Lily G Blunt Talks Taboo Stories

11953153_536139079867709_8171992208798765693_nMany thanks for offering to host me on your blog, Lucy.

Today I’d like to focus on taboo stories and their publication.

My current WIP is a taboo story. You may well ask what made me decide to write this tale and what inspired my initial idea.

I enjoy reading taboo stories—mostly those involving brotherly love and twincest—and thought I’d like to have an attempt at writing one myself as there aren’t many available. I also wanted to write across several genres and was considering contemporary, romance, historical and paranormal when I started to formulate an idea.

Thinking of a setting for a ghost story, I recalled an old building I was familiar with, along with its history. Picturing this imposing house in its grounds and the nearby church helped when planning the outline of my novella. I adapted the building’s background to fit my story, changing the names of the owners and a few structural details. But because I had a particular place in mind, I could visualize it, along with my characters interacting within this imaginary world.

The story is set in modern times and focuses on two brothers whose relationship is unclear at the start, but as the chapters unfold it is obvious they have been sexual partners at some point. The ghost/paranormal plot involves two brothers who’d also been involved in an incestuous relationship.

My original plan was to make the story more acceptable to a wider readership by having the contemporary brothers discover they are not blood related after all and for the elder one to have been adopted as a baby. However, this all sounded contrived when I came to write it and went against my idea of writing a taboo story—even though that aspect would still have been covered by the ‘ghost’ plot. In the end, I altered my plan so they remained blood brothers, who, by the end of the story, are together as lovers and are accepted as such by most of their family and friends.

I frequently proclaim ‘Love is Love’ on my Facebook pages and other social media profiles and that is the main theme of this story. The story is titled Let Your Heart Decide and that’s what my characters do. They choose each other because it feels right for them. My story is about love and romance. Yes, it contains some explicit sex scenes between the two brothers, but no more than any of my other stories. Hopefully, I’ve portrayed the true nature of their feelings and readers will sympathize with their situation, whether they personally disagree with incest or not.

I’m not going to focus on incest and whether it is immoral or wrong or whatever. That’s not why I’m writing this post. I want to air my views on publishing taboo stories because it’s not easy to do.

Many publishers declare in their submission requirements ‘No incest’, so I’ve decided to self-publish my novel—yes, it went from novella in my outline plan to novel by the time I’d written the story.

Knowing Amazon’s guidelines on what they accept is rather vague and they themselves are inconsistent in implementing their policies, I am considering PayHip, Smashwords and other means to make this story available. I will attempt to upload it to Amazon because that’s where most ebooks are sold and because there are taboo and incest stories available there despite many being banned. I’m researching the best means to tag the book and how to present the blurb so the story is accepted. (Any advice here will be received gratefully.) I’m sure some narrow-minded bigots will object and report it whatever I do, even if they have no intention of reading the book themselves.

I don’t intend to take on Amazon and their dubious policies. I wouldn’t stand a chance against them. It’s their site and they make the rules, but I would question their inconsistent and double standards. As I’ve said, many taboo stories remain for sale, even those with that given title.

So what’s the problem? Why ban some taboo and incest books and not others?

All these stories are fiction. Incest is illegal for opposite sex relations in many countries. But then so is murder, rape, abuse and violence against another, kidnapping etc., yet there are numerous stories with those abhorrent themes available for sale on Amazon, along with books containing explicit sex, and many sex toys and other ‘kinky’ items. People read about murderers and rapists and kidnappers despite it being offensive, but it doesn’t mean they condone these acts. Fiction can be a means of escape, a way to explore a world you wouldn’t normally partake in.

So what’s the real issue here?

Why can’t Amazon allow people to make up their own minds? The customer, as with the purchase of any item, has the choice whether to search for and view it. When purchasing a book, you get the blurb, reviews, and a chance to read a sample of the text so you can determine if it’s suitable for you. No one is there forcing you to press the ‘1-Click’ button. And even if there are books for sale on the site you don’t want to see, it’s quite simple to move on. No one is demanding you look or buy. Please know there are many readers out there who would like to have that particular option open to them. It is a rapidly expanding readership and I’m looking forward to the time when Amazon and other publishing sites realize this.

