New Release: Letters to a War Zone (M/M Military Romance)

Hi everyone,

I’m very excited to announce the release of my M/M military erotic romance short story, Letters to a War Zone, released today from Totally Bound! It’s my first book with them (the Stand to Attention anthology they released last month also includes this story, so if you already have that, you don’t need to buy the standalone version) and I’m absolutely delighted with the cover. It’s gorgeous, isn’t it?

Letters to a War ZoneHere’s the skinny on the book:

When lonely insurance broker, Bailey, gets himself a new hobby, he ends up exchanging letters with a war zone. But he’s not expecting what happens next

Bailey Hodgkiss is lonely and dissatisfied with his boring life as an insurance broker. In an attempt to insert some variety, he signs up to a website to write to serving soldiers. He’s put in touch with Corporal Nick Rock, and over the course of a couple of letters, the two of them strike up a friendship. They begin to divulge their secrets, including their preference for men.

Nick encourages Bailey to add more interests to his life. As a result, Bailey picks up his forgotten hobby, photography, and quickly decides to team it up with his other preferred interest, travel.

Booking a holiday to Rome is his biggest gesture towards a more exciting existence, and he eagerly looks forward to the trip. That is, until Nick says he’s coming home on leave, and it looks as though their respective trips will prevent them from meeting in person. Is there enough of a spark between them to push them to meet, or will their relationship remain on paper only?

Seriously Shifter

Hello and welcome to the Seriously Shifter Giveaway Hop! I was delighted to find this hop because, well, who doesn’t love a shifter? They’re very hot right now which I totally understand. I love reading ’em and writing ’em. Here’s a snippet from my most recent shifter story, Out in the Cold, which appears in Evernight Publishing’s Alpha’s Claim: Manlove Edition anthology, which hit both the Amazon and All Romance eBooks bestseller lists – woohoo!

Alpha's Claim: Manlove EditionCompleting his stretches, Kane Wimborne grabbed his keys and left the house, locking the door behind him and pocketing the keys. Jogging down the driveway of his large mansion, he paused at a keypad to punch in the code that would open the gates and allow him off the property.

He’d barely gotten through the gates when he saw something that made him stop dead. A human-shaped bundle was lying next to the wall on his left. Instinctively, his hand went to his pocket to check if his phone was there. Yes, he could phone for help if it was needed.

Cautiously, he approached the shape, with many possibilities running through his head. It could be a homeless person or a drunk who had simply been looking for a sheltered place to sleep. It could be someone who was injured. Or he could be about to step onto a crime scene. Conscious of this last point, he called out before getting any closer—he didn’t want to inadvertently mar any evidence, should that last be correct.

“Hey. You all right?” He felt stupid saying the words, because someone lying next to a wall first thing in the morning couldn’t be classified as all right, for whatever reason they were there.

As there was no response, he edged a little closer and was about to shout again when a weird sensation overtook him. A sensation that he hadn’t felt in a very long time—the one that told him another shifter was nearby.

He’d already been on edge, but now he hurriedly looked around him, confident that even in the dull morning light his superior vision would immediately highlight anything out of place. There was nothing. Except for the fellow shifter who was on the ground in front of him, obviously.

It was clear the wall-hugger was a shifter, given that all of Kane’s senses told him there was no one else around. There rarely was at 5:30 in the morning. Now Kane realized what a good thing this was—he didn’t want any witnesses, just in case any random shifting took place. It was entirely possible—it was a natural response to threats, especially if one was injured.

And if he or she wasn’t injured, why in the hell were they here?

No longer bothered about contaminating a crime scene—he wouldn’t be calling the authorities on another of his kind, whoever they were—Kane crouched down beside the prone figure and searched for its neck, then its pulse. He found both, which was a relief, and at the same time he’d ascertained that the “it” was in fact a man. The stubble on the neck and jaw gave it away. It was either that or a bearded lady had absconded from the local circus.

After calling out a couple more times, Kane decided that the softly-softly approach was clearly not going to work. Checking that the two of them were still alone—what he was about to do could easily stir the guy into changing—he grabbed the man’s shoulders and shook him, hard, then slapped his face for good measure.

It took a few seconds, but finally, the man came round. Groaning, his hand came up to his face, where Kane had hit him. Then his other hand moved to the other side. As the guy attempted to sit up, Kane reached out to help him, then gasped.

