The Professor’s Student by Bronwyn Green (@Bronwyn_Green)

The Professor's StudentBlurb:

Six weeks in Ireland on a Bronze Age archeological dig is exactly what Josie Cooper needs. She loves teaching, but fieldwork is where her heart is, and working with Professor Declan O’Shaughnessy is a dream come true…until she meets the man. Declan is brilliant, gorgeous, and unapologetically arrogant. By the end of the first week, Josie is ready to push him into the Atlantic.

Unfortunately, annoyance doesn’t stop her physical reaction to him. Nor does it stop the way every accidental touch makes her crave more. More of his hands on her skin. More of his lilting voice in her ear.

Knowing Josephine Cooper’s reputation in the archeology world, Declan is thrilled that she’d accepted his invitation to work the dig. However, he hadn’t counted on his overwhelming attraction to the American professor. Though he tries to maintain his distance and keep things professional between them, that plan goes to hell when he learns that Josephine returns his interest. And when an opportunity to act on that attraction, as well as explore her submission, presents itself, he jumps at it—taking complete control.

For the next five weeks, Josie agrees to submit to Declan. His instruction awakens needs she didn’t know she possessed, and she learns more about desire and herself than she would have thought possible. But what happens when their time is over, and Josie has to give up being his student to go back to being the professor again?

Excerpt:

Josie stared down at the remaining bit of metal in her palm and fought to keep from hyperventilating. Declan wanted her to put these little torture devices on her nipples. And wander around this pub without a bra.

“The loo is right back there,” he pointed out helpfully, a wicked smile curving his lips and excitement brightening his seawater-colored eyes.

“Okay.” She sighed.

“Okay…?” He was clearly waiting for something.

It clicked. “Okay, Professor.” She felt a little silly saying it, but a perverse thrill also shot through her veins as she did.

He nodded his approval, and she pushed her chair away from the table and walked back to the bathroom on trembling legs. She was really doing this. She was going to submit to Declan. She was going to let him do god knew what kinds of kinky things to her. And it was starting, right now.

Technically, she supposed it had started yesterday when she’d followed his directive not to masturbate. But now…now, it was far more real. And more than a little scary. But, for some reason, she trusted him. And she knew that, if she said her safeword, he’d stop.

Once inside the tiny, but surprisingly bright, bathroom, she ducked into an open stall and locked the door behind her. Pulling off her t-shirt and bra, she hung them on a hook. Then, she removed the clamp from the tip of her finger and nearly groaned as the blood rushed back to fill the neglected area. She glanced down at her chest, where her already hard nipples stood out in tight little buds—needy and aching.

Plucking and twisting one of them, she hardened it further before sliding the bars around the distended flesh and tightening the pins. Her breath caught at the squeezing sensation, and she cranked the screws a little more. Before she could chicken out, she repeated the action on the other side, clamping the tender tip between the skin-warmed pieces of metal until it matched the tight grip on the other side.

Breathing deeply, she slumped against the wall, the steel cold against her back, and tried to calm her body’s rioting responses. Her nipples throbbed, but the pain only ramped her desire for Declan higher. And her pussy flooded with moisture. If she’d been wearing panties, they’d be completely drenched. She was sure of it.

She wrapped her fingers around her shirt, but let go just as quickly. She had to know what it felt like. Declan said she couldn’t make herself come. He hadn’t said anything about touching herself while attaching the clamps. After all, she reasoned, she needed to make sure they were secure. That they wouldn’t fall off when she put her shirt back on. Holding her breath, she brushed her fingertips over her aching flesh and nearly groaned. They were more sensitive than they’d ever been. It was as if all her nerve endings were on high alert, and they were all focused on her nipples. She couldn’t help herself, she did it again. And again. Each brush of her fingertips created an answering tug in her cunt. She pinched the throbbing tips, and her pussy clenched tight. She had to force herself to stop, or she was going orgasm right there in that tiny bathroom.

She yanked her shirt off the hook and over her head, her breath hissing out when the fabric coasted over her swollen nipples. The normally soft cotton felt as if it was scraping against her skin. Balling up her bra in her hand, because she hadn’t thought to bring her purse into the bathroom with her, she stepped out of the stall and surveyed herself in the mirror.

