Come and Get Your LoveBlurb:

Their desire wasn’t supposed to be real…

With millions willed to her in an incentive trust, Lissa can get the dough to start her own country music label when she meets one of the no-contest clauses. Namely, reach middle age in twenty years, work in the hated family business for a decade, or marry someone not in the music biz.

Marriage it is, at least for a year to satisfy her greedy brother who wants the inheritance.

Enter Cass, a hot Texas rancher who dampens Lissa’s panties. With a pile of medical bills from his brother’s accident, Cass agrees to wed Lissa. She’s sweet to look at, surprisingly pleasant for an Atlanta debutante, and makes his jeans feel tight as hell despite their no-sex contract.

Uh-huh. The devil’s in the details. Longing gazes turn to tender intimacy and wild nights with pretend feeling all too real.

Damn shame it may be too late with her brother gunning for them both.

Excerpt:

Lissa trembled slightly at his approach, delight mingling with uncertainty that she was actually going to do this.

He stopped near enough to touch but not to intimidate. “Nice to meet you.”

The world shifted slightly at the quiet thunder of his voice, rumbling and deep, unbelievably sexy. However, Lissa also heard caution.

Before either of them bolted, she offered her hand. “Mr. Bronson.”

“Please, call me Cass. We are engaged, right?”

He had a beautiful smile. His teasing wasn’t bad either. “We are. So you best call me Lissa.”

“Lissa it is.” His hand swallowed hers, his skin warm and dry, palm deliciously calloused.

Lissa’s knees wavered, and her pussy creamed. Good lord, he felt good and smelled awesome. Something fresh and woodsy with a hint of vanilla. Old Spice? She leaned closer to get another whiff, the top of her head coming only to his shoulder. His pecs strained against his tee with his breath.

She never knew a man’s chest or shoulders could be so broad or his hair so freaking perfect. Thick, shiny, a warm chocolaty color falling in tousled waves over his forehead. His brows were also dark, his skin bronzed from the sun, eyes a surprising shade of gray with laugh lines at the corners and an inner fire that stole her breath.

What in the world would he be like in bed when he unleashed his passion? How did he behave with a woman he really liked and truly wanted?

So much longing pulsed through Lissa, she couldn’t think.

Auggie cleared his throat loudly.

Ignoring the intrusive noise, Cass ran his thumb over hers, making Lissa’s teeth tingle.

“We should go inside and get the legalities taken care of,” Auggie mumbled.

With his reminder that this was merely a deal, not a love match, Lissa finally eased her hand from Cass’.

After regarding her for a tantalizingly long moment, Cass inclined his head to the house. “We can talk in the kitchen.”

Auggie took Lissa’s arm to keep her from following, possibly drooling. Leaning into her, he whispered, “It’s only for a year. Remember that. It will end.”

Of course, it would. Auggie didn’t have to keep reminding her of the obvious. Even if this hadn’t been a business arrangement, Cass wasn’t going to fall in love with her. None of the other men in her life had, except for Auggie. The guys Lissa had dated and foolishly hoped she’d share a future with were interested in her pedigree or wealth, not what she had to offer as a person.

Suppressing a sigh, she gave Cass a nervous smile as he held the front door open. “Thank you.”

He regarded her with easy warmth. “My pleasure.”

Damn, he was hot and nice. The whole enchilada. Once inside the house, Lissa calmed her wayward lust by taking in the front parlor that boasted polished hardwood floors along with Victorian knickknacks and furniture. The room smelled lemony fresh and clean, genuinely loved.

She smiled. “What a beautiful place.”

“Grandma and Mom did all the decorating.”

He was directly behind her, sending Lissa’s pulse into a sprint from his voice and proximity. If Lissa hadn’t known better, she would have sworn she felt his body heat. “They did a great job.”

“Thanks. Kitchen’s this way.”

Lissa and Auggie followed him through a hall with snug rooms on either side, all with high ceilings and vintage furniture. The kitchen was as immaculate as the rest of the house, the appliances old but well cared for.

Although she’d grown up in one sumptuous Atlanta mansion after another, they’d always seemed like museum displays to Lissa. None a real home where people actually lived and loved.

This was a place where she could easily picture Cass as a child. A tall boy, to be sure, but one who had run down the narrow halls, whooping and hollering as he waved his baby Stetson. Thinking of that, she grinned.

“Lis?” Auggie said, pulling out a chair for her. He had their laptops on the kitchen table next to where Cass had his.

“Would you like some ice tea, Dr. Pepper, milk?” Cass hung his Stetson on a hook. “Or would you prefer something stronger?”

