emil’s face, and a thrill rushed through her. She felt just the same, felt as though she could clamber right into the backseat of the car and get naked, but she had no intention of doing so. Not when there was a perfectly nice hotel just a few minutes’ car ride away, and the lack of risk of getting caught.

Seeming to shake off his arousal, or at least dampen it down, Emil looked at the windscreen, and laughed. “Yes,” he switched on the ignition and then the heaters, “we have. I had better get rid of that before people think we are up to naughty things in here.”

The tone of his voice told her that he was just as eager to do those “naughty things” as she was, and she had a feeling that she wouldn’t be returning to her hotel room alone that night.

Saturday Spankings #112 – My mouth watered. #SatSpanks

Saturday Spankings-467x200Hi everyone,

Welcome to Saturday Spankings, which is where authors post eight-ish sentences of a spanking on their blogs. I’m sharing another snippet from Grand Slam this week, I hope you enjoy it! I’ll probably be switching to something else in the next couple of weeks or so, so make the most of Travis while you can 😉

Grand SlamI was a selfish git, yes, but it’s how I was when a woman got under my skin.

I licked my lips, trying to imagine her taste, the need for it burning a hole right through me. I could smell her arousal filtering up through the warm air, lacing my nostrils like musky syrup. My mouth watered.

I was hot, hot and turned-the-hell-on. It was tempting to keep fingering her, to bring her to climax right here, right now. The heat around my fingers, the soft wet noises were torturing my cock. It would be so easy, she was so up for it.

I hope you enjoyed that snippet! You can buy the book here. And then see the below list to hop to the other authors taking part…

My Sexy Saturday #139 – She could be a thief. #MySexySaturday

My Sexy Saturday

Welcome back to My Sexy Saturday! This is where writers post either 7 words, 7 sentences or 7 paragraphs from their published work or work in progress. I’m sharing another snippet from my co-authored novel, The Billionaire and the Wild Man. I hope you enjoy it!

The Billionaire and the Wild ManI look around, half-expecting to see an angry husband chasing after her, or maybe even a shopkeeper. She could be a thief. Glancing at her again, I realize that can’t possibly be the case, unless she’s stolen something invisible. All she has are the clothes on her back.

She still hasn’t spoken, so I try again, attempting to make myself appear friendly, welcoming. Not an easy thing when you’re over six feet tall and pretty wide, too. Also, the fact I haven’t had a change of clothes, shave, or a haircut for a while won’t help.

Shari Elder (@ShariElderBooks) Stops by to Talk Villains!

Menage a Villain

I love a good villain, don’t you?

But they can be so hard to find! The best villains don’t see themselves as villains and it is this moral blind spot that enables their evil. Their ability to nuance their ethics – make their actions understandable, even sympathetic, is what makes them so downright scary. Like lovers, villains make our hero and/or heroine a better person by forcing them to confront and overcome their weaknesses, while surviving in the face of endless challenges.

Looking at the villains I can’t forget, I see a set of common characteristics:

  • They are on a mission, even if we don’t agree with it.
  • They often lead a pack. Their ability to motivate their people, care for them even if that care is twisted, reveals that nuanced reality.
  • Their words, mannerisms, looks, intellect, all would be drop dead sexy if their bad wasn’t so truly bad.

My two hands down favorites are Hans Gruber, excellently depicted by Alan Rickman, in the film Die Hard and John Harrison/Khan, played to perfection by Benedict Cumberbatch in Star Trek into Darkness.

Hans Gruber glides off the elevator in a custom-tailored, Savile Row suit, followed by a horde of to-die-for bad boys in tight black t-shirts to execute the ultimate burglary. Within minutes on the screen, he had me at, “I could talk about men’s fashion and industrialization all day but I’m afraid work must intrude.” He is clever, quick, charming and a total snake.

Cumberbatch’s Khan is convinced of the rightness of his superiority.  As ruthless as he is, he had my heart clenching in my chest when he admitted his commitment to his crew. Remember this line? “My crew is my family, Kirk. Is there anything you would not do for your family?”

A family man, but also a cold-blooded ruthless psychopath. Who didn’t shiver when he said to Spock, “I will target your life support systems located behind the aft nacelle. And after every single person aboard your ship suffocates, I will walk over your cold corpses to recover my people.”

Gotta love him. So, when I write villains these are my role models, what I aspire to create.

