Undone by Destiny (Blue Star Shifters #2) by Allyson Young

Undone by DestinyBlurb:

Desiree lost her heart to Tahl before he moved away, pursuing a redheaded shifter. Devastated, she somehow managed to hope he got what he needed. Except, being part Fae, she now believes she’s cursed him. Tahl has returned, unmated, refusing to share what transpired.

When Tahl pursues her, realizing what she has always meant to him, Desi desperately avoids, her guilt—and refusal to be second choice—a deterrent to her heart. Her twenty-fifth birthday approaches, and hot from the chase, Tahl corners her. He triggers her heat and she must allow him to assuage it, however outraged and resentful she might be.

The redhead follows Tahl, refusing to accept his mating—he can’t be bonded should his mate die… The males fail to thwart the nefarious plan, and the true nature of both females is revealed. Only one bitch can win and keep Tahl’s heart, and Desi won’t lose.

*****

Excerpt:

Now that he was here, he was stalling, and he grimaced. Nothing much scared him, but the female presumably inside the cabin… He forced his feet to carry up the short set of stairs and opened the front door with a confidence he didn’t feel. Until he saw her.

Huddled on the couch, facing him, was his future mate, the most beautiful thing he’d ever seen—or scented. Cheeks flushed, hair now streaming in wild abandon and clothing awry, she glared at him, her rage muted by the trembling need radiating from her tense body.

“Baby. I got here as soon as I could. I—” His attempt at an apology was overridden as Desi lurched to her feet.

“It’s not fucking fair that I have no recourse in this, Tahl. It’s a done deal because you decided. You. And now I’m stuck with you. I have to submit to your … physical attentions so I can function.” She laughed, a harsh mimicry of her usual, musical burst of sound. The one he hadn’t heard in his vicinity for a very long time but had never forgotten. The dichotomy scalded his senses.

She stood, her body shaking, the hormonal flux pouring off of her, and he balled his fists to keep his hands to himself. A vastly angry Desiree was an incredibly beautiful and appealing female and his wolf seethed with impatience against her siren call. Tahl shoved his animal back and cudgeled his brain for something that would soothe her. Some sense of self-preservation kept him from offering his heart. It was quite likely she’d carve it out of his chest and eat it with a spoon.

His breath stuttered as with awkward, jerky movements, she yanked at the front of her silky shirt, the fine fabric rending beneath her impatient hands. She threw the remnants in the general direction of the couch before working at the zipper on her little skirt. The garment slid over her thighs to pool around her ankles, his avid stare tracking it as the black lace of her matching panties was revealed as well as the long length of her legs. She stepped out, nearly losing her balance, and kicked the material away.

This was so not how he imagined it. Throat dry, he closed the distance. “Desiree. Easy, baby. Let me—”

“You’ve done enough, Tahl,” she coughed out between shuddering breaths. “Now do what nature intended.” Her pretty bra popped open and her breasts were displayed. Sitting high on her narrow torso, they were in perfect proportion to the rest of her, though visibly swollen with need, the dark nipples beaded tightly.

Everything in him screamed to take her right fucking now, his cock so hard it hurt, his wolf groveling. Groveling. With inner strength he somehow drew from somewhere, perhaps his conscience, maybe his aching heart, he wrestled his libido into submission and hugged her instead. Trying to offer her comfort. His eyes closed against the intense draw of her soft, silky skin, the heat of her radiating intensely to the very marrow of his bones.

Desiree wrestled free, wild-eyed and flushed. Surely no other male would have been so fucking stupid as to trigger his future mate’s heat on the side of a goddamn highway and then leave her unfulfilled? He cursed himself again.

She scrabbled at the fine stuff of her underwear and it met the same fate as her shirt. Tahl drank in his first sight of the female who was his, all creamy skin and smooth curves, the soft dark hair at her apex neatly trimmed. But she was shaking harder, out of control, the scent of her arousal overwhelming him, and instinct took over.

With economic movements, he stripped off his own clothing. Desiree swayed, her eyes tightly shut as she panted through the tiny whimpers falling from her lips. He spoke her name even as he gathered her up and bore her down on the wide, soft couch, but she wouldn’t—or couldn’t—open her eyes.

