Borgia Fever – Passion and Poison by Michelle Kelly

Borgia FeverIf like me you were a fan of the Showtime series ‘The Borgias’ or more specifically of Francois Arnaud (Cesare Borgia) and his super tight black breeches, then you’ll understand why I chose Borgia Rome as the setting for my second slice of historical erotic romance for the Harlequin ‘Undone’ series.

Two main themes stood out for me while researching the period; passion and the art of poison. The Italians have often been perceived as a passionate lot, and the lustful, vengeful and decadent Borgia family probably contributed more than their fair share to this stereotype (although they were in fact Spanish by blood).

Nothing rouses some life-affirming erotic desire than a close brush with death, with may explain why lust was so readily in the air in Renaissance Rome, as when the key players of the age weren’t trying to get each other into bed, they were trying to kill one another off. In Borgia circles, poison was often the weapon of choice.

The high and holy of Rome were far from immune, with regular allegations of poisoning being aimed at each other by Cardinals and even Popes, in particular the notorious Pope Alexander, otherwise known as Rodrigo Borgia. His daughter, the infamous Lucrezia, reportedly had a special ‘poison ring’ made for her, with a small secret compartment in which she could keep a few drops of the mysterious Borgia poison, cantarella, should she need to murder someone at short notice. Pope Alexander and his children, Lucrezia and Cesare, were a legend in their own lifetime, and a dinner party invitation from the family was enough to fill their contemporaries with horror.

It was clear to me then that my story would revolve around these themes; poison, revenge, passion and of course lust. In ‘Borgia Fever’ Bella is an apothecary involved way over her head in a Borgia poison plot, and when the darkly seductive Marco comes to arrest her, well, it would be rude not to let them indulge their attraction for one another…

Extract from ‘Borgia Fever’.

He backed her against a stone wall, out of sight of the revellers, and she felt the cold against her back in stark contrast to the heat of him in front of her. His hips pressed against the folds of her skirt and she could feel his hardness against her as his tongue explored her mouth. There was no coolness to him now; she could feel the need in his body, in the way his hands gripped her, and she responded with a passion to match, a part of her hardly able to believe this was happening. His mouth moved away from hers only to leave a burning trail of kisses down her neck, over her collarbone and across the tops of her breasts where they swelled above the low neckline of her gown. She gasped as she felt her nipples stiffen under the thin material, wanting his mouth and hands around them. A growing need coiled in the depths of her body, chasing away any thoughts of caution. She was not Bella any longer, spending her days poring over her books or making up tinctures or bartering with merchants, she was a woman at the court of the Borgia, where pleasure was as important as duty. Where indeed, pleasure was a duty.

‘You’re wearing far too many clothes,’ he said.

‘Borgia Fever’ is published in ebook by Harlequin Mills and Boon on 2 Feb, available from all major digital retailers or directly from Harlequin.

Bad Boys of the Ice by Lily Harlem (@lily_harlem)

Hi Lucy, thanks so much for inviting me to your blog. You know I love being your guest, it’s always so cosy and warm here and never any shortage of hotties!

MisconductI’ve dropped in to tell you about my new release, Misconduct, the 6th book in my Hot Ice Series. The Hot Ice books are great read in order but it really doesn’t matter as they standalone as individual novels. The team, the Vipers, stays the same but each story follows the love and lust of a new player and a lucky lady (or guy) who captures their interest.

I love writing about these bad boys of the ice, they just keep on demanding to have their stories told and as long as readers keep on enjoying them I’ll keep on writing them.

HiredThe first book in the series is Hired which won Best First Chapter and Best Cover – Readers Choice, D Renee Bagby – and recently hit the #1 spot on the Amazon Erotic Romance Charts. The second book Cross-Checked won Best Sports Romance of 2012 at Sizzling Book Reviews, the 3rd novel Slap Shot is my personal favorite (perhaps because it features the kinky captain of the team!), the 4th, Teamwork, is ménage a trois, what’s not to love about TWO hot hockey players giving it their best shot in the bedroom with one very happy girl? The 5th book, High-Sticked also graced the Amazon Chart recently and rode high in the Gay Romance top 10 for several weeks. High-Sticked is the only m/m book in the series, Todd, a super-star player and all round gorgeous guy, just had to have his story told!

