Writing a Regency

The Virgin CourtesanJust what is it about a Regency hero that is so sexy? I must admit when I was first asked to write a Regency romance I rolled my eyes a little. I’ve never been a huge fan of Jane Austen – shock horror for a romance writer, but I write on the erotic side of the romance genre, and that period always brings to mind tea in china cups and old ladies in crinoline. Not very sexy, surely.

The more I dug into the period though, the more I realised why it remains a popular era for readers of hot and steamy romance. The erotic potential was spine-tingling, in fact. It was a time when handsome men in tight breeches danced under the stars with women who had never been kissed, while beautiful courtesans were the toast and talk of the town. A time of men fighting duels to the death to defend the women they loved, of notorious gambling halls, decadent fashion, daring revolutions and whispers of scandal. If I had to sum the period up in one word it would be this; juicy.

And the men! Pirates, spies, smugglers and highwaymen…this was the ultimate age of the bad boy. So, pen in hand and those hot guys in tight breeches firmly on my mind, I sat down to write my first Regency romance. Blushing courtesans, mysterious highwaymen, duels at dawn and a lot of steamy erotic scenes. It’s the most fun I’ve ever had with my clothes on. Here’s a little sneak peek of ‘The Virgin Courtesan’ out in ebook 1st October with Harlequin Books. Enjoy….

Extract from ‘The Virgin Courtesan’.

Juliana shifted uncomfortably in the rattling stagecoach, trying to calm the nerves that assailed her. She drew her pelisse around the white muslin gown that was far too revealing, with its plunging décolleté, to be any use against a chilly spring night. It wasn’t just the cold that was making her shiver; she was on her way for an intimate evening with Lord Salter, and if the night’s events went as planned she would officially be a courtesan. The new toast of Covent Garden….

The stage rattled on. Taking a peek out, Juliana saw that it was near dark, and jumped at the sudden hoot of an owl. They were some way outside London now, in woods Juliana was unsure of. Quite why Lord Salter couldn’t simply receive her at his town house, which would be far more usual, she had no idea. She began to wish she had accepted the gin that Rose had offered her before she left. But on an empty stomach, she had not deemed it wise.

The coach came to an abrupt halt, causing Juliana to drop her fan. Cursing in a most unladylike manner she went to see what the problem was, then froze in horror as she heard the words every night traveller dreaded.

‘Stand and deliver!’

A highwayman. Though the laws against them were stricter than ever and the penalty, death, still they were known to menace English roads. Desperate and dangerous men, most of them, in spite of the romantic tales of ‘gentleman highwaymen’ that went around. No woman who repeated such tales had ever actually encountered one, Juliana wagered.

Nevertheless, as the coach door was flung open, the first impression Juliana got, in spite of her fear, was of a tall and handsome man, with a full sensual mouth under his mask and strong lean thighs in his breeches.

‘Your purse, Madam,’ he insisted in tones that struck her as well cultured for such a devil. Then she saw the pistol in his hand and heard the terrified pleading of the stage coach driver, and his face swam before her, then vanished into darkness.

Restricted ReleaseWith a grain of salt…okay, a bucket.

There are books that are special somehow. Maybe there’s a tad more of me in them. Or I fell super duper hard for my characters. Or they come from a place inside me that’s a little deeper than the rest (hold your sex jokes!). For whatever reason, the releases of certain books are more nerve wracking than others.

Restricted Release is one of those books. First of all, I wrote it two summers ago and just sat on it. I have no idea why. I wasn’t ready to let it go and I wasn’t sure where I wanted it to go. Then when I was assigned an amazing new editor at Ellora’s Cave I thought hmm…After all that time, when I finally made up my mind and decided I wanted to submit it to her in hopes that she would want it, I couldn’t get it out fast enough.

But I was scared. More scared than I’d been about a book in a long time.