There was no time, or need, or foreplay. He’d left her too long. Testing her preparedness with one finger, he grunted his satisfaction. Soaked. Her thighs opened wide for him as he maneuvered between them, her arms splayed and her head thrown back. She writhed, her wolf clearly right at the surface, and her whimpers escalated both in volume and quantity.

Recognizing the time for fucking couldn’t be put off by conversation, however necessary, he fit the weeping crown of his cock against her opening. Wet, sultry heat engulfed him as he surged inside on a desperate thrust. And froze at her muffled yelp.

“Fuck me, baby. Fuck. Me.” He wrapped her up, working his arms beneath her shoulders to tuck her as tightly against him as he could manage while holding his cock steady, giving her time to adjust. It was his turn to screw his own eyes shut in order to concentrate on not moving one fucking iota. He’d just taken her virginity, and even his wolf paused in its desperation to claim her.

Excerpt:

“What’s your name, sub?” I asked.

“Li … Lisa.”

I narrowed my gaze and stared down at her. “If you say so, Bella.”

“Bella?” Her head tilted to the side, her eyes slightly widened. “Is that a compliment?”

“You’re Italian, aren’t you?”

“Yes.”

“Then that’s what I’ll call you.” A light flush spread across her high cheekbones and she bit her lower lip. Goddamn cock sprung to full attention. “First thing you ought to know—and should have learned long before entering this club as a sub—your gaze belongs on your Dom’s boots, your knees on the floor.”

The bulge in my leathers snagged her attention as her head lowered and she hesitated. A shudder rippled down through her, but she sank to her knees with practiced ease, a waft of subtle sweetness, what had to be expensive perfume, floating around me. My mouth watered. Long, glossy dark hair cascaded around her downturned face. Her shoulders remained back and straight.

Trying to ignore the press of my goddamn zipper into my cock—and prickle of unease tingling the back of my neck—I glanced across the room at Devon, one of the few Doms who didn’t mind switching.

He lounged in a chair, drink in hand, but otherwise unoccupied. Bella’s appearance had already drawn his attention. He gawked like a starstruck lover at the goddess kneeling at my feet.

The idea of sharing the tasty morsel of a pseudo-sub twisted my gut, but the thought that touching her skin would definitely cause trouble overrode my Neanderthal side.

As though feeling my stare, Devon lifted his gaze to mine.

I quirked a brow in invitation.

He shot out of his seat with a shit-eating grin and strode across the room. He stood a good half-foot shorter than me, but we both had blue eyes, the same light hair, and square jaw… We’d enjoyed our fair share of women fantasizing about brothers.

“Master Devon, care to join us this evening?”

Chapter One

“Are you sure you’re okay doing this? It’s a lot to ask. You haven’t done this since college.” Lark’s best friend and business partner, Eli, sounded tense on the other end of the phone.

Annoyed, Lark sighed. She’d already agreed to his request, and they’d talked it to death. “Of course I’m sure. Everything’s great. I’ll be at your office tomorrow afternoon around three.”

“You know this is for fun. Just a bit of payback for Aaron.”

“Yeah, yeah. I got it.”

Lark strolled to her bedroom closet, eager to see a few of her favorite things. She slid the accordion door open, anchored her phone between her cheek and shoulder, and reached behind a wad of hanging clothes to retrieve a plastic garment bag.

As she unzipped it, she smiled at the exquisite silk and leather. She hadn’t worn the more risqué skirts and tops in her closet for a couple years. Not since her last boyfriend, who hadn’t appreciated the adventure in their sex life. But she loved wearing leather or spandex. The material slid along her skin, bolstering her confidence and sexiness. Her heart rate raced from zero to sixty in anticipation. Lark shivered, hit the speaker button on her cell phone, and then dropped it on the nightstand.

“Aaron won’t know what hit him. He’ll definitely understand the meaning of payback’s a bitch when I’m through with him.” Lark laid four outfits on the bed and pondered them.

Red, blue, and two black mega-short skirts with silk, midriff-baring halter tops—but which was best for a fun prank?

“Just don’t hurt him.” Eli’s gruff voice hinted at concern for his longtime friend, who was about to be punked.