High-StickedNow Misconduct has been released into the world and I’m looking forward to seeing what readers make of the goaltender, Dustin ‘Speed’ Reed. He’s fast and furious, cocky and charming and has a heart of gold. He also has a few dark desires that he just ‘has’ to follow through on. Phew, I lurve him!

When it came to picking a heroine for Misconduct I chose Gina. She’s the daughter of the owner of the Vipers hockey team, Fergal Gunner, and gets well and truly thrown in at the deep end with the players when her father is taken ill and she has to take over. It’s just as well she’s able to handle herself amongst all those testosterone-overdosed guys because before long she’s juggling more than just the team’s books!

Misconduct

Manage the Vipers hockey team! Me? Well, that’s my role now. Shame a gorgeous, cocky-assed goaltender is testing my patience. Sweet cheeks—really, is that any way to refer to the boss? Dustin “Speed” Reed certainly seems to think so.

It’s okay though. I’ll escape to my billionaire father’s paradise retreat. Except Dustin decides to jump on for the ride. Then the tension really heats up, hotter than the scorching midday sun.

I want to slap him and kiss him. Push him away and rip off his clothes. The feeling is mutual—a potent cocktail of anger mixed with lust. I know we shouldn’t. It can’t end well, especially when I’m going give him the sack as soon as I push him out of it.

But what’s the fun in having rules if no one ever breaks them? I’ll take what I can, give him what he wants and worry about balancing the books tomorrow. Surely my heart will be fine.

Slap ShotIf you like hot hockey players or just hot athletes in general, then you might want to check out the entire Hot Ice Series . Also, indulge in a few steamy pictures on my  Pinterest page – I have the real thing, hot ice and High-Sticked boards. There’s also a great new one-stop-shop website to cater for all your hockey romance needs – Hockey Romance with it’s own Facebook Page.

Lucy, thank you again for having me ‘skate’ on over to your place. Wishing everyone a lovely day full of fictional delights!

Gay/Straight Alpha Males: Hype or Stereotype? by Tyler Robbins (@robin_badillo)

I’ve found myself paying more and more attention to people lately. Not because I want to, but because, as a writer, I really have to. Strangely enough, what’s really caught my attention is the way people, in general, typically see gay men.

Take my father for instance. He’s a product of the 60’s and was only seventeen when I was born in ’69. (yeah, I don’t mind telling my age)

He reached adulthood in the middle of a worldwide revolution of epic proportions with the equal rights movement, Vietnam, The Cold War, sex, drugs and rock-n-roll, not to mention becoming a father while still in high school.

For a blue-collar, country boy from east Texas, and rather conservative in his ideals, he’s secure enough with his masculinity to admit his man-crush on Matthew McConaughey. (Who hasn’t fantasized about that one?)

That being said, he still falls into a category of people who believe gay men are, as he’s put it, limp-wristed. He’s under the impression that in order for a man to be gay, he must be overtly feminine, and for a woman to be lesbian, she must be excessively masculine and butch.

Sadly, he’s not alone.

It’s this wide-spread misconception that drives me to write gay, male characters more aligned with the reality of all men, gay or straight. They come in all shapes, sizes, and ethnicities. They have different likes, dislikes, personalities, and believe it or not, they can like sports, and kick some ass. They can be broody, hard-headed, and even out of touch with their emotions and feelings. Sounds like any man, right?

Gay men are no different than straight men, with the exception of the obvious, their sexual preferences. It really bugs me when people see a stereotype and run with it, as though it’s the “rule”.

There have been occasions when my kids and I have been discussing certain movies or television programs, and one of them (usually my oldest daughter) mentions the fact that a particular actor is gay. We’ll start discussing how much we love the actor, his partner, and how cute they look together.