He should not have slapped his face. All he’d done was add additional pain to an already affected area. A badly abused area, in fact. The other shifter looked like he’d taken a serious beating, or fallen from the top of a very tall tree.

“Christ,” Kane said, still supporting the man’s back, so he didn’t flop back down onto the pavement. “What the hell happened to you?”

Coming Soon, and Not So Soon!

Hi everyone,

I’m just dropping by with a couple of updates on some upcoming titles.

I had a m/m story accepted for House of Erotica‘s upcoming Boys Will Be Boys anthology, which should be out by the end of the month. I posted my contract to them this morning. My story is called Trespassing. I don’t know yet who else is in the anthology, but my story blurb is below, as well as the totally divine cover!

Boys Will Be BoysJack Hiddleston is walking in the woodlands of his father’s estate when he comes across a trespasser. He quickly realises there’s no malice in the other man’s actions, but as he gets to know Ben Kiddell, Jack realises that, far from kicking Ben off the Hiddleston estate, he never wants him to leave.

The thing that is coming not-so-soon is my f/f novella, Sweet Spot. It’s part of two series – mine and Lily Harlem‘s sports romance series, Raw Talent, and also Ellora’s Cave’s Hot Pink, which is a collection of f/f stories. Part of the novella runs parallel with the timeline from Grand Slam, so there is some crossover, but both books stand alone, as will any others in the series. This is a solo novella, just written by me, but don’t worry, Lily and I will still be writing sports romance books together, but we’ll probably also write some alone, too. The scope for Raw Talent is pretty huge, so we won’t be running out of ideas any time soon 😉

I haven’t yet had a cover, I’m still waiting patiently (not) for that. But just to give you a taste of what’s to come, the (unapproved) blurb is below. Sweet Spot will release on the 18th June.

Virginia Miller is an up-and-coming tennis star. She’s gone from a ratty tennis court in a park in south London, England, to the world’s top training facility – Los Carlos Tennis Academy in California. In awe of the talent around her—Travis Connolly, Rufus Lampani and Nadia Gorlando, Virginia is all the more determined to make the most of the opportunity and show that she’s worthy of her place there. Her mentor, Nadia Gorlando, has every faith in her. But Virginia finds herself distracted—Nadia, as well as being a top notch tennis player, is seriously sexy, and Virginia’s mind keeps wandering where it shouldn’t. Will her crush get in the way of her career, or can she find a way to push the other woman out of her mind before it’s too late?

I hope you’ll check out these books as and when they become available. 🙂

Happy Reading!

Hammer was one of the men Lane saved
and his lover while they were in the army together. He let Lane drive him away back when the man first got hurt, but now he’s hunting Lane, determined to make Lane the one who almost got away. Will Lane be able to see past his legs far enough to realise Hammer’s in it for the long haul?

So naturally when he returns to me, our emotions can’t fail to run hot and our lust for each other cranks up to sky-high levels. But the one thing about Jack is he lives for the extreme and seizes the moment. I really should have known what would come of me telling him my wildest fantasies.

Oh, yes, he’s a guy who gets results
and when he brings home his colleague Slider, equally tough, equally rough, the pair of them can’t fail to hit the target. That target happens to be lucky old me and I head off on the ride of my life

Reader Advisory: This book contains D/s elements and a MMM ménage.

‘An Act of Duty’ by Elizabeth Coldwell

When duty becomes mixed up with desire, can a battle-scarred soldier leave behind the horrors of war and enter a world of fantasy and fulfilment?

For Corporal Mark Stockdale, a trip to Amsterdam won’t just provide some much-needed R and R away from the horrors of the Afghanistan battlefield — it’s also a way of keeping a promise to a fallen comrade. But violence has a way of seeking Mark out, even in the most peaceful of locations, and when he stops for a drink in a quiet bar, he finds himself stepping in to help its owner, Robin Sneijder, fight off a group of opportunist thieves. Robin shows his gratitude, and Mark is stunned by the depth of the passion between them, and when Mark wakes in the night from a vivid nightmare of the attack that killed his best friend, Ozzy, Robin is there to comfort him.

Robin seems like the perfect partner, and what started as an act of duty turns into an unforgettably erotic encounter. But when Robin confesses he has an overwhelming urge to submit to a hunk in army uniform, Mark is not sure whether he can put aside the realities of war and fulfil his new lover’s most cherished desires. Can he separate fact and fantasy, and give Robin the domination he craves?