“Don’t worry. I’ll treat him like my Chevy Impala, and shift him gentle.”

They both laughed.

She lifted the red set. Perfect. Lark got on her knees beside the bed to look underneath and reached in as far as possible. Once she touched the tops of the matching red stiletto knee-high boots, she grinned. This outfit topped off with her vibrant red wig would be the icing on the cake. Yes. She yanked the heels free from their hiding place.

“There’s nothing to worry about. You go do your business with Fairfax Motors and land us a new sponsor, and I’ll take care of your good friend,” she said.

“Aaron’s mentioned financially backing us, too. That’d be great for us.”

Lark sat on the side of the bed. “Great. We won’t turn away money. But—” she frowned. “You’re not pimping me out to score some green, are you?”

“What? Jesus, Lark,” Eli shouted over the line. “I’d never do that and you know it. What do you take me for? We’re business partners, for fuck’s sake, and have been friends even longer than that! Hell, you’re the top female racecar driver anywhere. I’m not biased either. Besides, I’m not a lame chump, ya know.”

She laughed. “Okay. Okay. Stop groveling, you big baby. I hear ya. Go make us some moolah. I need to get pretty for tomorrow.”

“I’ll call you around five to tell you how he reacted to the prank. And thanks, babe. You’re the best. I should be finished my meeting with Fairfax by then. I’ll be miles across town or I’d ask you to dinner.” Eli chuckled. “I should have set up a videotape to see Aaron’s face.”

“No freaking way, buddy.” She tossed her jeans and underwear into the hamper in the corner. “I’ll give you every delicious detail. Gotta run. Ciao.”

“Later.”

She ended the call, then grabbed her robe from where it hung on the bedpost and strode into the bathroom.

Lark loved this room. The white walls and floor tile sparkled in the sunlight shining from the skylight she’d had installed after moving in. It was her sanctuary—her getaway from the dust and sweat from the track, and the demands on her time—and where she did her best thinking. Plus, racing at full throttle almost every day made her shoulders tight and rigid, and she really needed to soak the tension away.

Her seventy-two-inch claw-foot bathtub had been the final nail in the coffin in her decision to buy this house. Some days she lived in her tub.

Lark set her belongings on the vanity and turned the taps to fill the deep, cast-iron oval tub. She turned and shed her favorite “Race Car Drivers Like It in Overdrive” t-shirt and sweats that Eli had bought her last year for her birthday.

She bunched her hair up and back with her fingers, tugged the long tresses into a ponytail, and then peeled off her bra and panties.

Pleased with the way the day had gone, Lark smiled. She’d accomplished the second win she needed to advance to the next round of competition. Excitement for tomorrow filled her. She and Eli always had a blast; they shared a twisted sense of humor. Pulling one over on his best friend was going to be a lot of fun: Lark was going to deliver a simple bump-and-grind lap dance that had him sweating. It’d serve Aaron right for pushing some dude on Eli six months ago, trying to prove Eli was gay. She wanted to avenge her best friend, who hadn’t yet admitted his sexuality. They’d touched on the subject a few times, but he’d adamantly refused to confirm. She’d never pushed Eli into admitting what she suspected was the truth. And the realization that Aaron had tried to force Eli into something he wasn’t ready for irked her.

Prank or not, she loved putting on her shit-kicker boots, dressing to kill, and putting on a good show.

Teaching someone a lesson or two added to the thrill of dancing sexy again and pulling off this prank. When she finished with Aaron, all he’d see was her taillights as she left him teased and confused.

Paybacks were such a bitch.

Random Meeting by Maggie Mundy (@MundyMaggie)

Thank you for having me on your blog today. I am excited to let you know about my latest release Random Meeting.

Random Meeting

Random Meeting is a romantic thriller about Beth and Greg.  Their relationship is haunted by a dead husband, a stalker, and lies.

Blurb Random Meeting

Beth is a widow and Greg is an ex-con. They are two lost souls who have a random night of sex together.  Nine months later they meet again.  This time, swear words roll off her tongue as she gives birth to their son. Everything changes when Greg holds Josh, but this isn’t real, they are not married, or a happy family. Plus there are ghosts on the scene who plan on taking possession of people for their own ends. Greg can offer money, but can’t offer love. Their relationship should be doomed, but sometimes the most unlikely of partners bring out the best in each other if they can only stay alive.