This is when my dad usually freaks out, unable to believe the actor is gay. “That guy’s not gay. He’s playing a married man!”

Um, yes, Dad. It’s called acting. 🙂

The same goes when people see a straight man/woman playing an LGBT character. People really don’t get it, and I find the confusion intriguing, but disheartening at the same time.

What’s so hard to understand?

Are we so far behind in social development that everything and everyone must follow some rule or ideal to make everyone else happy?

Should gay men wear pink or a sign on their chests declaring their gayness? Look at me!! I’m here! I’m gay, and I’m fab-u-lous!! *finger snap

I don’t wear a sign stating: Middle-aged, Overweight, Under-sexed, Mother of Four.

Though, to be fair, nobody really cares about me anyway.

I, for one, love the surprise and the refreshing truth of being human, sexuality aside. The hype behind how one should “look” or “act” depending on their sexuality is outdated and cliché. And to be honest, it’s somewhat naïve and borders on being insulting.

I personally enjoy writing male characters in general, gay or straight. Characters who break the molds, and live up to their reputations as dominators, the protectors, the chest-pounding, howling at the moon, alpha male. Or the smart, geeky guy who still saves the day with his brains and clever wit. Outsmarting his foe with finesse and style, but who will still take a beating or a bullet for the one he loves.

The kind of man who rules the bedroom with a fire in his eyes, and a feverish need in his groin, wrapped in a package of muscles and brawn, who will take you like a hungry beast when passion flares, or instantly morph into the tenderest lover ever known at the sound of his partner’s vulnerable sigh.

There’s no degree of masculinity set in stone for any character as long as he meets the qualification of a hero and exceeds the reader’s expectations.

So the next time you pick up a book, take a second to think about what you expect to find between the pages. If the hero surprises you, then you’ve found exactly what every character, gay or straight, should bring to a story—reality.

The Becoming promo cover“The Becoming”

Evernight Publishing’s Alpha’s Claim Manlove Anthology

Every year, wolf packs along the Texas Gulf Coast gather for what is known as the becoming. A ceremony where young adult shifters transition into their wolf form for the first time and when each wolf’s spirits selects their destined mate.

As the son of an alpha, Josh Spinner has dreaded this day ever since he first realized he was gay, but planned to go through with the becoming, denying his true self forever.

Braden Scott, the only son of an exiled omega wolf, has lived in the shadows of shame since his father’s banishment before he was even born. The becoming was his only shot of ever being accepted into the fold.

Neither man expected their undeniable attraction and neither are prepared for the fallout that follows.

Natural selection separates the men from the boys, but destiny seals their fate.

Excerpt:

Braden followed him for several minutes until the light from the campfires faded into the darkness behind them. Out of breath and feeling like he was about to come out of his own skin, he backed off. “I’m just trying to figure it out, man.”

In an instant, Josh stopped, turned on his heel and charged at Braden, slamming him against a tree.

Braden’s heart jumped, and his cock thumped the second he felt Josh’s erection pressing against his hip.

“Leave me the fuck alone.”

Braden drew in a deep breath to calm himself. “Why?”

Josh’s nostrils flared, and he seemed to search Braden’s eyes. The tight strain on his brow loosened with each passing second, and he slowly released the intimidating hold on Braden. “Because you’re gonna fuck everything up.”

Confused, Braden reached out and gripped Josh’s shoulder. “I didn’t do anything.”

Josh’s gaze drifted down to Braden’s mouth, and he licked his lips. “My future’s been planned. I’m destined to be an alpha.” Pausing, he clenched his jaw and blinked rapidly as though desperate to explain. “But I’ve never—”

“So you do feel it?”

Josh pushed away. “My whole fucking life I’ve waited to feel … that. Whatever it was.”

“I have, too.”

Josh’s chest rose and fell, and his expression twisted. “They won’t allow it.”

“You don’t know that.”

He shook his head. “Yeah, I do.”