When my new editor proclaimed herself a fan and said she’d read and liked my other books, well, damn…that was really nerve wracking. What if she hated it? What if she thought it was horrible and then had to tell me? What if, what if, what if!

And why was I so paranoid about this damn book?

I figured out why one night out of the blue. I realized I’d written Restricted Release for me. Just for me. Which is probably why I sat on it for so long. I had no concrete plans for that book beyond getting it out of my head. That was where the thought processes stopped. And for a long time, I doubted anyone would want it.

While you’re in the process of writing a book just for yourself it’s freeing. While you’re waiting to hear about said book it’s terrifying.

Ellora’s Cave took it (as you can see), and now my fear lies with the reviews. It’s inevitable, really. The book will get reviews. Hopefully, (I think) by review sites. Definitely by people on Goodreads and the like.

I want readers to like it and the mere thought of them not liking it is horrifying. And yet, I must remember to take any criticism (and even praise) with a grain of salt…okay, a bucket. That’s a hard thing to remember at times like this. That’s a hard thing to remember, period, if you’re a writer (I think). When characters I spent an entire summer with are now cavorting around out there without me, it’s hard not to fret. But the point is for my characters to be read, beyond that I should have no expectations. As Shakespeare said, “Expectation is the root of all heartache.” So I shouldn’t have any, right? However, that’s much easier to say than to do.

But I’ll start practicing now. Om…

We sat in the center of his box-cluttered living room floor on a large blanket. Around us was scattered some leftover takeout, cheese, crackers, a box of lemon cookies, mixed nuts, olives, pickles and a bottle of wine.

“This should be disgusting,” he said, eating a pickle with a piece of cheese on a cracker.

“But it‘s so, so good,” I said, eating my own cracker with cheese. I ate it in small nibbles because my stomach was electric.

“Really?” He cocked his head. “Because you barely seem to be eating.” He touched my leg with his bare foot. He was warm.

“I‘m eating.” I pulled the sweatshirt he‘d draped over me close to my body. Besides his sweatshirt, I wore my white slouchy socks and we‘d located my panties.

He held out a box of cookies. “I’m good,” I said.

Matt studied me. “I‘m not as dumb as I look, you know.”

I ate the rest of my cracker and took a sip of wine. It was nice. It had that whiskey aftertaste I usually hate and yet I didn‘t this time. There was enough of a fruity burst in it to temper the oak. “I don‘t think you look dumb at all. I think you look really smart,” I said.

I hoped he didn‘t hear the mixture of annoyance and anxiety in my voice. I wanted to get past the food thing.

No chance.

“So tell me, mysterious neighbor. Why do you seem to be a person who sticks very close to home? Why do you seem so…gun-shy? Is that a good description?”

I tried to nod but my head barely moved.

“I know why I‘ve been a monkish man for almost a year. Why have you been Sister Clara Barrett?”

I cleared my throat. “I don‘t know.”

He cocked his head and then cut his eyes away. He tried to make it look nonchalant, but I knew what he was doing. He was giving me a moment to consider the situation.

“Really?”

“I…”

Matt held up a hand, looking me right in the eye so I felt totally naked. For a crazy moment I felt as if there were no barriers between what was inside of me and what was inside of him. He said, “You were bold enough this morning to straight up tell me you wanted to have sex with me.”

I opened my mouth but he kept that silencing hand up and I shut my mouth with an audible snap. His fingers slipped beneath my sock, circled my ankle and he said very softly, “Please let me finish before you throw up your security fences and barriers.”

My throat was tight. I nodded.

“You were bold enough to watch me in my bathroom. When I probably could have spotted you at any time, and I sorta kind of did at the end there. And…” He squeezed my ankle and the pressure went right to my pussy. “You were bold enough to come over here on a…” He chuckled. “Booty call.”

I made a small noise of protest but then laughed. Our laughter mingled and I felt a rightness I couldn‘t remember feeling. It scared the shit out of me.