EXCERPT:

Vinnie led me across the room, pulling me by the shirt. “Lie back on the sofa for me and I’ll paint you.”

As if in a dream, I settled my head against one arm of the sofa, my legs dangling over the other end, scarcely breathing now. Vinnie knelt on the floor beside me with an open pot of paint in his hand.

Teasingly, he dipped his index finger into the dark blue paint as if it were cream he would lick off. His finger connected with my skin and he made short strokes across my chest, the coldness of the paint making me shiver.

Mesmerised by the closeness of his beautiful face, the view of the night sky through the window, and the picture forming upon my chest, I watched as dab after dab and stroke after stroke he built up a mix of shades, until a dark night sky with the moon and stars were there to be seen—a masterpiece, drying on the warmth of my blazing skin, a transient thing of beauty. His fingers skimmed my skin causing gooseflesh to ripple in waves down my arms and thighs. My nipples pebbled in response to his touch.

And when he was done, his lips met mine in a languid kiss; how our first kiss should have been—sweet, innocent, and full of promise. He pulled away, smiling down at me.

This was the beginning of something special.

BLURB:

A love of art…

A mutual interest in art draws two shy university students together. Ben admires Vinnie’s painting of the university building, so Vinnie invites him to an exhibition of his artwork. From a wealthy family, Ben purchases some of Vinnie’s art and arranges for the artist to personally hang the paintings in his apartment.

Starry, starry night…

Ben commissions Vinnie to paint his portrait, in order to spend more time with the artist. On the night of the sitting, Vinnie fingerpaints the starry night on Ben’s chest… and they kiss. They begin a relationship beneath the night sky, God’s own canvas.

But every relationship has its ups and downs and so it is with theirs. When Ben thinks Vinnie spends too much time with a fellow artist, his jealousy drives a wedge between them and forces Vinnie into the very thing Ben dreads.

Hold tight to your dreams…

Ben and Vinnie will have to walk through fire before they can find one another again. But if they believe, and if they keep their faith in the night sky and each other, just maybe they can make their dreams of love come true.

ABOUT THE AUTHOR

Lily G. Blunt writes contemporary gay erotic romance. She loves to explore the relationship between two men and the intensity of their physical and emotional attraction. Angst often features in her stories as she feels this demonstrates the depth of the men’s feelings for each other. Lily discovered the wonderful world of m/m romance novels five years ago via fan fiction and went on to write stories in her spare time. With the encouragement of her friends and readers she decided to publish some of her work. Lily subsequently self-published several stories via Amazon. She later published short stories with Torquere Press and Wayward Ink Publishing. Lily is excited about joining Pride Publishing for her upcoming story, The Handyman Can.

Lily is an avid supporter of GLBTQ rights and advocates equality for all. She was recently a steward for Pride in London. She lives in central England with her rather bemused husband and a ‘mad as a bag of frogs’ Shetland Sheepdog called Barney.

Excerpt:

Kayla had seamlessly taken control of the sound system a few minutes ago and the stuff she had been playing was good, better than the typical pre-recorded shit. But what caught his attention now was the sound of her voice. She was singing into the mic on her headset. Not lyrics but a beautiful stream of notes that seemed to flutter from her gut up to her vocal cords in a lilting sound that was captivating.

The notes she sang rose and fell, exotic and mysterious with the intriguing underlying beat. Her voice called, it drew…and soon women rose from their seats to the small dance area to move and sway with the music, and the men followed them. The same people who had been oblivious of the music a moment before as they’d smoked and talked were now giving their full attention to Kayla.