Reader Advisory: This book contains graphic descriptions of a roadside explosion, and acts of domination and submission between men.

‘Trusting the Army Captain’ by Noelle Keaton

When it comes to choosing between advancing his career in the army or being truthful with the man he loves, Patrick learns everything ultimately boils down to trust.

Ambitious army captain, Patrick Bosworth, is eager to advance in his career so that he can live up to his family’s distinguished legacy. But having been passed over for promotion to major twice already, Patrick fears his career has stalled. He worries he’ll never match the accomplishments of other family members, especially his brother, a Bronze Star recipient recently promoted to lieutenant colonel.

When a superior office suggests a way to get the promotion that involves gathering information on a fellow army captain in the Medical Corps, Patrick reluctantly agrees to participate. He regrets the assignment almost immediately, especially when he falls for Craig, the guy he’s supposed to be investigating.

When he forms a passionate and intense bond with Craig, Patrick finds it difficult to separate where his professional obligations end and his personal feelings begin. After working for so long to prove himself a worthy member of his accomplished military family, Patrick has to decide if finally finding the love of his life is worth sacrificing advancement in the army, or even giving up his career itself.

Eileen Griffin’s Inspiration for Claiming Ayden

Thanks for hosting me on your blog today 🙂

I’ve been asked what my inspiration was when I was writing “Claiming Ayden”. I have a weakness for Alpha males and absolutely love the wolf sub-culture. They’re fascinating animals that are extremely territorial about their packs, travel vast distances to find food and shelter to ensure the health of their packs, but are also one of the few animals that mate for life. When I was developing my story and characters, I kept envisioning the scene from Last of the Mohicans when Hawkeye (played by Daniel Day-Lewis) was racing to rescue his love, Cora. The intensity with which he traverses the distance and landscape to save her has stuck with me all these years – for me, it was a pivotal scene in the movie. It made me wonder how a wolf/human shifter would react to his beloved, in this case Ayden, was captured by his Alpha’s enemy. The story basically wrote itself from there. It was such an awesome and novel experience to create a world and story for them, that I hope to one day continue Ayden and Thane’s story in future novellas 🙂

“Claiming Ayden” by Eileen Griffin

Genre: Erotic Romance, M/M, Paranormal, Shifter

Length: Anthology Length Short Story

Release Date: January 24, 2014

Publisher: Evernight Publishing

Anthology Title: Alpha’s Claim: Manlove Edition

Strength. Power. Domination.

The shifters in our Alpha’s Claim: Manlove Edition anthology have one thing in common—they won’t take “no” for an answer. Whether they lead packs of their own, or whether they walk a solitary path, these alphas won’t let anyone stop them from claiming their men.

Lose yourself in these ten sinfully delicious love stories. After all, who could deny an Alpha’s claim?

Blurb:

Thane, Alpha of his pack of shifter wolves, is running out of time. Drake, Alpha of a rival pack and Thane’s enemy, has stolen into Thane’s camp to capture three of his youngest members, including his intended mate Ayden.

Drake needs numbers to increase the size of his pack and he does not care how he accomplishes that feat. Will Drake succeed and not only increase the number of his pack but eliminate Thane as a rival Alpha and enemy to his pack? Or will Thane’s need for his mate and desire to have him at any cost be the tipping point that will help him overthrow Drake and claim Ayden once and for all?

Excerpt from “Claiming Ayden”

Thane looked down at Ayden’s white blond hair and felt his chest tighten. He lifted his hand and settled it in the pup’s hair. He had to hold back a moan when he felt a tremor go through the pup’s body the moment his fingers brushed along Ayden’s scalp. Thane tightened his fingers in Ayden’s hair and pulled the younger man’s face to his. Crystal blue eyes stared back at him. Nowhere in them was there any fear or pain. Instead, Thane saw the same expression of surety and desire Ayden had worn when he’d wandered into their camp almost two and a half years ago.

“Thank you for the food, pup. But that’s not the sustenance I need tonight.”

The tremor Thane had felt turned into a shudder as Ayden placed the food and water on the ground. Then in a show of true submission he gently leaned his head into the grasp Thane had on his hair, leaving his neck exposed.

Thane’s cock filled with blood and hardened against his body. His eyes roamed over the battered body of his true mate to check for damage that would prevent him from taking the action he should have completed before they had begun their journey to the winter lands. Roane approached Thane’s side and slid the leather thong from his neck, pressing it into his leader’s free hand before backing away.