“But you won‘t tell me what your history is, Clara?” He didn‘t say it to belittle me. I could tell he wasn‘t angry. It was simply a question to help him understand. And that made me tell him.

I finished my wine in three big gulps and leaned back on my hands, keeping my legs in crisscross-applesauce fashion.

“I was married.” I picked at a loose thread on my sock and then looked at him. His eyes were amazing. Gorgeous and kind and deep—if they were the windows to Matt Millen’s soul, his soul was a wonder of the Universe.

“I‘m going to say this in one big breath and get it over with, okay?” I said, feeling my eyes sting a little. I willed myself not to cry. I could not cry. That would be stupid. That bad part of my life was over. I needed to move past it.

“Okay,” Matt said. His hand stayed around my ankle, loose but comforting. He wasn‘t eating or drinking, but he wasn‘t poking or prodding either. He was waiting. Listening. Paying attention.

“I was married to a man who wasn‘t…nice.” I shrugged but it felt like I was being blasé about something that was anything but. So I stilled my body and went on, willing myself to be strong. “He didn’t beat me or anything. But he carved me up emotionally. My sister Cat once said it would have been better if he had beaten me.” My voice had gotten small. My stomach hurt.

His eyes flashed with anger but he kept his face schooled. “And why is that?”

I blew out a shuddery breath and whispered. “She said that if he‘d left bruises on me—broke bones—I‘d have known that it was wrong. But as it stood, he got inside my head and…” I tapped my temple. “Fucked with me. He played on my biggest fears and weaknesses to control me. It‘s like in those books where you read about demons and possession and Hell,” I laughed. “He infiltrated my brain and he trapped me with my own fear.”

Matt sighed and popped an olive in his mouth. “I‘m going to go out on a limb here, slim lady, and say one of your issues is food and body image?”

My cheeks heated and I nodded, saying nothing at all. I had to fight the urge to cover myself with his sweatshirt. To pull it down over my knees and hide myself in it. It was a war I still waged most days, even thought I was alone about 80 percent of the time.

He watched me. He was waiting.

Yank by Selena Kitt

YankDavid has been brightening up his gray Surrey, England days with the porn collection hidden in his parents’ shed, but when he finds that their American foreign exchange student, Dawn, has discovered his magazines, things really begin to heat up. David’s parents insist that he look for a job, but Dawn has the week off and is determined to work on her tan. Distracted David finds himself increasingly tempted by their seductive foreign exchange student, who makes it very clear what she wants. In spite of the Study Abroad program’s policy that no “relations” are allowed between a student and anyone in their host family–not to mention David’s mother’s insistence that they treat each other as “brother and sister,”–Dawn’s teasing ways slowly break down the barrier between them until they both give in to their lust. But what are they going to do about the feelings that have developed between them in the meantime?

NOTE: This story appeared in another book titled NAUGHTY BITS. Previously titled Foreign Exchange, this is a slightly less naughty, but no less sexy re-telling–updated and redressed for your reading pleasure.

EXCERPT

“David?”

I woke up with a grunt, hearing my name being hissed from beside the bed. It was dark, but I could make out her outline in the moonlight coming through the window. She was on her hands and knees, crawling toward me.

“Dawn?” I felt her find the bed with a thud.

“Ow.” She whimpered.

“Christ!” I reached for her, groping in the dark. My hand found her arm, helping her up into the bed. “What are you doing?”

“Ta,” she said, thanking me. I could smell the alcohol on her now. “It’s a long way when you’re legless.”

“Shhhh!” I looked toward my door. I was listening for my Mum or Dad but didn’t hear them. “C’mon, let’s get you to bed.”

“That’s where I am.” She crawled up against me in the dark and pressed me down, snuggling up against my bare chest. “Hey, you sleep naked! When did you start that?”

“Since I was fourteen,” I whispered. “Keep your voice down, Dawn.”

“I am.” She kissed my shoulder. “You feel good.”