Her nipples thrust noticeably against the knit fabric of her white, scoop-neck t-shirt. She yanked the fabric flush against her torso. The clamps were apparent when she did that, but they were pretty much undetectable when her top hung normally. It was painfully clear that she was aroused, but at least her reward wasn’t visible. She tugged her shirt down a little farther, exposing more of her cleavage. If the professor wanted to play, she’d give as good as she got.

Holding her head high, and thrusting out her chest a little more than was strictly necessary, she walked slowly back to their table. She kept her gaze on Declan and ignored both the subtle and obvious stares as she made her way through the crowd gathered near the bar.

As she sat down and shoved her bra into her purse, Declan’s eyes dropped to her chest then slowly climbed back up to hers. “I was beginning to think I should send in a search party after you.” His voice was suddenly rough with what she assumed was arousal. “Did you have any trouble?”

She held his gaze, but it was impossible to hide her smile, the pleasure she felt at toying with him. “Define trouble.”

He sat back and raised an eyebrow at her, crossing his arms over his chest. “Walk me through it.”

Leaning forward, she hissed as her nipples skimmed the tabletop. “I went into a stall, took off my shirt and bra, then I attached my reward.”

“And that’s it?”

“Well, I had to make sure they weren’t going to fall off,” she murmured, lowering her eyes and staring up at him through her lashes, wondering if she’d earned herself a mysterious punishment.

“And how did you do that?”

“I brushed my fingers across my nipples a few times. I didn’t want to risk losing them.”

“So, you were playing with your nipples?”

She nodded, stomach tightening nervously.

He leaned forward and drew a finger down along her breastbone. “And how did it feel?”

Her eyes closed at his roughly muttered question.

“So good,” she whispered. But, to her ears, it sounded like more of a groan.

“Show me.”

Her eyes flew open, and she stared at him. “What?”

“I said, show me.”

“In here?”

He shrugged as if unconcerned.

“I can’t do that now. There are people everywhere.”

“So, you’re ready to safeword, then?”

She knew a challenge when she heard one, and this one was unmistakable. “No.”

“No…?”

“No, Professor,” she murmured. Glancing around, she realized only one person was paying them any attention at all—just the bartender. And when would she ever see him again? Ignoring the man as best she could, she sat back in her chair and slowly skimmed her hands over her stomach, letting her fingers drift upward over the lower swell of her breasts until she reached her nipples. She brushed her fingertips over them a few times before pinching firmly, sucking in a harsh breath between her clenched teeth.

“Jesus, Mary and Joseph,” Declan breathed almost reverently. Or maybe it was irreverently given the reason for his declaration.

Erotic Takeover by Tina Donahue (@tinadonahue)

Erotic TakeoverBlurb:

He’ll unleash her indecent desires…in the most provocative way possible

Working for a celebrated photographer of lush nudes, many with BDSM themes, isn’t easy for Jodi. She’s full-figured, wholesome and longing for Mac, her bad boy boss. His shaggy hair, wicked tat and total hotness make her dream of ditching her work as his assistant to get down on her knees as his eager sub. If he’d only notice her.

Who says he hasn’t? As laid-back as they come, Mac can’t get over how uptight Jodi is around him…like he might bite her. Not what he has in mind. Her guileless nature and voluptuous figure do dangerous things to his self-control.

Lucky for him a client’s request has Jodi finally yielding to her sensual nature, because Mac’s fully prepared to dominate, demanding her submission, delivering punishment. In other words, an erotic takeover.

Excerpt:

Mac slung the leather strap over his shoulder and dropped the manacles on a table to the side. The lightweight metal clinked delicately in comparison to the noise of the savage music. Its harsh bass matched his pounding pulse.

He’d done it again. Without even trying, he’d run Jodi off. Every time he caught her watching him, she acted as though he was going to bite her…or maybe fire her. Was she worried about losing her job?

Mac hadn’t a clue. Since he’d been old enough to notice women, their emotions had baffled him. In middle and high school, the girls had liked how he looked and he sure as hell loved how they felt, so they’d hooked up for some good times. When those brief encounters had ended, there were endless recriminations and tears from the girls. Eventually, he’d learned to expect that. Females got pissed about nearly everything. They cried. They also survived to weep another day.