In my latest release, Race to Redemption, my goal is to build an equally nuanced villain. Tij Pardahl is an alien species, which is gender neutral at rest, but shifts into male or female during sex. They socially organize in threesomes. I show Tij’s complexity through the love scenes—nurturing protectiveness yet with ruthless chill. I actually hadn’t planned to do it that way, but Tij insisted.  Characters do want their own way.

Who are your favorite villains?

Race to RedemptionRace to Redemption Blurb

A woman who lost everything.

Intergalactic storm racing champion Elaina Carteret had it all – fame, wealth, men – until a horrific accident took it away. To get it back, she agrees to pose as Lainie Carter, medical transport pilot and corporate spy. Her risk-taking attitude infuriates Dr. Erik Johansen, who runs the outpost with an iron hand, a permanent scowl and the tightest bod on the planet.

A man desperate for redemption.

Unable to forgive himself for a past tragedy, Erik works himself into an early grave. He has no patience for the insubordinate Lainie Carter, who can’t take an order, disrupts routine and flames his body to ash.

A planet at risk.

When the outpost is attached, they’re thrown together in a race across the desert to stop a deadly biogenetic weapon As a fragile trust blossoms between two damaged hearts, their pasts resurface and threaten their growing bond.

Be warned:  anal sex, bondage, menage sex, gender neutral characters.

About Shari Elder

Hello, I’m Shari. By day, I crawl out of bed, mainline coffee, walk the dog, get my kid off to school, hop on the metro, and save cities within the four walls of my office. Usually by email.

At night, the other Shari emerges.  I take off the suit, curl up on the couch and let my imagination play, with words and images until stories take shape (while periodically checking on my teen-ager, hiding out in the bedroom and plotting world domination).  As my alter ego, I save cities in a cape and spangled tights, wander space and time on a surfboard, fly over the Himalayas on feathered wings, make six-toed footprints in indigo talc snow on the sixth planet in the Andromeda galaxy or eavesdrop on Olympian gods while pretending to whip up a bowl of ambrosia.

In all these wondrous worlds, romance and passion blossom. I can’t resist a happy ending. And I am particularly prone to writing happy endings for those who have given up on ever getting one. That gives me immense satisfaction.

Join me on my journey. The best ideas emerge from team work.

Cover Reveal and Pre-Order Announcement #mm #gay #medical #bdsm

Hi everyone,

I’m absolutely delighted to show off this absolutely stunning cover for my M/M BDSM erotic romance novella, Doctor’s Orders, which previously appeared in the Brit Boys: With Toys boxed set. Isn’t it gorgeous?

Doctor's Orders

The book will release as a standalone on the 22nd December, and is available for pre-order now.

Here’s a reminder of what it’s all about:

Hospital porter Aaron Miller isn’t expecting a very exciting birthday. He and his doctor boyfriend, Blake Colville, are working opposite shifts, leaving Aaron to go home to an empty house and the prospect of another shift the following day. Just as he’s leaving work, however, an unexpected sexy encounter in a supply cupboard leaves him feeling in a much more celebratory mood. And an impending dirty weekend away with Blake just puts the icing on the non-existent cake. But who needs cake when you’re dating a dominant doctor?

Mid Week Tease: I had not been expecting that. #MWTease

mid-week-tease-buttonHi everyone,

Welcome back to Mid Week Tease! This week I’m sharing another snippet from The Billionaire and the Wild Man. I hope you enjoy it!

The Billionaire and the Wild ManCupping her hands over her mouth, she giggles.

I feel a sense of achievement—I’ve made her laugh, broken the ice, for want of a less clichéd description.
“Well? Want to help me pick up litter while you talk?”

Her eyes widen for a second, but then a determined expression crosses her face. “Yes, actually, I’d love to.”

I figure not much harm can come to her feet on the soft grass, so I grab the bag I’ve been using to hold the litter—not that there’s much, the ramblers that come through here are a respectful lot, on the whole—and hand it to her. Turning away, I begin looking for more rubbish, hoping she’ll follow me, and, more importantly, start talking.

Fortunately, she does.

“Well, uh, as I already said, I’m not here on holiday. It’s nowhere near as fun as that. I’m here … for a rehab, of sorts.”

As I have my back to her, I allow the surprise I feel to show on my face. I had not been expecting that.