Lissa stopped tapping her feet against the floor and gave him a brief glance. A longer one would have had her grinning like a fool or whistling a happy tune. “Nothing for me, thanks.”

“Mr. St. Claire?”

“I’m fine.” Auggie finished setting up his computer.

Cass sank into the chair next to hers, facing Lissa as he stretched his legs to the side, crossing them at the ankles.

A wave of his fragrance rolled over Lissa, this time tinged with musk that made her head swim. She wondered what size boots he wore. Crossing her legs, she lifted her big toe, gently touching the side of his jeans.

“Ready?” Auggie asked.

Reminded of what had brought her there, Lissa suddenly wasn’t. She lowered her foot from Cass’ jeans.  “No.”

An Interview with Heather Hambel Curley (@Heather_Curley)

  1. Are you a pantser or a plotter?  I’m definitely a pantser.  I can probably count on one hand (with fingers left over) the amount of times I’ve plotted out my books.  I think it reminds me too much of forced outline writing in college!  I like to just sit down with music and write until I stop.  Or fall asleep (FYI: kkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkk does not count as novel writing, haha).
  2. What authors have inspired you to write? I am inspired by the passion and commitment of JK Rowling and her ability to create entire worlds with their own laws, rules, games, and forces or good an evil.  Robert A. Heinlein inspires me with the foresight and creativity he showed science fiction in 1950s and 1960s.  And, of course, George R.R. Martin inspires me with this spunk, sass, and commitment to writing the way he wants to write.
  3. How important are names to you in your book? For me, naming a character is like naming a child.  You’re going to be with this person for the entirety of your book/series.  Try going outside and yelling the character name over and over again.  If you don’t get sick of it, that’s the name you should go with.  This is also how my husband and I named our second child.
  4. Is there a certain type of scene that’s hard for you to write? I’m bad with sex scenes.  For the sex scene in the first historical novel I wrote, I couldn’t even bring myself to look at the screen while I typed.
  5. What is With Me Now about? With Me Now is about Madison Monroe, a college student on her first archeological dig.  She’s working in Gettysburg, Pennsylvania, and finds something buried on the battlefield she didn’t expect to find.
  6. How much research did you do? I’ve been Civil War reenacting since 2001 and met my husband at Gettysburg, so I’m very familiar with every nook and cranny of the battlefield.  In 2004, my husband and I were volunteers at Harpers Ferry National Historical Park in the living history department.  For approximately two days, I worked on an archeological dig and, from that, this novel was born.  Most of the research I did was archeological terminology and techniques of speaking/interacting with ghosts.
  7. What writing advice do you have for aspiring authors? Never quit.  It’s too easy to get frustrated: with writing, editing, submitting, rejection.  If this is what you want, work for it!  Believe in your idea and your writing.
  8. What are you working on now? Right now, I’m working on the sequel to With Me Now, toying around with two other paranormal romances, and one historical.  There’s always another Chapter 1!
  9. And finally, two just for fun: If you wrote a book about yourself, what would the title be? Probably something along the lines of, “So this happened….”
  10. What are five adjectives you feel describe you? Loving, nerdy, awkward, rambunctious, and groovy

coverExcerpt:

The hot water and steam of the shower was relaxing, enough to kick the butterflies in her stomach into submission.  Her muscles ached.  The tendons and ligaments in her upper shoulders and back throbbed as if she’d been moving heavy furniture all week instead of throwing her weight against the screen sifter.  It was just another brutal reminder that, although she was thin, she was pathetically out of shape.

She stood under the unrelenting water, craning her neck from side to side in an attempt to work the muscles loose.  Maybe Mike could crack her back for her.  She smirked.  Now that was a pickup line she’d have to remember: say, care to get on top and crack my back?

Once the conditioner was rinsed out of her hair, she turned the faucet off and reached for a towel.  Her hair was getting long. It seemed like she’d need to use two or three of the thin, white hotel towels to sop up the excess water.  No matter, she could resort to using the room’s hair dryer and, in forty-five minutes or so, the feeble little machine might get her hair dry.  Damn it, of all the things to leave at home.  She hadn’t planned on needing to look as attractive and desirable as humanly possible. If she had, she’d have brought along a better selection of makeup.

She towel dried her hair enough to keep water from trickling down her back, and then wrapped another towel around her body.  It was a good thing she’d done a load of laundry the previous day. Not that she had “date” quality outfits with her, but she was fully aware which pair of jeans accentuated her curves the best.  She pulled on a red vintage style t-shirt emblemized with a grayed out Union Jack. It was casual and cute, though she was reasonably sure her clothes were the last thing on his mind.