Teaser Ad OneDuring college, he’d admittedly acted like a dog, mounting every woman who moved. No way would he get married even once or—god forbid—would he repeat his parents’ mistakes by tying the knot more than once. He was simply out for a good time and an education. Again there’d been the breakup fights. His ex-girlfriends always avoided him as they would an STD. But he’d never had a woman behave that way before he’d even touched them.

What was with Jodi? More than once, Mac had sensed her interest, seeing desire in her eyes when he unexpectedly caught her watching him. At first, he’d thought she’d disapproved of him photographing nudes for a living—especially with the added debauchery of BDSM. That notion had died a quick death when he’d noted her flushed cheeks and barely contained excitement.

No different from a few minutes ago.

For a second, she’d surrendered within his gaze, her hazel eyes glistening with arousal. Her lips had parted in seeming anticipation of his tongue or maybe his cock. In that moment, he’d again recognized a kindred spirit. She liked naughty games. She wanted a Dom to punish her for being bad then love her until he’d drained away her doubt, replacing it with wonder and joy.

Mac liked that. He enjoyed her.

Jodi didn’t come on strong like most of the women he knew. Shit, she didn’t come on at all. She sure as hell didn’t worry about her looks, which was a relief. Mac couldn’t count the times he’d tried to have a real conversation with one of the models—discussing the craziness of a current war or the horrors of the latest workplace shooting—only to have her nod absently while she caught glimpses of herself in any reflective surface she could find.

Jodi didn’t do that. She was unbelievably levelheaded and genuine. With her, Mac sensed a man could be himself. He wouldn’t have to put on a show and prove he was more than he could ever be. Imperfect was good enough. Being simply human would suffice. Her quiet manner and intelligence not only comforted, it aroused.

Hollywood Royalty by TS McKinney – Out Now! #bdsm #humor #contemporaryromance

Hollywood RoyaltyBlurb

Victoria Winstead.  My parents are the reigning King and Queen of Hollywood and since I am their only child, that clearly means I am a pampered princess who is accustomed to getting everything I want, when I want it, and how I want it…and right now, I want the most coveted role in Hollywood.  Only one thing stands in my way.

Grayson Leman.  This bastard is the only son of the reigning Prince and Princess of Hollywood and I hate everything about him, always have and always will.  Our families have a history and it isn’t pretty. It’s ugly, Hollywood style.  Oh yeah, he’s the one thing standing in my way.

Annabelle Hutchinson.  She’s the creation of a writing trio that has managed to rock the entire female population with their erotica novel, Dark Lovers.  They have single-handedly brought mommy porn front and center and made it not only acceptable but sexy as hell.  A movie deal was made and I am literally (this is embarrassing to say) having to actually fight for something for the first time in my life.

Not to worry, though…I am Hollywood Royalty.

“You leaving in the morning, Gabe?  Or staying the day?”  His band members got up and shook his hand as he started to leave.  They didn’t tease him, but I could tell they wanted to.  Badly.

“I’m staying.  I’ll see you Sunday night.”

“Great.  Okay.  You guys have an…an exciting night.”  He was stalling.  I swear he was stalling.

Honestly folks, I didn’t want to say anything.  It had been my vow to myself to give him the silent treatment all evening long.  I had done so well.  I should probably be nominated for an Oscar for my performance. Not one time did I lean in to sniff his intoxicating scent.  Nope, I didn’t.  Nor did I allow my gaze to stray toward that body that was made for nothing but pure undiluted sin. Nope, the only time I looked at  him was to roll my eyes or glare.  Ignoring him had been my only task for the evening.  I had been an awesome bitch…up until now.  For some reason, unknown to me, I couldn’t stop the word from slipping between my lips as he turned to walk away.

“Pussy.”

Memphis had to struggle to keep the full blown smile from covering her face.  Gabe didn’t even try to hide his reaction.  He slammed his fist on the table.  The rest of the table just looked shocked and appalled by my outburst.  I felt a blush start to stain my cheeks and I fought furiously to clamp down on the feeling.  I didn’t need to feel bad for being mean to him or embarrassing him.  He, my friends, is the enemy.  Yet, I wasn’t really as proud of myself like I’d always imagined I would be in a situation like this.