“Are there rules?”

“Rules?” Josh stepped back and laughed sarcastically. “Some rules are the same in all societies, shifter and human.”

Braden reached out for him, unable to go another second without touching the other man. “I have to know.”

“Know what?”

“This.” He grabbed Josh by the collar of his shirt and jerked him near. “I gotta know, even if it’s just one time, how it feels to be true to myself.”

Josh closed his eyes. His nostrils flared wide, and his hands trembled as he grasped Braden’s shoulder.

Braden’s shaky exhale echoed between them, and he inched closer until he could literally taste Josh’s breath. “Gotta—”

Josh’s mouth engulfed his, and Braden whimpered from the rush of emotions bombarding his entire body like hot coals from a raging fire zapping out one by one, torpedoing his skin, inch by glorious inch.

Braden wrapped his tongue around Josh’s and sucked it into his mouth, deeper and deeper, as if consuming the other man would satisfy his insatiable appetite for more. He jammed his hardened cock against Josh’s and dry humped him through their jeans. “Feels so right.”

An Interview with Shiloh Saddler (@shilohsaddler)

I’m delighted to welcome Shiloh Saddler to my site today, to talk about her latest release, her addiction to coffee and the hotness that is Matt Bomer.

Saltwater LoverTell us about yourself. Both your writing self and your non-writing self. What are your interests and hobbies? Do you have a day job, etc?

Let’s see I’m addicted to coffee. That’s like the first thing everyone who meets me learns. I’m a cat person and love spending a lot of time with my black cat. I enjoy being in the outdoors and am hoping we’ll get snow soon so I can go snowmobiling. I live a quiet life and spend a lot of time in my pyjamas, book in hand.

The best part about being a writer is setting your own hours. I’m a night owl and I’m often writing or editing until midnight or one o’clock in the morning. During the day I often make my office at the local Starbucks. And people watching has now become a hobby. So watch out!

Give us the background on your latest release.

Saltwater Lover primarily takes place aboard a slaving ship in 1800. I had to do a lot of research on the slave trade and voyages from Africa to America. I was surprised to learn there was no mandated size for a slaving ship and many were small ships with a barebones crew. The Captain had a lot put on his shoulders to look after his cargo, man the ship, and see to his crew. I hope I conveyed all of those responsibilities in my portrayal of Captain Mather.

How did you get started with writing? And what was your route to publication like?

I have many friends who are writers and they encouraged me to write some of my sexy ideas down. It took a lot of convincing to get me started and then I was hooked.

I was lucky. The first novella I wrote was accepted by the e-publisher I submitted it to. I like the digital age. I’m a big fan of ebooks.

What are you currently working on?

I’m working on a historical M/M interracial wolf shifter series set in the antebellum south. This will be my first time going outside the bounds of straight historical romance. I’m actually having a lot of fun with my wolf shifter guys.

Do you have a particular Muse for your writing? Do any of your characters bear startling resemblances to sexy celebrities or people you admire?

No. Every story is inspired by something different. I don’t keep track of celebrities very much. As a GLBT historical romance author my muse tends to be more of a historical nature. Perhaps a history textbook I read or a documentary I saw on TV.

Where do you see yourself in five years? Both writing-wise and non-writing-wise?

I see myself continuing to write GLBT historical romance, however I may expand to other genres: contemporary, fantasy, sci-fi. I will have built up quite a backlist of titles and hopefully gotten myself a website.

Non-writing wise I see myself owning a house and having a writing office and fighting over the computer chair with my cat.

And now for some silly questions…

Muscled or skinny? Muscled

Tall or short? Tall

Boxers or briefs? Briefs

Moustache or beard? Beard

Long hair or shaven head? Long hair

Tattoos or piercings? Tattoos

Intelligent or funny? Intelligent

Blond, brunette or red head? Blond

Hottest celebrity (tell us why, if you like)? Matt Bomer from White Collar. That guy is sexy and smart. I like a man who walks a little on the wild side.