“Okay.” I tried to untangle her limbs from mine. “You are pretty well lashed, and I think this is a bad idea. C’mon, let’s go.”

“Noooo!” She slid her bare foot up the inside of my calf. She’d lost her heels somewhere, I noticed, but I could feel the skirt and blouse pressed against me, her body full and warm underneath, flushed from the alcohol. “Don’t make me go.”

“I think you’d better.” I tried to sit, but she was clinging to me too tightly.

“I’ll scream,” she whispered into my ear, her breath hot against my neck.

“You will not.” I edged my way out from under her.

I heard her intake of breath and knew she really meant to do it. What was wrong with her? Panicked, I rolled onto her, finding her mouth with my hand in the dark and pressing it there, hard.

“Button it!” I hissed, feeling her wiggling and squirming underneath me. Her skirt was riding high up and I felt her bare thighs against mine, her skin like velvet.

“Unbutton it,” she murmured when I moved my hand away from her mouth, her fingers working her blouse from top to bottom between us. She pulled her shirt open, sliding her breasts against my chest, back and forth. Her nipples were hard, her breath hot with alcohol against my face, her hands roaming over my back. Why was she coming onto me like this all of a sudden? I didn’t get it.

An Interview with Kay Jaybee

I’ve put together some fun interview questions for the site, and have asked my fellow Brit Babes to complete them. Here’s the first interviewee – the fabulous Kay Jaybee. Take it away, Kay…

Kay Jaybee1. Tell us about yourself. Both your writing self and your non-writing self. What are your interests and hobbies? Do you have a day job, etc?

Hello! Well, I’m Kay Jaybee- and I’m also Jenny Kane- and sometimes- when I have time- I’m me!!

Kay is 5ft 5, wears short skirts, boots and is rather flirty.

Jenny is 5ft 5, wears jeans and is rather shy.

I am 5ft 5- I wear short skirts sometimes- but only with tights so think they could repel lasers, but mostly I’m a jeans and trainers girl.
Once my family are off to work and school, I start my days with a trip to my local coffee shop, where I write for 2 hours. After that I head home, where I work over the Internet as an admin assistant for a distance learning company for a further 2 hours. Then, it’s back to the coffee shop again to write some more!

Once upon a time I had a hobby I loved- it was writing- then one day, without me even noticing, my hobby was my job!! I live, breathe, sleep and dream writing!!

On the very rare occasions when I’m not writing, I love to walk. I’m very lucky to live near a great number of wonderful walking places, and just adore exploring new woods and moors. I also LOVE history. Many years ago I was an archaeologist, and a medieval history tutor, and I still get overexcited about being able to clamber over castles, roman villas, and other ancient sites!!

2. Give us the background on your latest release.

My latest release, The Retreat (out in Oct 2013), is the sequel to my BDSM novel, The Perfect Submissive.

This was a book I never thought I’d write! Originally The Perfect Submissive was intended to be a standalone story. However, much to my delight, it was so popular, that Xcite asked me to extend the story of Miss Jess Sanders, not just with a sequel, but with a trilogy!
After my initial joy, I then began to panic- what would I write? I wasn’t sure what challenges I’d make Jess face! It wasn’t a case of having no ideas- but of having way too many!

It was a conversation with my friend Debs that set the plot for The Retreat going. The second Debs suggested sending Jess away to a retreat, cut off from the rest of the world; I knew exactly what I’d make Jess face- and where she’d face it. I lived in Scotland for some years, and as a lover of history, I visited as many of the beautiful castles there. The Retreat is based on a cross between the gorgeous castles, Crathes, Drum and Fraser.

When Debs added that maybe I should include a fairytale theme my mind went into over-drive…

3. How did you get started with writing? And what was your route to publication like?

I started to write erotic by accident- an idea popped into my head 9 years ago while I was sitting in a cafe in Scotland. I just had to write it down, and the only thing to hand was a paper napkin. So, my very first short story saw life as scribbles on a napkin covered in the crumbs from a Mars Bar scone!!