The steam from the small bathroom had filtered out into the sink area, fogging up the mirror and giving everything a generally damp feeling.  She wiped her hand across the condensation covered mirror. In the unobstructed reflection she could see a figure, a man, standing directly behind her.

She bit back a shriek and jerked around.  There was no one there; the room was empty.

“Shit.”  The words felt as if they bubbled out of her throat, pushed out by her rapid heartbeat.  She gripped the countertop with one hand to steady herself.  The reflection in the mirror was clear and crisp.  It wasn’t a shadow or the light playing on the steam from the shower. It was a man.  It was him, the man who’d been watching her for days.  He’d stood and watched her at the Spangler Farm.  He’d breathed on the back of her neck, whispered in her ear as she worked in the test pit.

Now he was in her room.

Madison swallowed hard, peering into the main section of the hotel room.  It was empty.  Nothing was out of place, no one was watching her from any corner of the room; yet, she didn’t feel completely alone.  He was still there.

Her hand faltered on the countertop and she sank backward, half sitting, half leaning against the sink.  The air in the room felt soupy and stale.  Gooseflesh rippled down her still damp arms and across her back.  What in Christ’s name did he want from her?

She felt him next to her, his breath on her shoulder.  Please.

Could he hear her when she spoke to him?  It was worth a try.  “I’m not sure I know how to help you.”

But she knew someone who did.

Background To A Dom for Patti by Elodie Parkes (@elodieparkes)

ADomforPatti-evernightpublishing-jayAheer2015-banner1 - Copy

I wrote a story titled Rescuing Cade published by Evernight in February this year. In that story, Patti, the heroine from a Dom for Patti, is introduced to Cade. They are both visiting The Club, a select BDSM club. Cade is kind to Patti, but his heart already belongs to someone else and after only a few minutes he tells Patti he’s leaving. In that few minutes, he kisses Patti and she feels an instant attraction to him. Unfortunately, lonely Patti is destined not to be with Cade.

I liked Patti a lot and I decided to write her story. It’s an erotic romance with a twist. Patti is hoping for love as well as a handsome Dom to fill her lonely life, when she meets hunky Cameron in The Club, she thinks her luck is looking up … let’s hope so.

*****

quote1

Excerpt:

The darkness soothed Patti. The music lifted her spirits and she smiled at the lovely sight of people enjoying each other. She relaxed in the familiar atmosphere and began to wonder why she’d denied herself this pleasure for so long. Happy now, she wandered along to the bar and ordered coffee.

Patti spent a pleasant ten minutes drinking her coffee and talking with the bartender, before a man and woman she’d seen around The Club in the past arrived at the bar. Patti cast a sidelong glance at them before transferring her scrutiny to watching their touches and kisses through the length of mirror along the back of the bar. They were obviously a couple. More than that, they were obviously in love.

Patti left the sight that reminded her of what she desperately wanted and walked along to the end of the room. She stopped in the gloom there and considered going home. She’d shaken her depression and maybe on her next visit she’d find one of the Masters free.

About to move off, instead, Patti turned abruptly. Someone approached from behind and she was suddenly aware she lurked around in the entrance to the corridor that led to the private rooms.

He was closer than she’d anticipated. A hard muscular chest met her, and as she bumped against the man, his arms enclosed her.

Patti looked up into the face of a man she’d never seen before.

His eyes were dark in the gloom. He’d stopped further into the shadows, but the handsome planes of his face were still obvious. A dimple appeared in his left cheek as he smiled.

“Hey, are you okay? I didn’t mean to scare you.” He left his arms around her.

Patti soaked up the contact. She looked at him with interest. “I was deep in thought.”

Optical Illusions by Gale Stanley (@galestanley)

OpticalIllusions-evernightPublishing-jayAheer2015-banner3

Hi Everyone! I’m very excited to share my new book with you. Optical Illusions is special to me for so many reasons. I gave free rein to my characters and they took me in a different direction. I’ve been writing mostly MM romance lately, and the main character in this book is a woman. Maggie really got into my head, and I knew I had to write her story in first person POV. I usually write in third.

The story is fiction, but I included a few things that are near and dear to my heart. The setting is my hometown, Philly, and one of my cats plays a supporting role. I did change his name to protect the innocent.

Here’s a sneak peek at Optical Illusions. I hope you enjoy reading it as much as I enjoyed writing it.