Top same-sex crush (or opposite sex if you already like same-sex!) Carrie Underwood. She’s beautiful inside and out and she can sing!

Most disliked celebrity (tell us why, if you like) Miley Cyrus… I think she’s gone crazy.

Favourite food Chocolate

Favourite book (tell us why, if you like) That changes all the time! Right now I’ll say

Favourite place in the world (tell us why, if you like)

Anything else you’d like to add?

Now give us the blurb, an extract and buy links for your latest release.

In 1800, Kojo is a native African with deep connections to the spirits—but those spirits choose not to save him from the slaving ship. He’s captured and taken aboard, where he meets Captain Mather. During the long journey to America, not even the spirits can save him from their growing attraction. Love blooms. A doomed love. For when they land, Kojo’s fate is to be sold.

Captain Mather can’t imagine Kojo being treated as a slave. Desperate to spare him from that life, the captain hides him, taking him to his home. When he’s blackmailed by a mutinous former crewmember, there seems little choice but to sell his ship and pay. Anything to save the man he loves.

Excerpt:

When the captain reached him, Kojo’s pulse quickened, jumping several beats. The man’s green gaze scanned his muscular chest, glistening with sweat from the long walk. He wrapped a hand around Kojo’s chin, drawing his face gently toward him. His touch was not forceful as Kojo had expected, only enough pressure to direct the movement. The captain smelled of tobacco and rum and a spice Kojo couldn’t name. It was a manly, intoxicating scent.

The man’s calloused fingers trailed down Kojo’s neck, lingering for a moment at the base of his throat. Kojo felt the man’s hot breath on his lips, merely inches from his own. His round face and toned arms made it hard for Kojo to guess his age. A few strands of silver were mixed into his beard and at his hairline but were hard to see—perhaps forty?

Unbridled lust gleamed in the captain’s eyes and yet Kojo wasn’t terrified. It made him feel alive, wanted. Under the man’s predatory gaze, Kojo’s cock thickened, straining against the confines of his breechcloth. No man had looked at him or touched him like that before. And he liked it.

The captain smiled, the harshness in his eyes easing by a fraction.

Kojo’s cheeks burned.

One of the catchermen laughed, peering at Kojo’s loins.

The heat in Kojo’s cheeks spread throughout his whole body. He lowered his gaze, staring at his feet.

The captain shouted at the laughing man and he shut up.

The muscular white man guarding him started arguing with the captain. Kojo didn’t know what they were saying, but the man pointed at him. The captain must have told the man to guard another section of slaves, because his guard changed.

Returning his attention to Kojo, he tipped up his chin as if to tell him not to be ashamed. Then he slipped his fingers around the sacred bead hanging on a piece of leather from his neck. Kojo figured the man was going to cut it off with the small knife hanging in a sheath on his belt. But he didn’t.

The captain’s hand barely brushed his chest as he let go of the bead. The contact was so light Kojo wondered if he had imagined it. Gooseflesh rose on his arms. Then he was gone, leaving him alone with his strange, unmet desires.

Thanks again for stopping by. I hope you enjoyed this interview and wish you the best of luck with your latest release. Many sales!

An Interview with Leigh Ellwood (@LeighEllwood)

I’m delighted to welcome Leigh Ellwood to the site, where she’s dishing the dirt on her life and her new and upcoming releases. Welcome, Leigh!

Tell us about yourself. Both your writing self and your non-writing self. What are your interests and hobbies? Do you have a day job, etc?

Thanks for having me today! I am happily married, mother of one. I work full-time in book publishing and sales, and write romance and mystery. I have been published for about ten years now under different pen names, and I enjoy writing a variety of romantic and erotic sub-genres. I practice yoga daily for exercise, and drink a lot of caffeine!

A Taste Of VanillaGive us the background on your latest release.