I was very lucky- that first story was taken by Cleis Press. If it hadn’t been, I don’t think I’d have written another one. After that early publication I discovered Oysters and Chocolate – the much missed, and totally brilliant erotica site- for whom I wrote over 20 stories, before going on to publish my first solo book, The Collector (Austin & Macauley).

At the same time as working with Oysters, I also began to write short stories for Xcite, and before I knew it, Quick Kink One was created; soon to be followed by its sister book, Quick Kink Two. Thanks to the success of those early anthologies, I was offered the chance to do a novel- which lead to my bestseller, The Perfect Submissive- since then I’ve never looked back… I keep waiting for it all to go wrong…I never take any publication for granted, and I always keep my fingers crossed!!

4. What are you currently working on?

I am currently working on the third instalment of The Perfect Submissive Trilogy. Entitled Knowing Her Place, we catch up with Miss Jess Sanders fresh from her adventures at The Retreat…I’m going to say no more, as The Retreat has only just been released, and I don’t want to spoil it for you!!!

5. Do you have a particular Muse for your writing? Do any of your characters bear startling resemblances to sexy celebrities or people you admire?

Almost all of my story ideas are triggered my quite mundane things- overheard conversations, objects being left in the wrong place which cause my mind to leap ahead- wondering why certain things are where they shouldn’t be- for example, why has someone left an umbrella in a supermarket freezer…you’d be amazed what my imagination could do with that!!

I have one muse who occasionally inspires me. He isn’t a celeb (I have very little time for them truth be told), but a real person who, although he couldn’t be more different from me, always manages to trip my mind onto the correct track for any story I need to write should the dreaded writers block strike.

6. Where do you see yourself in five years? Both writing-wise and non-writing-wise?

Well, assuming my daughters still want to go to University, I’ll be completely broke as I try to support them! I hope I’ll still be writing some erotica, but my main aim is to expand out of the genre, and have at least 3 more Jenny Kane (my contemporary romance alter ego) novels out there…and maybe a play…

And now for some silly questions…

7. Muscled or skinny? Skinny (well- a build between the two if I can be picky!!)

8. Tall or short? Short (although my husband is tall- whoops!

9. Boxers or briefs? Boxers

10. Moustache or beard? Beard (neither for preference)

11. Long hair or shaven head? Shaven hair for a man, long for a woman

12. Tattoos or piercings? Tattoos (neither for preference)

13. Intelligent or funny? Funny (can’t I have both?)

14. Blond, brunette or red head? Red head

15. Hottest celebrity (tell us why, if you like)? Tricky as I don’t really follow the celebrity thing- but someone who has really earned their fame, who also used to tickle my fancy was Ray Winstone as a young man- he was so hot in Robin of Sherwood- and he still has a twinkle in his eye!

16. Top same-sex crush (or opposite sex if you already like same-sex!) Drew Barrymore

17. Most disliked celebrity (tell us why, if you like)- anyone who is famous for being on a reality TV show, but has done nothing else with their lives, is a major turn off for me.

18. Favourite food Chinese- especially the starter platters you get in Chinese restaurants.

19. Favourite book (tell us why, if you like) – This is tricky- I like so many different genres! It would have to be The Rose Revived by Katie Fforde for a light read, The Daughters of Cain by Colin Dexter for a touch of crime, and Men at Arms by Terry Pratchett for cynical brilliance!

20. Favourite place in the world (tell us why, if you like) – I love so many places- but Dartmoor has to be up there – it’s so barren, yet so vibrant, and you can walk for miles without seeing another living soul. Not only that, but the footprints of our ancient ancestors are invisibly marked all over it- paradise for an ex-archaeologist who likes a leg stretch!