Optical IllusionsBLURB

Maggie’s troubled past makes her seal off her heart. She shuts everyone out, and puts all her energy into work, but suddenly, she’s having erotic fantasies about her two bosses. They’re perfect. Good-looking, intelligent, caring… Everything a woman could want. But they only have eyes for each other.

Michael and Aaron have been a couple since college, but one thing is missing from their relationship. They’re bisexual and they miss having a woman in their lives. Maggie would be the perfect addition to their family. She’s beautiful, smart, compassionate… But they’re sure she’ll never accept their unconventional lifestyle.

Excerpt:

Jack leans toward me, and I don’t back away. It’s just a kiss. What harm can it do? His fingers tangle in my hair, and I inhale his spicy cologne. The exotic fragrance intoxicates me. Our mouths meet and I whimper. His prodding tongue slips past my lips. I like the prickly feel of his ‘stache and I wonder how it would feel on other parts of my body. Now I’m wet with anticipation.

Jack’s lips trace a path along my jaw. His tongue traces the rim of my ear while his hand inches up my thigh and reaches the edge of my panties. He fingers the damp lace, and I start squirming on the cool leather. I’m soaked, and suddenly embarrassed. I pull back and press my legs together.

“Don’t play hard to get,” he says. “I like a woman who’s responsive.” He kisses me again, and then pulls my dress down off my shoulders, trapping my arms.

No. “Yes,” I hiss.

Jack’s eyes focus on my chest. He pushes down the cups of my bra, exposing my breasts. His warm palms cover them. I’m not the good girl I want to be, and I’m too aroused to pretend. I push my breasts into his hands and whimper as he rolls my nipples between his fingers. He must be reading my mind, or maybe my eyes, because he lowers his head, takes a nipple between his lips, and sucks. Oh, god! Every pull goes straight to my pussy.

Why I Had to Write This Book by S.J. Maylee (@SJMaylee)

Taking OverTaking Over is the third book in the Love Projects Series. I worked hard and made sure this story is a standalone. You do not need to read books one and two. However, you will find special connections if you read them in order.

Taking Chances, Love Projects 1 (Jake & Lydia)

Taking Courage, Love Projects 2 (Simon & Janna)

Taking Over tells the story of Marcus and Gina. It’s the story I had to tell in many ways. I knew from day one there was more to Gina than she let others see. I wanted to explore the steps in her life that led her down the path to earning her mean girl status. The more I learned, the more I wanted to open another path for her to take.

Marcus stepped up big time in this story. There might have been a time in his life when he loved Gina more than anything else, but that time has come and gone. While Gina faces some of my worst fears, she struggles with wanting the easy route. It can be so simple to shut everyone out when we need them the most.

Love isn’t easy. It’s messy and it hurts when you lose it. Taking Over tells the story of love that was meant to be, but is now lost. I know love is worth the struggle it takes to grab it and hold on to it, but I needed to prove it to Gina. The result is an emotional sexy trip of raw emotions. I hope you take a chance on Gina and enjoy her wild ride.

*****

Excerpt:

This had to be a new record. In less than a minute, he had her loathing herself. It didn’t matter he was working on incorrect data. “Hope not to see you again.” She waved as she turned to go.

“Wait.”

She kept moving.

His hand came down on her shoulder and pulled her around. “When a Master tells you to wait, you do as you’re told. Our personal history doesn’t erase protocol. Is that clear?”

“Yes, Sir.” Her chest rubbed against his. From under her lashes, she looked up into his light blue eyes and, for a second, wished she could forget why she hated him.

“I’m sorry.” He stepped back and let his hand fall. “You came to this area because you needed something from the benches. I’m the only one free right now.” He raised his hand and brushed away the hair hanging in front of her eyes. “I can give you what you need.”

Once again, Marcus showed himself as the good guy. She didn’t like him because he had a tendency to call her out on her mistakes and she was certain he thought her supposed latest was a doozy, since it ended her marriage.

“That’s nice of you, but it’s okay.” She took a step back.

“I can see that it’s not.” He took a step forward. “We can push past our history and live in this moment.” He grabbed her hand. “Let me help.”

Warmth gathered in her core. She’d seen this side of him, but they’d never scened together. She tilted her head to the side and examined him. The first time she gazed into his blue eyes, she knew he’d cause her problems. He could see the truth through all the mess, not that he ever tried to understand her. She didn’t want to know what he’d see if he ever took a closer look at her. Fear ticked up her spine. She had a feeling that he alone would be her undoing.