It wasn’t just the music that mesmerized them; it was Kayla herself. She was a vision. Her blonde hair gleamed under the lights, and her shoulders and hips writhed in a sexy dance, and all the while she continued to turn knobs and flip switches to make the music she sang to. She was absorbed in it and having a great time. Sometimes her hair flicked when she gyrated, as if in punctuation to her movements. Combined with the sound of her voice, she was like a beacon—the song of an angel caressing and drawing everyone in. It was like nothing he’d ever heard before.

Hola!” said a man in an aggressive tone, waving a one hundred Euro bill. “Can we get ten shots of Patrón?”

“Of course. Right away, friend.” Lex focused back in on his job.

It was awhile before he could come back up for air. But when he did, he noticed that the space was packed with bodies dancing to the music Kayla played. And, although she was keeping it mellow as instructed, it was the biggest crowd he’d ever seen on the terrace during the day. Security continuously went through, trying to keep key paths clear.

Hands holding cell phones were up in the air, outstretched toward her, as they took pictures and videos. Through it all, she wore the brightest smile he’d ever seen, occasionally lifting one hand to press the earphones closer. She changed the tempo to a faster beat and the crowd responded with cheers. She bounced up and down in joy, hand waving above her head with exhilaration, and the people lifted and pumped their fists in mimicry.

She was every bit as good as any DJ they’d had before and more. She was the embodiment of everything he thought he would have experienced and felt had it been him on the stage. Somehow, she caught him watching, and gave him a cheery wave. Embarrassed, he waved awkwardly back, and then pulled his eyes back down to the bar. And, even though he could acknowledge that Rick had been right, that she was good, he couldn’t help feeling the tiny nugget of palpable distaste lodged deep in his chest.

Let’s Ride by Rebecca Black (@Northerngirl76)

Hello!

Thanks for having me today so I can give my new book Let’s Ride a shout out.

I don’t know about you, but sometimes I really love a good, quick read. Busy lives often don’t leave as much time as we’d like for reading, do they? I’m not always so bothered about the backstory, I just want to live vicariously for a moment through the characters as they experience that first rush of lust and desire in a new relationship – I want to get a little hot and tingly 😉

Well Evernight’s Romance on the Go range is all about fulfilling this reading need and my new release Let’s Ride is a part of that.

LetsRide-evernightpublishing-JayAheer2015-finalimage

Let’s Ride started life as an erotic short that I wrote for Masturbation Monday (a meme that I write for most weeks). I saw a black and white photograph of this gorgeous, androgynous woman sat on a kick ass motorbike in just a pair of knickers and this piece of flash fiction just fired out of me. Talk about inspiration!

She looked like she wouldn’t take any crap and she looked very capable of sweeping someone off their feet. It got a lot of great feedback so I decided to extend it and lucky for me, Evernight liked it too.

I’ve read some great books with well written dominant male characters, both straight and gay, but I really wanted to write a recognisable archetype with a twist. There isn’t one good reason on this earth why the hero has to be male. Let’s Ride completely rejects that assumption. Jo is confident, self-assured and has a dominant streak a mile wide, but she’s also a beautiful woman, inside and out. She rides into town and sweeps Mary-Beth right off her feet and into her bed. I love her (I know I’m not supposed to say that because I wrote her, but I really do!) and I hope you do too.

Let'sRideCompleted teaser

So here’s the blurb:

“I would do just about anything to be on the back of that bike when she leaves this place.”

Trapped in a small town life, Mary-Beth always knew there was something better out there. Then Jo rides into town and walks straight into the diner where she works. Sexy, dominant and self-assured, Jo is everything Mary-Beth wishes she could be. Their hot, intense meeting crashes through Mary-Beth’s small world and offers her the promise of a new start.

Will Mary-Beth leave everything behind and ride with Jo towards the chance of a new life?

Excerpt:

Standing by the window, I’m trying to take a lunch time customer’s order but my attention is caught by a bike riding into the gas pump out front.

I hold my breath. She is pretty much everything that I wish I could be. Tall and lean. Enough fuck you attitude to tame a horde of marauding Vikings. She straddles that bike like she was born to it, like she never rode a trike. Like she just stepped right onto all that horsepower and with a flick of her wrists rode off into the sunset, giving everyone the finger as she went.