21. Anything else you’d like to add? If you ever meet me, offer me a cup of coffee- I’ll be a friend for life xx

My latest release is The Retreat- Part 2 of The Perfect Submissive Trilogy.

The RetreatBlurb-

Just as Jess is beginning to relax into her new life as a submissive at The Fables Hotel, her employer Mrs Peters announces that she is loaning both Jess, and her dominatrix Miss Sarah, to one of their most demanding clients; Mr David Proctor.

Whisked away by the mysterious Kane to The Retreat, hidden in a remote part of Scotland, Jess and Miss Sarah find themselves teaching another submissive to meet Proctor’s exacting rules.

As Jess comes to terms with the techniques of The Retreat Mistress, and the strictly overpowering dominatrix Lady Tia, she discovers that Proctor’s motives may not be all they seem.

Just who or what is Fairtasia? And why does Jess feel like she’s walked into a warped fairy tale?

In order to get back to The Fables, Jess is going to have to be more than just a perfect submissive…

Extract-

JESS WASN’T SURE exactly what she’d expected to happen once they’d been escorted into the castle. What she had been sure of, however, was that Miss Sarah was would be right. The moment they crossed the threshold into David Proctor’s territory, they’d be subjected to some kind of sexual action that would make their in-flight entertainment look mild.

The submissive had spent the final part of the journey mentally preparing herself for an instant stripping, beating, and group fuck by every member of the staff she was there to meet. She’d contemplated being fastened to some sort of table or chair, so that her naked frame could be examined and teased to the point when her endurance broke; and being the target for every sort of sex toy ever invented. What Jess had not expected was nothing.

When she and Miss Sarah had finally been ordered to approach the castle, they’d stuck close together, walking slowly. As they’d stepped before the main door, someone from within had let out a whistle, and a male-shaped shadow had appeared from the gloom of the night. Steering Jess by the neck, the stranger had taken her inside, while Kane emerged from the door and shoved Miss Sarah in a totally different direction.

Ushered through the large entrance hall, with barely enough time to take in more than the solid, whitewashed walls, and the profusion of bold tartan chairs and sofas, Jess had been vaguely conscious of a group of people standing to one side. They mutely observed her being swiftly manoeuvred past them.

Still held by the back of the neck, she was frogmarched along a narrow corridor by a slim young man Jess hadn’t been able to see clearly in the dark. Whoever he was, he had kept purposely behind her as they strode through the castle, and she hadn’t dared ask him anything as she saw that a spiral staircase of bare stone lay ahead of them.

Two minutes later, they’d reached an open wooden door. With no corridors to either the left or right, there was no other way to go but through, and Jess had suddenly been reminded of Rapunzel, who’d been imprisoned in a room at the top of a tower with nowhere to run.

The guide held her by the shoulders. His unspoken instruction that she should not try to look at him was made clear by the intensity of his grip. With an unexpected burst of speed, the man then took a step down, at the same time urging Jess firmly forward. No sooner had she stepped into the room than the door was snapped shut behind her, and Jess had found herself alone in a circular space which had curtains drawn all the way around it.

Five minutes later, she was still taking slow, deep breaths as she tried to soothe herself. Whatever was happening would be for a reason, and if she knew David Proctor like she thought she did, Jess was sure that somewhere in the room there was probably a camera observing her every move, gauging how she was reacting to this enforced situation.

Standing still, she cast her eyes around the room. If life at Fables had taught her anything, it was that the more detail she took in about her surroundings, and the more attention she paid to every word spoken to her, the more she’d learn, and the better her chances of survival and erotic contentment would be.

‘So, I’m inside the turret, then.’ In the centre of the room, a spindle-backed wooden chair sat next to a matching table. ‘All that’s missing here is a spinning wheel. Forget Rapunzel, this is Sleeping Beauty!’ Jess muttered to herself as she walked around the rug-covered stone floor, skirting the very edges of the room as if she was a tiger patrolling the surrounds of its cage. She ran her hands across the floor to ceiling dark purple velvet curtains. Unsure if she wanted to see or not, she drew them back.