He stopped walking and stood with his back to us for several long, intimidating seconds.  From the way the muscles in his back quivered, I believe he was trying to control his temper.  Oh, well.  I wasn’t really worried.  It isn’t like Mister Boy Scout would ever hit a girl, right?  I felt myself start to fidget when he just stood there.  We had also caught the attention of several of the patrons that were seated around us.  In fact, I believe we were making quite the spectacle of ourselves.

“Just go, Grayson.  Don’t do it,” Gabe pleaded.  He glared at me in disgust.  “You don’t have anything to prove, especially to her.”

Finally, Grayson slowly turned around and looked me dead in the face…hard.  This time, I definitely started fidgeting in my seat.  His intense stare was breathtaking with his bright blue eyes and girly lashes.  God, did I mention how hot he was?  “What did you say to me?” he asked quietly.  When he’d been on stage singing, his voice had sounded like hot whiskey – now he sounded cold and furious.  Well, he could just get over himself.  I didn’t like him.  I wasn’t trying to be his friend or suck up to him to get him to star in their movie.  I, my dear friends, didn’t give a flying fuck what he thought about me.

“She called you a pussy, dude.”  Gabe answered loudly when I failed to answer promptly enough to suit him.  Of course, when Gabe said it, everyone within a ten mile radius heard him.  I was seriously getting tired of dear ole Gabe, really fast.

Grayson’s jaw ticked and his mouth formed a frown that didn’t do a damned thing to make him unattractive.  I guess this is why our families had always worked so hard to keep us apart from each other.  He was hot enough that I wouldn’t be able to keep my hands to myself and I was bitchy enough that my very touch would soil his pure skin.

“Yep, I called you a pussy, Grayson.  Got a problem with that?”  I sounded a lot tougher on the outside than I was feeling on the inside.  It actually bothered me to be mean to him and I had no clue why.

“Yea, I guess I do,” he answered with a lazy shrug of his perfectly shaped shoulders—you know, not too much muscle but just enough to make a girl swoon?  “Actually, I have a problem with how you’ve treated me all night long,” he explained as he closed the distance between us with a determined stride.  Once he was close enough, he grabbed his vacated chair, swirled it around, slammed it right up against my knee, and straddled it.  When we were practically eye to eye, he continued, “I’m pretty sure I’ve never done anything to offend you personally, but you still act like a bitch.  Why is that, Vic?  Are you afraid of me?”  His voice was low enough that I was the only one that could hear him unless people rudely moved in closer.  I knew they wanted to, but they didn’t.  Actually, Memphis wouldn’t let them.  It was a good thing Memphis could multi task because she was having to keep other patrons away from us and keep Gabe in line at the same time.  Gabe was even more furious than Grayson was and that made about as much sense as the way I felt with Grayson being so close to me.

“Afraid of you?  Mister Boy Scout?  I seriously doubt that,” I answered smugly.  “I just don’t like you.”

“You don’t know me.”

Well, he had me there, but I didn’t intend to back down.  “I don’t have to know you to not like you.  Don’t let it hurt your feelings, sweetie.  Are you going to cry like your mommy did?”

Yea, I went there.  The minute I did, I wished I hadn’t.  Too late.  I watched many emotions cross through those blue eyes—hurt, anger, surprise, lust…

He tilted his head to the side and studied me like I was some kind of sideshow freak.  I could tell he was pondering something. Maybe punching me in the face and seeing if he could make me cry?  Right when I  was about to cave and apologize, he leaned in and whispered in my ear, “You want to make me scream, don’t you, Vic?  You want to hurt me?”  I could feel his hot breath tickling my neck and sending waves of desire rushing through me.  Actually, those waves had started the minute he had gotten close to me. It was his hot breath or the way his tongue almost touched my ear when he spoke.  “You wanna do it on stage?  How brave are you?”

READ AN EXCERPT

“Are you hungry?” He asked because her belly growled loudly enough to attract pirates on the mainland.

“A little.” She licked her lips. “But I’m really thirsty.”

He pulled out the straw of his CamelBak and leaned forward, holding it to her lips. He should have shuttled off all his gear and just handed the damn thing to her because when she leaned in close and he got a whiff of her, he nearly passed out. You would think a woman who had been held prisoner by filthy pirates for nearly a week would smell bad. She did not. She smelled like heaven. There was a light musky odor of sweat—it was hot in the tropics—but it twined with something that was essentially female.

He’d never felt such hunger. It screamed through his soul.