Desperate to let go, she knew the sting of a paddle was what she needed, but sometimes it was hard to separate feelings discovered at the spanking bench. She laughed out loud. Since there was no way she’d start to care about Marcus now, she decided to take him up on his offer. After all, she was determined to reach the kind of release only a good reddened ass could provide.

“Thanks, Marcus.” She walked to the only free bench and bent over the apparatus, putting her forearms on the padded rests and grasped the holding bar. Her short skirt would already be giving him quite a show. For the first time, she wished the club allowed submissives to wear panties.

“Since we’ve never played together, I won’t be restraining you. We certainly don’t have that kind of trust. You understand how important it is not to move, correct?”

“Yes, Sir, I understand. I won’t move.” It pinched her last nerve to call him sir, but he was doing her a great service. For these few minutes, she’d give him the respect any Master in this club deserved.

He flipped her skirt up over her back, exposing her round ass. The paddle brushed over her lower back, across her hip, and down the length of her leg to her knee. His hand followed the paddle with a feather touch, allowing a soothing bliss to spread over her skin.

The room either quieted or she’d blocked out the noise but she welcomed the peace, needing to remember why she was there. He repeated the pattern on the other side, drawing her in with his tenderness. She swallowed against the unwelcomed thoughts threatening to break her concentration.

“I’ll give you twenty swats. I expect you to count them.”

“Okay. Thank you, Sir.”

The paddle rubbed over her right cheek and then smacked against it, rocking her whole body. The force behind the swat surprised her, this was not her first mistake. What had she been thinking? Submitting to Marcus was on her list of things to never try. She had to give him more credit. He’d caught her off her game.

“We’ll start back at one each time you forget to count.” He smacked her other cheek.

“One. Sorry, Sir.”

“Not as sorry as your ass will be if you forget again.” He dragged the paddle along her skin in the same figure as before, spreading the sensitivity. “I have no problem paddling your ass all night.” He smacked her right cheek again.

“Two…three…four.” Somewhere over the next couple of swats, Gina remembered why she’d come back into the club tonight. Her knuckles turned white with the force of her grip. She gulped in a breath of air and waited for the next hit to land with its punishing kiss of heat, but none came. Marcus stepped into her line of sight, just out of reach. The paddle was no longer in his hand.

“I’ll keep counting, Sir. Please, I need this.”

He lowered himself beside her and reached out to caress her fingers until she released her strangle hold. “I’ll finish, after I’ve determined you’re in the right frame of mind.”

Audio Books by Lily Harlem (@lily_harlem)

The Silk Tie audio imageAudio is the new big thing. Why? Because it’s just so damn convenient and the modern world is all about convenience. You can listen to your go-to author, hottest releases, favourite stories while you’re on the go. How many people on the Tube or the bus or driving along are actually listening to a story and not music at all? I’d always presumed it was music until I too started listening to books, now I’m convinced they’re all immersed in other worlds.

Because being lost in a tense thriller, an action-packed sci-fi or a steamy romance is all the rage when you’re out and about. And why not, stories make the world go round so while we’re going round the world let’s listen to stories.

I’ve recently had The Silk Tie made into an audio book. I uploaded a scripted sample onto ACX, auditioned actresses and actors for the part and then sat back and enjoyed the story as I proof listened to the final product. It came alive, the characters, the scenery, the sex and I adored being read to, even though it was my words I was hanging onto the narrator’s voice.

SCORED smallSo for any readers thinking about giving audio books a go, I’d say go for it. And any authors thinking of making their books into audio, it’s so worth it. ACX makes it a simple process and once you’ve connected with your actors a real joy to be part of.

Before turning her hand to writing Lily Harlem worked as a trauma nurse and her latest HarperCollins release, Confessions of a Naughty Night Nurse draws on her many experiences while nursing in London. Lily also self-publishes and The Silk Tie, The Glass Knot,  In Expert Hands and Scored have been blessed with many 5* reviews since their release.

Lily writes MF, MM and ménage a trois, her books regularly hit the #1 spot on Amazon Best Seller lists and Breathe You In was named a USA Today Reviewer’s Recommended Read of 2014. Her latest MM novel is Dark Warrior.

Lily also co-authors with Natalie Dae and publishes under the name Harlem Dae – check out the Sexy as Hell Box Set available exclusively on Amazon – The Novice, The Player and The Vixen – and That Filthy Book which has been hailed as a novel ‘every woman should read’.

One thing you can be sure of, whatever book you pick up by Ms Harlem, is it will be wildly romantic and down-and-dirty sexy. Enjoy!