My latest short is a lesbian erotic story called A TASTE OF VANILLA. It’s an interracial romance, about a woman experimenting with her sexuality and going outside the box, testing her comfort zones, to find the perfect mate. This story appeared in a shorter version in an anthology I edited for Coming Together (COMING TOGETHER: GIRL ON GIRL). I revised and lengthened the story for solo release, and plan to write more in a series.

I also have stories coming out later this year with Ellora’s Cave and Decadent Publishing.

How did you get started with writing? And what was your route to publication like?

I have been writing in some form or another for most of my life, but I published my first story for a Colorado magazine when I was 19. After several rejections, I published my first novel ten years later. I have written articles for magazines, greeting cards, book reviews, blogs…you name it. It seems I was born with a pen in my hand.

What are you currently working on?

I am currently working on follow-up stories for my Ellora’s Cave and Decadent releases. The EC story is a lesbian romance, and the Decadent is M/M.

Do you have a particular Muse for your writing? Do any of your characters bear startling resemblances to sexy celebrities or people you admire?

Not really. Many authors picture a film star, but the faces of my characters don’t take on those physical qualities. I try to keep original images when I create people in my stories. As for muses, I find the world is my muse. I’ll hear a song, see something on the news, then I get an idea.

Where do you see yourself in five years? Both writing-wise and non-writing-wise?

I hope to have more books, more readers, and a bit more money in five years! I guess we all want that as authors, but as long as I can move around without feeling pain I’m good.

And now for some silly questions…

Muscled or skinny? Always liked the skinny boys, don’t know why.

Tall or short? Tall – my husband is tall.

Boxers or briefs? Boxers – they’re colourful.

Moustache or beard? Actually neither – I like them clean shaven.

Long hair or shaven head? Long hair, good for pulling. J

Tattoos or piercings? Again, neither. They don’t do anything for me.

Intelligent or funny? How about intelligently funny?

Blond, brunette or red head? Brunettes – we do have fun, too.

Hottest celebrity (tell us why, if you like)? This varies, but currently it’s Tom Hiddleston. Just saw his Henry V and it was stunning.

Top same-sex crush (or opposite sex if you already like same-sex!) I’ve always liked Kate Winslet, ever since Sense and Sensibility.

Most disliked celebrity (tell us why, if you like) I could live without all the real housewives and reality “stars”. I don’t see the appeal in shows where people shout at each other for thirty minutes.

Favourite food Eggs Benedict for brunch. I only have it once a year or so, it’s so rich.

Favourite book (tell us why, if you like) Too many to list here. I love Dick Francis mysteries, the Harry Potter books, the Valdemar books by Mercedes Lackey.

Favourite place in the world (tell us why, if you like) New York City, just because.

Anything else you’d like to add? Go, Braves!

A TASTE OF VANILLA by Leigh Ellwood

Beautiful Cecile Robbins smells like spice and vanilla, and Hailie can’t resist a taste. Curiosity turns into sensual exploration in this sexy F/F romance.

Excerpt

Hailie watched the onscreen couple embrace and kiss, and swallowed back a catch in her throat. She’d seen her share of love scenes in her favorite soaps and movies, but never two women together, and this looked damn near pornographic by comparison. When Veronique—Hailie assumed she was the blond-haired one—sat back on her heels and slid a hand up the other woman’s thigh, Hailie felt the touch in her heart, then down to her pussy. She knew they were actors, but the emotion appeared genuine, and it certainly moved Hailie.

Veronique edged closer to her lover, pushing out her shadowed pussy to connect with the other woman’s thigh. The camera zeroed in just as their mounds pressed together and began a slow grind. Light moaning and breathing accompanied their rhythmic lovemaking, drawing Hailie deeper into this world of grainy black and white sin.

Something pressed against her knee. Hailie looked down at Cecile’s fingers tracing a circle on Hailie’s slacks.

She turned to Cecile, whispering despite their seclusion. “You planned this, didn’t you?”

“I wouldn’t call it a plan,” Cecile said. “More of a spontaneous action,” she lifted her hand, “but if you’re uncomfortable I’ll stop—”

“I meant the movie.”