The majority of the room’s walls were constructed of large blocks of bare granite, but as Jess threw open the third curtain, she stepped back in surprise. A wooden door, about four feet high, and two foot across, had been built into the curve of the stone. ‘OK, so maybe this isn’t Sleeping Beauty after all. Maybe it’s Snow White.’

With her heart thumping, Jess placed her hand on the brass doorknob, and bent to see what was through the doorway. ‘Oh thank God!’
It was a washroom. A modern shower cubicle, sink, and toilet were plumbed into the exquisitely tiled carpeted semicircle. Making use of the facilities, Jess wondered if this was to be her room; where she was to spend all her time when she wasn’t doing whatever it was that Proctor expected her to do.

Returning to the larger room, Jess continued to throw back the curtains, wondering if any other cubbyholes were secretly attached to this turret. No more doors appeared but, drawing back the last pair of drapes, Jess jumped as she came face to face with her own bedraggled reflection.

A huge, round mirror stared at her. ‘So maybe this is Snow White! Complete with the scary mirror on the wall and the dwarf-sized door. Which means, I only have the Wicked Queen left to meet.’

As soon as she’d spoken the words she slammed her hand to her mouth, wishing she hadn’t said them out loud. Until that point she’d considered herself to be doing well. She’d shown whoever was watching her via the camera she was convinced was installed in the turret somewhere that she was capable of acting calmly, and was brave enough to explore, not merely sitting and cowering on the chair awaiting her fate. Now she’d blown it. I might as well have laid on the bed and wanked without permission, Jess thought crossly. Instantly, she wished she hadn’t had that thought either, for some solo comfort from her fingers over her ever-damp clit would been have more than welcome…

Hussy by Selena Kitt

HussyThe Eskimos may have over a hundred words for snow, but that doesn’t even come close to how many words the English language has for “slut”—and Lindsey has been called them all. “Hussy” is Lindsey’s personal favorite, given to her by her own grandmother, who likes to pat her on the hand and whisper, “Don’t worry, dear—a hussy is just a woman with the morals of a man.”

But Lindsey’s not ashamed of her reputation. She knows she’s earned it—and she’s proud of it. After all, you only live once, right? In fact, she goes out of her way to make it known to every guy she comes in contact with, she’s available for the taking—the rougher, the better.

That is until Lindsey meets Lieutenant Zachary Davis, a man who refuses to treat her like the trash she believes she really is.

But can Lindsey change her impulsive ways and learn to value herself the way the Zach does?

Warnings: This title contains graphic language and extreme sexual situations as well as a girl with a slutty attitude bigger than Texas covering a haunted past, and a sweet, hot man in uniform dead set on rescuing her from herself.

Note to Readers: This novel was previously released as “Falling Down.”

EXCERPT
“You’re a very pretty girl.”

She shrugged. “Yeah? So?”

He adjusted his white hat, still meeting her eyes. “So you don’t have to do that to get attention.”

Lindsey frowned, snapping her legs together and sitting straight up. “Do what?”

“You know what.”

“What are you all dressed up for—a parade or something?” Lindsey squinted at him and saw he was wearing a name tag: Lieutenant Zachary Davis.

“I’m a recruiter.”

“For what?” Lindsey snorted, looking him up and down. Even the man’s shoes were white! “The Pillsbury Dough Boy?!”

He raised an eyebrow in her direction. “The U.S. Navy.”

“So you’re… what… a sailor?”

“On a nuclear submarine, but yes.” He cocked his head at her. “Do you have any interest in the Navy?”

She rolled her eyes. “Only if we’re at war.”

“We are.”

“Yeah, well… not here we’re not.”

“So what are you interested in…Lindsey?”

He’d obviously been paying attention. She leaned forward, putting her elbows on her knees and her chin in her hands. “Sex… Zach.”