I would do just about anything to be on the back of that bike when she leaves this place.

She kicks the stand and moves the bike smoothly into its stationary position, slinging her long leg over the back wheel.

I jump a little when our eyes meet through the window. I’m supposed to be taking this guy’s order but I got distracted, seriously distracted. She smirks when her eyes roam over the redness in my cheeks.

Heat has suffused my body; a fine sweat has broken out on my skin and I know I’m in trouble. So much trouble.

I manage to scramble my brain sufficiently to take his order and drop it off at the kitchen. Moving around the bar, I grab the coffee pot to do refills. I can’t stop looking at the door.

Will she come in? Or has she just come for gas?

Please let her come in.

I want to see her up close—I want to see her eyes—that flawless skin. I want to run my fingers over the black shaved hair on the sides of her head, run them through the longer top that she has greased back. I want to watch her eyes close with the pleasure of it.

I hold my nerve when I hear the bell ring over the door. I’m pouring coffee—it really wouldn’t do to spill it and burn a customer. I’m bent over slightly to reach the cup, and my skirt brushes against the back of my legs when she walks past me.

I smile distractedly as the customer thanks me, turning my head to see she has taken a seat at the bar.

Walking over on shaky legs, I smooth my damp palms down the front of my uniform apron.

She sits tall, resting her elbows on the counter. Her legs are open, one heel of her heavy black boots hooked higher on the stool than the other. Her jeans are tight, riding low on slim hips, well worn with a small rip over one knee. A tight white t-shirt stops a few inches from the waistband of her jeans, showing smooth lightly tanned skin that I desperately want to touch.

Her knowing gaze follows me as I move around the bar to face her. I can almost feel a pressure on my skin where it touches me.

“What can I get for you?”

“What have you got?” she asks in a low, husky voice. Her eyes lock on mine. Her eyebrows are like a raven’s wings, perfectly shaped, drawing my attention across her arresting face.

“Pretty much anything, as long as it’s deep fried and unhealthy,” I say wryly.

She laughs. The sound is low and rough and strokes over my nipples.

“Always tastes good, though, don’t it?” she replies. That smirk plays across her mouth again as her gaze drops to my lips. “I’ll just take a coffee for now. Think I’ll get something sweet in a little while…”

  1. If you had a free day with no responsibilities and your only mission was to enjoy yourself, what would you do?

That’s part of what I enjoy so much about working for Jennifer at Men For Hire. I don’t always have to work. If I need a day off, then I can usually take it with no problem. Hmm.. My ultimate day off? I’d probably take in a football game and then put in some hours working on my furniture building. I don’t get to do that nearly enough.

  2. What impression do you make on people when they first meet you? How about after they’ve known you for a while?

I’m a little quiet, so I think most people assume I’m either shy or not bright enough to handle much beyond manual labor. When they get to know me, I’d like to think they’ll realize there’s more to me. I like books, science, art, and film. I can hold up my end of a conversation. I’m a decent person, I’d say. And there’s not nearly enough of that in the world.

  3. What’s your idea of a good marriage? Do you think that’ll happen in your life?

Been there, done that. Failed miserably. I’m going to take a pass on this question.

  4. What are you most proud of about your life?

Life hasn’t always been kind. I think making it to the other side of those trials is what I’m most proud of.

What sort of trials?

Earlier, you mentioned marriage. That’s probably the worst of it. I got married young. My ex decided after nearly ten years of marriage that she much preferred the me that didn’t give a damn about money or bills or responsibility. It broke my heart.

Are you still in love with her, then?

Talk about getting right to it. Christ. But to answer your question, no. I think I just held on out of sheer stubbornness. We hadn’t been right in a long time. I just wish she hadn’t been so bloody brutal about ending things.

  1. What are you most ashamed of in your life?

You’re really into me talking about my feelings, aren’t you? This goes back to the divorce, not to beat a dead horse too much. My parents were together for decades. Still are. I hate that I failed at that.