And, on top of that, their faces were close. And she was sucking on the nozzle. And fuck. He was a warrior. A trained weapon. On a mission.

This was no time for a hard on.

But he was hard. Damn hard.

Her lashes flickered as she glanced up at him; she moaned as she swallowed. A shiver walked down his spine. Walked right down his spine and coiled in his balls.

When she sat back with a sigh, he put the nozzle to his lips as well. Not because he was particularly thirsty, but because he wanted a taste of her mouth, while it was still fresh.

What he really wanted was to kiss her. But she was the senator’s daughter and he was a grunt. That wasn’t going to happen. It couldn’t.

“Did…did you say something about food?” Damn lashes. Fluttering again. He had the urge to grab his Gerber and snip them off.

He pulled an MRE from a pocket on his left leg, read the label, and grimaced. He hated the meatloaf. He should have paid more attention when he prepped his gear. He had more in his pack, but this would do for now. “I have this.”

Her nose wrinkled as she studied the silver foil.

Yeah. Wait ’til she got a taste. He ripped open the packet, broke off a piece, and handed it to her. It was messy, because of the gravy, but he didn’t want to unload everything to find an implement. They needed to eat and go.

She took a bite. Her eyes widened. “Yuuum,” she said in an unconvincing tone.

It was all he could do to hold back his laugh.

“What…” She swallowed heavily. “What is this?”

“An MRE.”

“What does that stand for?”

His lips quirked. “Meals Rarely Edible.”

Her brow wrinkled, and then she laughed.

And ah, what a laugh. A melodic trill. Some kind of sound he figured you might hear in heaven.

“Do you eat these often?”

“Not if I can help it.” He shoved a chunk in his mouth and fired it back. “But we have a long way to go today, and these have a lot of calories.”

She froze, a niblette of mystery meat halfway to her mouth. “How-how many calories?”

“About twelve hundred a meal.”

She gaped at him. “Twelve hundred?” She glared at the meatloaf as though it were made of turds. Then again, it might have been. “And you gave it to me? To eat?”

“Yeah. You’ll need it.”

“Why didn’t you warn me?” She smacked him. It was like being batted by a kitten. “Twelve hundred calories is my whole day!”

He grinned. He could burn that much with a good fart. “Perfect. It’s probably all you’ll get. Eat up.”

“For twelve hundred calories, I could have eaten a cheesecake.”

He looked around for the cheesecake.

She shoved her tiny chunk of meatloaf at him. “Here, you eat it.”

He pushed it back. “You eat it. We have a lot of ground to cover today.”

“We do?” She tipped her head to the side. “Where are we going?”

“There’s an island to the south.” He grabbed a stick and sketched out a quick map. “We’re here. At the north end of this island. And the secondary extraction point is here.”

Her throat worked. “How will we get to the other island?”

“Swim.”

She paled. “I-I can’t swim.”

It was probably rude to stare. But really? She couldn’t swim? Who couldn’t swim? “You never wanted to learn?”

“Oh, I wanted to.” She sighed. “My mother was afraid I would drown.”

“Not drowning is kind of the point of swimming.”

“She wanted to keep me safe.” He didn’t miss the exasperation in her tone. “I didn’t get to do a lot of things. Which is probably why— And wouldn’t you know it? The first time?” She gazed at him as though she’d finished a sentence. As though he’d understood a bit of what she’d said.

“Well, don’t worry. We’ll get you home safe. And then everything will be just the way it was before.”

Her sudden frown mystified him.

Micha’s expressions were so flirtatious and seductive, Cooper’s knees weakened for a moment, but he was able to gather his wits in spite of his raging libido causing him to go all moony eyed. He held out his hand. “I didn’t get a chance to introduce myself earlier. Cooper Hanes.”

“Micha Levi. Sorry I didn’t stick around to talk, but Doctor Lee and I don’t quite see eye to eye on certain issues, and we find it’s much easier to stay out of each other’s way.”

When the doctor shook his hand, a pinch of electricity bit into Cooper’s palm. The sexual magnetism he felt between them intensified. “No problem. Totally understand.”

“So, Cooper, are you new at the hospital?” Micha returned the dumbbells he’d been using to the rack. “How long have you known Doctor Lee?”