Cecile laughed. “I don’t pick the schedule here.”

“You picked the meeting place,” Hailie pointed out, “and how convenient it was to hook up in time to catch this particular show—”

Cecile silenced her with a kiss, with soft lips and a gentle thrust of her tongue across the seam of Hailie’s closed mouth. She felt warm and the aroma of vanilla strengthened with their closeness. Blood pounded in Hailie’s head, muffling the background noise of Sapphic ecstasy. Hailie couldn’t move—unsure of what to do in return. Open her mouth? Reach over and pull Cecile to her?

An Interview with Elizabeth Morgan (@EMorgan2010)

I’m delighted to have Elizabeth Morgan on my blog today, dishing the dirt on her day job, mythology and The Big Bang Theory. Take it away, Elizabeth…

Tell us about yourself. Both your writing self and your non-writing self. What are your interests and hobbies? Do you have a day job, etc?

As Elizabeth Morgan I write erotic romance, mainly in the subgenres; paranormal, urban fantasy, and contemporary.

Non-writing me has a day job in a clothes shop. When I’m not at work, or writing, I tend to watch a lot of films, or read, or I’m being hassled by my two cats to feed, cuddle, or play with them. And from spring to autumn I spend a fair bit of time gardening.

I’m constantly listening to music; I actually studied musical theatre in college. I originally wanted to be an actress. I do love anything theatrical. I actually collect costume masks. I am fascinated by Greek and Egyptian mythology as well as folklore and fairytales.

The idea for Truth or Dare? Was inspired by an episode of The Big Bang Theory. It was the episode where Leonard’s mother visits, and drives Penny and Leonard to drink. They end up getting rather drunk by doing Tequila shots, and things turn a little naughty. Yeah, you’ve seen this episode.

Anyway, I watched this episode – and this particular scene – and I just thought, “hmm, what a sexy and fun little story this would make.” Throw a naughty game of Truth or Dare? Into the mix and the rest of the story just grew from there.

How did you get started with writing? And what was your route to publication like?

I have wrote on and off since childhood, but it wasn’t until I was in college and we were given assignments to write our own scripts that I actually really got into it. A friend of mine read one of my scripts and told me that I should try writing a book, so I did, and have continued to do so.

My route to publication was rather slow at first. I was submitting books for about two years. I think I received about 60 rejections, before I got my first acceptance, but unfortunately the company shut down shortly after.

Three months later, my submissions were accepted and May 2011 marked the release of my debut novella.

What are you currently working on?

I am currently reading through my paranormal erotic romance, She-Wolf – The Blood Series Prequel – and editing/tweaking/polishing it for self-publication. Once I have finished and passed it on to my editor, I then plan to go through Cranberry Blood – Book 1 in The Blood Series – so it is ready to go to my editor when she is finished with She-Wolf.

I plan to self-publish these first two books in the series Summer of this year, and at least start on book 2, but before I begin the second untitled book, I will be working on reinventing an assigned Grimm’s Fairytale as part of Decadent Publishing’s new series, Beyond Fairytales. Very exciting.

Do you have a particular Muse for your writing? Do any of your characters bear startling resemblances to sexy celebrities or people you admire?

No, I’m afraid I have no muse, and when characters stroll into my head they don’t resemble any sexy celebs, which is to some degree a shame, but then nice to have fresh new sexy faces stealing my attention.

Where do you see yourself in five years? Both writing-wise and non-writing-wise?

In five years time I see myself writing full time, and not having to work in a retail job that is sucking the soul out of me.

Non- writing wise, well in five years time I will be 30 going on 31, so I guess starting my own family would be what I hope to be doing by then.

Damn, five years doesn’t seem like an awfully long time. Ha.

And now for some silly questions…

Muscled or skinny?
I don’t really mind either. A healthy average.

Tall or short?
Tall, but only because I’m 5ft7 lol

Boxers or briefs?
Briefs

Moustache or beard?
As crazy as it sounds, it actually depends on the style. Some guys really look good with moustaches and beards.