“Is that all?”

“No…” She glanced over at the secretary, who was rifling through papers at her desk, but clearly listening to them. “I also like pina coladas and getting caught in the rain.”

Forbidden Fruit by Selena Kitt

Forbidden FruitLeah and Erica have been best friends and have gone to the same Catholic school since just about forever. Leah spends so much time with the Nolans–just Erica and her handsome father now, since Erica’s mother died–that she’s practically part of the family. When the girls find something naughty under Mr. Nolan’s bed, their strict, repressive upbringing makes it all the more exciting as they begin their sexual experimentation. Leah’s exploration presses deeper, and eventually she finds herself in love for the first time, torn between her best friend and her best friend’s father.

NOTE TO READERS: This story appeared in another, now rather infamous book of mine (UNDER MR. NOLAN’S BED). This tale, previously titled Plaid Skirt Confessions, is a slightly less naughty, but no less sexy re-telling of those events–updated and redressed for your reading pleasure with an ending that may leave you a little more satisfied.

Warnings: This title contains erotic situations, lesbian sex, sex toys, and also makes mention of pornography, salmon, amusement parks, chocolate covered strawberries, brownies (as well as girl scouts), plaid skirts, naughty uses for confessionals and some sacrilegious humor.

EXCERPT

“Did she go home?” I whispered, conscious of Erica sleeping in the other room.

He swallowed and shook his head. His eyes were pleading with me, trying to tell me something, but I couldn’t understand. “No. She’s sleeping in my bed.”

“Why?” I felt tears stinging my eyes and I willed them not to fall. “What did I do?”

He sighed, closing his eyes and running a hand through his hair. “Oh Leah. Nothing. Everything. I don’t know.”

“Do you really like her?” I whispered, blinking fast and taking a step toward him. He didn’t move back, and we were almost belly to belly. “Is she…is she what you want?”

He opened his eyes and looked down at me, arms hanging at his sides, head down. He looked defeated. “No.”

“Then why?” I hissed, shoving at his chest with the flat of my palm. “You asked her out again! You cooked her dinner! You slept with her! Why?”

“I don’t know!” He shook his head. “Why did you do what you did? Putting the magazines and videos on my bed? Was it supposed to scare her off?”

I sighed, crossing my arms. “That was Erica’s idea, not mine.“Erica?” He frowned.

I shrugged, acting like I didn’t care if he believed me. “This isn’t fair.”

“No,” he admitted, moving forward a little, lifting my chin. “It’s really not.”

“I just want to know why.” I met his eyes. I felt my chin quivering in his hand and tried to stop it, but I couldn’t. “Please just tell me why.”

“You want to know why?” His eyes flashed in the dimness, moving over my face. “Fine, I’ll tell you why. For the same reason I was sitting here at one in the morning, waiting for you.”

I stared up at him, eyes wide.

He shook his head, looking pained. “I can’t stop thinking about you, Leah. Everywhere I go, everything I do, there you are. I can’t get you out of my head.”
My throat and chest tightened at his words and I nodded. I knew exactly how he felt.

“I thought…” He swallowed, his hand moving down my neck, over my shoulder, his gaze following the curve there. “I thought that if I moved on, I could stop this crazy thinking. This feeling I have for you…”

“What feeling?” I pressed against him. “Tell me.”

“Leah…” He whispered my name, using his thumb to rub over my lips. “I took her to bed tonight, yes, I did. I fucked her senseless, until I couldn’t see straight—” His words shot arrows into my heart and I felt the sting of them in my chest. “And every time I closed my eyes, I saw your face.” He pressed me back toward the counter with the weight of his body. “It wasn’t her I was touching or kissing or fucking—it was you, Leah. Every minute I was with her, I was wishing it was you.”

“Oh god.” I reached up and put my arms around his neck and pulled his mouth down to mine.

It was like sinking into something dark and warm and soft, the safest place I’d ever been.