  2. If you could spend the day with someone you admire (living or dead or imaginary), who would you pick?

My grandfather. He died a few years back. I miss him terribly.

  3. Do you think you’ve turned out the way your parents expected?

Not sure. They never really pushed me to be any one thing. They were of the ‘follow your heart’ school. I’d like to think that they’re pleased. I get the ‘We’re proud of you’ bit a lot, but I think parents are required to say that stuff.

  4. What do you believe about God? What do you suppose God thinks of you?

I’m not entirely convinced there’s anything up there. I’m one of those that wants empirical evidence and I’m not likely to get it at this stage.

  5. Is there anything you’ve always wanted to do but haven’t done? What would happen if you did it?

That’s a tough question. I’m my own man, so I basically do whatever I want to. I’ve got nothing.

  6. What’s the worst thing that’s happened in your life? What did you learn from it?

When I was sixteen, I was in a car wreck and broke both of my legs. My mate had been drinking at the time but like a dumb ass, I got in the car. Had a couple surgeries, and months of recovery. Drunk driving is stupid. We could have died. Never drive drunk. Never ride with anyone who’s been drinking. That’s what I learned.

  7. Tell me about your best friend.

Probably my brother, Thomas. He’s a year older than I am. Most weekends you can find me hanging out with him. We’re either building something or watching some sort of sports. He’s a good guy.

  8. What’s the worst thing you’ve ever done to someone? Why?

I really don’t recall doing anything that terrible to anyone. I’m kind of a pacifist, not to sound like a total pussy.

  9. What would you like it to say on your tombstone?

    He lived before he died.

  10. Describe your ideal mate.

She’d be beautiful, of course. Not just on the outside. The inside too. Smart, funny, motivated. Maybe someone who’s the creative sort. Someone who could offset my seriousness.

  11. What are you most afraid of?

Not finding anyone to settle down with. I want what my brother and his wife have. What my parents have. I’d love to find it. I’m being much more particular about it this go-round, though.

  12. What’s the most important thing in your life? What do you value most?

My family. They’re important to me.

  13. What do you like best about yourself? Least?

My ability to adapt. The other side of that, though, is that I never have to truly make a decision. I can just sort of let things happen as they may and then deal with the fall out.

  14. How do you feel about your life right now? What, if anything, would you like to change?

It’s a good life, for the most part. A little bit lonely. I’d like to meet someone, but lately I’ve been working so much that it’s been hard to even date. Maybe I should devote myself to that more.

  15. Are you lying to yourself about something? What is it?

A number of things, probably. The bad thing about denial is that you never realize you’re in it until you’re out of it.

  16. What trait do you most deplore in others?

Liars. I can’t stand them. I prefer the honest truth, even if it’s ugly.

Michelle Roth is a novelist from the Great White North (Toronto, ON). When she’s not disappearing into foreign lands, or making two perfect strangers that she invented fall in love, she’s probably curled up somewhere with a glass of wine and a good book.

In her spare time she is typically hanging out with her awesome boyfriend and their two equally awesome cats. She likes taking road trips to nowhere in particular, cooking elaborate meals then making other people do the dishes, and being nerdy on the internet. Her books are currently available on Amazon, Nook, Kobo, and any other place that sells absolutely filthy romance novels.

With deadlines quickly approaching, she goes on a weekend getaway to the beach to clear her head. She promises herself she will relax and find her true self again, along with some inspiration to see past her heartache and complete her novel.

Fun loving, Tyler Barrow, is vacationing in Montauk, New York. He is passionate about his career as a teacher and about surfing. He is instantly drawn to her and eager to find out why, even if it is only for the weekend.

Will Tyler be able to make Paige forget about her past? Will fate prove to be more than just a weekend fling even though they live on different ends of the earth?

Only time and a bestselling novel will tell.

Excerpt:

He got up and sauntered out to the kitchen, stark naked. It was how he’d slept, how he always did. He made his way around the corner and froze.

