Hump Day Hook No. 3 #HDH

Hi everyone and welcome to Hump Day Hook, which is basically where authors post a paragraph from a WIP or a published work to show it off to the world. This week, I’m sharing a snippet from my erotic story, A Taste of London:

Rolling out of bed and shambling toward his friend’s, Ryan resisted the temptation to punch him. It wasn’t Kristian’s fault his phone was ringing, after all. Though the twat could have put it on silent before bed like most normal people. Sniggering, Ryan realized Kristian had been too drunk to fully undress, let alone operate his phone. He shook him awake while trying to find the offending mobile in the tangle of Kristian’s sheets. He found it and as soon as Kristian sat up he shoved it into his hand.

“Wh-who is it?” Kristian asked dopily, peering at the screen.

“I don’t know,” Ryan whispered, “just answer it and get outside—the noise is disturbing everyone else.”

This hasn’t hooked me yet. I think I’d need to be pulled into why they are visiting and why they got drunk, something with more emotion. Irritation doesn’t draw me in so well…

So relatable. “To drunk to operate his phone.” This is me! I’ve lost my friends while out drinking and never once thought, oh, I should just use my phone and text them. Nope. I was too drunk and wandered around aimlessly until I found them, lol. And nothing is worse than having a hangover and someone’s alarm goes off or keeps ringing. I love how snappish he is.