“I’m just there to consult on a couple of cases, help out the athletes who got a bit busted up and need some extra special TLC. Doctor Lee was one of my instructors in college so we go way back.” When he caught Micha wrinkling his nose, he added, “Professionally speaking, that is. I’ve only known him in the educational and work environments. For the most part I work out of the offices of Triumph Physical Therapy. I usually work out at the gym near there or the one near my apartment, but I didn’t feel like driving and losing my motivation along the way.” God, Cooper, stop babbling. He hated being nervous around other men. He needed to get the doctor talking. One, to shut himself up. Two, so he could listen to the slight accent the man had. “What about you? Been at the hospital long? Do you have a special focus in Orthopedics?”

“I do everything, but my interest really lies in adult spinal disorders and surgery of the spine. It’s delicate and intense work, but to see someone go from constant pain to minimal or no pain and have their quality of life improve is rewarding.”

“I get that. It’s wonderful to see the positive change in a person’s life when they heal.” A woman walked by and snagged the spot near the dumbbells, but a bench became available. “I want to do some presses. Willing to spot me?”

“Sure. Lead the way.”

Micha stood at the head of the bench and placed his hands out toward the bar but didn’t touch it. Cooper grasped the metal pole with fifty pounds worth of weight on either end and lifted it up and over the supports. As he executed a set of reps, he stared at the bulge in the front of Micha’s gym shorts.

The doctor’s cock… So close yet still so far away.

With a small sigh disguised in an exhale of exertion, he wondered how he would approach the subject of his and Micha’s sexual preferences, then mentally kicked himself. It wasn’t like this was his first go-round in the dating game. He had no idea why he was acting like a total noob.

Did the bulge in Micha’s shorts just get bigger?

Micha cleared his throat.

Cooper replaced the bar into the support section and gazed up at the man who was leaning forward and staring down at him.

“Mr. Hanes.” His mouth twisted upwards, not in a true smile but one he probably reserved for difficult patients in which he could silently say, I’m trying to be nice but you’re being irritating. Yet, there was an erotic naughtiness to the dark grin and shadow cast over his eyes. “Are you gay?” Micha’s low voice rolled with a beautiful Arabic tone.

He swallowed hard and made sure to meet Micha’s gaze full on. “Yes. You?”

“Yes.”

A sudden sense of calm and ease filled Cooper, replacing the anxiety and filling him with a burst of confidence. Emboldened, he decided to be direct and very honest, feeling if he were to have a relationship with a doctor, this would be the best tactic to use. “Good. When we’re done here, I want to take you out for a drink and make out with you.”

For an instant, Micha’s gaze sharpened, seemed to ignite with passionate heat. “Why wait?”

How A Tempest of Passion Was Born by Elizabeth M. VaLey (@ElyzabethVaLey)

A Tempest of PassionHi everyone! I’m thrilled to be here today with my recent release, A Tempest of Passion.

Back in 2013 an idea formed in my mind. Now, to be honest with you, I don’t quite remember how it happened. It could have been my Muse whispering in my ear, a picture I saw or a song I heard… I’m not sure. What I do remember is that two elements stuck out in this idea: a wolf shifter named William and the time period, the regency era.

With those two items, I set my fingers on the keyboard and wrote 50.000 words, successfully completing Nanowrimo 2013. Soon after, in an email I sent to a friend, I told her: The story needs a lot, I repeat, a lot of editing. I’ve written like a maniac but I’m very aware that some of the things on there don’t make too much sense. It needs to be fixed.”

It wasn’t a pretty sight. A few months later, I went into full editing mode, but alas, I was not happy with the result. There was something wrong with William and Emily’s story, which back then was titled Cry of the Lone Wolf.

I set the novel aside, upset that I could not figure out what was the problem. I spent several months working in other projects, trying to forget a shifter exiled from his pack and a woman that wanted nothing to with marriage. They were impossible to forget. I would see regency era pictures, pictures of women and wolves, men that resembled William, women that reminded me of Emily… and they would come to mind, begging me to finish their story, to make things right.

Finally, a few months ago, inspiration struck. Chapters were rewritten and erased, names were changed, new characters were introduced… and a story that started like a little summer drizzle became a full blown Tempest of Passion.

I hope you enjoy it!