Long hair or shaven head?
Long hair. Nice to have something to tangle your fingers in ;-P

Tattoos or piercings?
Tattoos. There’s something kinda sexy about them.

Intelligent or funny?
Funny

Blond, brunette or red head?
Any. Hair colour has never really been something I pay too much attention to.

Hottest celebrity (tell us why, if you like)?
Justin Hartley. He played Green Arrow in Smallville. The man gets better looking with age, but it’s his smile. Cheesy I know, but he has the most amazing smile and grin, and he has some really funny expressions.

Top same-sex crush (or opposite sex if you already like same-sex!)
Emma Stone. She’s a fab actress. She’s pretty, but not stereotypically so, and she is just really funny.

Most disliked celebrity (tell us why, if you like)
Beyonce

Favourite food
Such a difficult question ‘cos I really like food in general, but let’s say, Nachos. They are so fattening and bad for you, but they taste soooooo good.

Favourite book (tell us why, if you like)
I don’t actually have a fave book. I have books which I really enjoyed and blew me away; for example The Iron Duke by Meljean Brook, I just thought that was an amazing story. Her world building, and history, and the characters. . . wow. Basically, any story that made me go “damn, I wish I had wrote this,” is classed as a fave, and believe me there are a lot of them lol

Favourite place in the world (tell us why, if you like)
I haven’t really been very many places, especially outside of the UK. So, I can’t really say I have a fave place, but I did go to Rome a couple years back and I just thought it was awesome.

Anything else you’d like to add?

I’m now hungry and want to watch Smallville lol

Truth or Dare?

Truth or DareBlurb:

Do you dare tell the truth?

A tequila fuelled game of Truth or Dare is not Dani’s idea of fun, but when Cameron, the jerk who rejected her a year ago is the one provoking her into playing, how can she say no? Not that he’s giving her the option in the first place.

Bravado compels her forward, but when the dares get physical and their friends leave them alone, Cameron’s questions turn to her feelings for him, and unfortunately, lying is not part of the game.

Will a dare give Dani the courage she needs to tell Cameron the truth?

Excerpt:

“Fine, I will take a dare.” I glanced at Ben. “What do you want me to do?”

A wicked grin spread across his lips. It was almost as sexy as his brother’s. “I want you to lick salt off Cameron, and then take the lime from his mouth.”

He had to be fucking kidding. “What?”

“You heard the man.” The amusement ran clear in Cameron’s voice.

An idiotic bout of nerves skipped through me. “And do I dare ask where I will be drinking the tequila from?”

Ben’s gaze flicked to Cameron, who I couldn’t bring myself to look at. Holding up my hand, I cut Ben off before he suggested anything else.

“Never mind. I’ll do it.” Untangling my legs, I slid off the sofa, levelling a look at Cameron.

He pulled his T-shirt over his head, and my mouth dried at the way his six-pack rippled with each movement. He was solid, perfect. His skin was a healthy bronze. A fine dusting of dark hair ran from his navel and crept down into his jeans. I couldn’t help but follow the teasing path with my gaze….

“See something you like?”

Did I ever. I hated to admit it, but he was the kind of guy you just wanted to lick—well, anything off of.

“Nope. I’m just wondering why removing your top is necessary. Scared I’m going to spill my drink on your T-shirt?”

His lips turned upward. “Man told you to lick salt off me, but he didn’t say where you would be licking the salt from.”

Now give us your author bio and website/social media links.

Elizabeth started life wanting to be an actress because she loved entertaining people. She enjoyed nothing more than being able to make people laugh and to help distract them from reality for a few hours.

She studied Musical Theatre in college, but during her second year, her mind started to overflow with story ideas, so she began writing plays. Slowly, over the following three years, she was writing more and more, channelling every ounce of her imagination into the written word.

Now here she is, years later, hiding away like a hermit in her little cottage in Cheshire, England, writing like crazy and loving every minute of it.