Standing in his kitchen, lightly tapping her fingers on the countertop as she waited for the coffee to finish brewing, was the most beautiful woman he had ever laid eyes on. Her straight, light brown hair draped over her shoulders. She was wearing boy short panties, revealing the bottom curves of a sexy, plump ass and a matching tank top.

Damn.

The side view of her breasts looked amazing in her tight shirt. She stood on her tiptoes reaching for a coffee mug from the top shelf. Tyler’s eyes traveled from the top of her head all the way down to her pointed toes. His breath hitched at the sight before him. All thoughts went out of his mind as he took a step…and tripped over the rug in the hallway.

Her eyes darted toward him, and she let out a high-pitched scream. She pulled a knife from the wooden block on the counter. “Stay back,” she yelled, holding the knife away from her, preparing for battle. “Who the hell are you?”

“Sorry. I didn’t mean to startle you.” Tyler put his hands in the air to show her he was unarmed and harmless. He tried to speak calmly to her, but his racing heart and the excitement he was experiencing was making it difficult. A small smile found his lips. This gorgeous woman was holding a knife to him and yelling at him, and it was turning him on.

The woman’s green eyes nearly bugged out of her head as she studied him.

Just then, Tyler realized he was naked. His hands quickly covered his junk—or tried to. His morning wood, turned full-on erection from seeing a beautiful woman in her panties and a tight-ass shirt, was not helping.

“Why are you in my condo?” she demanded to know.

“Your condo? It’s mine. I have been renting it for the past few weeks.”

She vigorously shook her head. “No, no, no. I just rented it a few days ago because it was available this weekend. The owner told me the renter left earlier than expected.”

“I told him I needed it longer than expected because I missed my flight home. Shit. I’m sorry. I—” Tyler took a step forward.

“Oh for crying out loud! Could you please put some pants on? I can’t talk to you while you’re naked!”

Tyler nodded and scurried back to his room to put on a pair of shorts.

When he came back, the beautiful woman was frantically pacing the kitchen, waving the knife around. “This can’t be happening. This can’t be happening! I am supposed to be unwinding. I have work to do. I have a fucking book to finish,” she ranted.

Get to know Jacqueline Anne…

Struggling through health issues, I discovered my love for reading romances. Writing then became my escape and in some ways, a depiction of my spirit. I enjoy creating strong female characters who overcome hardships, reflecting on some of my own adversities, trials, and triumphs. The relationships are sweet and sexy with characters who embody discovery, lust, trust, happiness, and love.

I lead a full and exciting life in Northeast Ohio. I love to bake, create, workout, dance, and read. I truly believe everything happens for a reason. My life can attest to that. Work hard. Play hard. Live life to the fullest each and every day, doing it all in a pair of 4″ heels ;). Who says you can’t have it all?

Stop by Kay Jaybee’s Place for Tasty Tasters #erotica #romance

Hot DogMany thanks to my lovely friend, Lucy, for allowing me to nip by to tell you about a positive feast of erotic activity going on at my place over the next fortnight.

For the past three years I have dedicated two weeks at the end of each summer to looking back over my own erotica archive, and that of my fellow erotica authors.

Not only is this a great way to read yourself warm as the summer nights fade into autumn, but it is a fantastic opportunity to discover what your favourite authors wrote in the past, and to introduce you to some new writers.

A-Taste-of-PassionYou will be most welcome to come along to my blog at www.kayjaybee.me.uk to sample a delicious menu of tasty tasters between 24th Aug and 6th Sept for 14 hits of erotic heaven!

I can promise you that once you’ve sampled this menu, which includes a hearty portion of Kd Grace, a mouth watering mouthful of Lucy Felthouse, an ice cream scoop of Ashley Lister, and more side dishes than you could ever eat from a host of other experts in the genre, you’ll be more than ready to skip the coffee and mints and head home for some afters of your own…

See you there….

Kay xxxx