Excerpt:

“Perhaps you can enlighten me. You’re an accomplished dancer as far as I can see and you seem to enjoy it, even if you did tell me you didn’t particularly like it. Why don’t the other men ask you to dance? Must I be on the lookout lest you do something outrageous?”

They reunited on the floor. Emily extended her right foot forward allowing her weight to rest on it before closing her other foot and hopping. She bit back a smile.

“I think most men in town surrendered in their pursuit for me to dance,” she admitted after a moment. “I refused all of them for what I spoke was the truth. I am not fond of dancing.”

“Yet, you’re not chewing on your lips or pulling them in as you have a habit of doing when carrying out unpleasant duties.” William chuckled.  “Just like that. Why always so serious, Ms. Bunsbury? Is my company such a heavy weight on your shoulders that you cannot gift me with a smile?”

“Life is serious business, Mr. Dalton,” she replied, going around him in a circle. “There is nothing more odious than being forced to smile.”

“Of course, I know it well.” His friendly smile vanished, his eyes losing their luster.

“I did not mean to upset you,” Emily hurried to clarify, suddenly desperate to see the gay light present in his eyes again.

William’s lips curled upwards, though the gesture did not reach his eyes.

“It was not your fault, Ms. Bunsbury. You inadvertently awoke some sad memories. Life is serious business,” he conceded, twirling her, “but that is precisely why we must enjoy the precious good moments such as these, for we never know how long they will last.”

“Your opinion of good moments is definitely low if you count this to be one.”

She was teasing him. By God, she was teasing him and though it took him a moment to realize it, she was glad at the sound of his rich laughter. Her lips twitched and she found herself smiling in response to his boisterous mirth.

“Of course I do,” he said after a few seconds. “I am dancing with a beautiful woman on a fine autumn day. It cannot get much better than that?” He winked, reminding her of his ulterior masculine motives and causing her cheerfulness to vanish. “Though you probably think differently,” William added.

“Indeed.”

The melody having come to an end, Emily curtsied and turned to walk away from William Dalton. She’d barely removed herself from the center of the room, when he gripped her elbow. Emily bit back a gasp. Every time he touched her something inside her awoke with a hunger that could not be appeased. Tilting her head back so she could look him in the eyes, she chose to ignore the way her heart leapt.

“That was only one dance, Ms. Bunsbury. You promised me two.”

“Surely, you wouldn’t want to waste your good moments dancing another tune with me, Mr. Dalton.” She made to leave but his fingers on her arm tightened. Anger flared in his eyes and his good-natured smile vanished.

“You think little of yourself, Ms. Bunsbury. I am surprised.”

“You are in the wrong, Sir,” she said as politely as she could muster. “I simply believe that another woman would enjoy your attentions much more than myself.”

Pulling her arm from his grasp, she veered around, desperate for some fresh air. Faster than she could muster, he stepped in front of her, blocking her path. Curling her hands into fists, she fought against the urge to shove him out of the way.

“Mr. Dalton—!”

“Ms. Bunsbury.”

Emily’s eyes flew to his face at the warning in his tone, her wroth vanishing and scattering into the wind as their gazes clashed.

“I don’t take kindly to broken promises,” he whispered gruffly.

Her breath caught as he reached for her hand, his fingertips sliding sensually over her gloved wrist. Her pulse raced, urging her to move or succumb to the persistent throbbing between her legs.

“You may think yourself fast as a rabbit or cunning like a fox, Ms. Bunsbury, but I am a hunter and catching prey is my favorite sport.”

Blurb:

Emily Bunsbury is most definitely not a fainter. She prefers to leave that sort of shenanigans to young debutants and to those desperate to land a husband. She is neither.

Except last night she passed out and was rescued by none other than the town’s most eligible bachelor: William Dalton.  Of course, she wants nothing to do with him, but her heart and body don’t seem to be in agreement…

Banished from his pack for a crime he did not commit, William Dalton does not have the desire or the time to court women, yet, when he meets Emily Bunsbury he is incapable of staying away. Certain that it is nothing more than a passing fancy and not the mating pull, he pursues her.

However, as the unknown threat that expelled him from his pack strikes again, William realizes that Emily means much more and he must keep her safe. Now, if only she’d agree to his terms…

As danger grows with each passing day, will the couple learn to trust each other or will their love be nothing more than a temporary tempest of passion?