Excerpt

Greg’s lips were so close, and Beth wanted them on hers. No, she didn’t, but yes she did––okay, seriously confused here. His eyes gazed into hers, and she sensed he was waiting for her. It was just a kiss, but it had been so long. More than that, she needed him to stay and make her feel alive, if he left her alone, she might do the unthinkable. She moved forward and lips touched, just a feather-light touch. She trembled, he trembled, and from that moment, she was lost.

He moved back and smiled at her. They were like a couple of naughty kids doing something they shouldn’t. His strong hands held her face as if she were delicate porcelain as he ran his right thumb slowly along her bottom lip, then he leaned forward. His lips brushed against hers, caressing them from one end to the other. Alarm bells were ringing and saying this was much more than a kiss, but she decided to ignore them just for one moment, then she would ask him to go.

That was a lie, and she knew it.

His lips parted, and Beth tasted the sweetness of his coffee as she explored his mouth. She had forgotten how sensual a kiss could be as his lips pressed firmly against hers, and his tongue swirled and discovered every corner of her mouth. His arms encircled her waist, pulling her close as his body pressed into her. It was too long since she had felt a man against her, a man hard for her, wanting her. Her arms hung at her side. She didn’t trust herself to touch him. She didn’t trust herself to do anything. He pulled away, and she found herself leaning forward, her breathing rapid as her mouth and body ached and yearned for more.

“I’d like to stay, Beth. You don’t know me, but I won’t hurt you, I promise. I just want to be with you.”

She could tell him to leave, but he made her hot in places that had been cold for so long. Her need was frightening in its intensity. He stood still. She needed to be wanted by him tonight, even if he walked out the door in the morning. In fact, she wanted him to walk out the door in the morning. No one would know. Didn’t she deserve to have a night of passion with a stranger, to make up for all the pain?

“Yes.” Was that her voice? It sounded breathy. He smiled at her and then bent his head so his lips touched her neck. His tongue swirled on her skin, causing her to melt inside. Her body was hot, and yet she shivered. The yearning she sensed deep inside was almost painful, but it was a good pain. She was still alive.

He stopped and stood back.

“You’re sure about this? I can still go. I don’t want to make you do anything you don’t want to.”

Bio

I live in Adelaide, Australia with my husband, one cat, two dogs and a snake. I have a motorbike that I would like to ride more than I do and I love walking at the beach and listening to the waves.  I’ve always loved reading all forms of fiction from high fantasy and paranormal to contemporary and decided the stories in my head needed to be written down. It was either that or start on medication. Unlike many, I didn’t know I wanted to be a writer until a few years back.  I started off doing a degree in drama but soon realized my love was in writing, though there is a play lurking somewhere on my computer. My day job is as a nurse in the operating room. I believe romance can be fun to read and write, but it’s exciting to spice it up with the uncertainty that comes with suspense where the rules can be broken.

The Persecution of the Wolves Now Available in Print! #SSRTG #LPRTG #ASMSG

Hi everyone,

First of all – Happy New Year! I’m back in the office today after nine days off, so it’s taking me quite a while to get caught up on emails, admin and the like, but I’m getting there! I spent some of those nine days decorating my home office, just a fresh lick of paint and a new carpet, and it’s looking pretty damn good, even if I do say so myself.

So, although 2016 left off with more crappy news (the sad demise of All Romance eBooks – just Google it if you don’t already know and are curious), 2017 has started off well, as the fab folks at Evernight Publishing dropped me a line to let me know that The Persecution of the Wolves is now available in print. How awesome is that?

Here’s a reminder of what it’s all about, followed by the paperback links:

Werewolf brothers Matthew and Isaac have lived in the peaceful village of Eyam, Derbyshire all their lives. The villagers know what happens every full moon, and have their reasons for keeping quiet. But this secrecy comes at a cost—the brothers can’t risk romantic entanglements.

Then, at the full moon, a sheep is slaughtered on Eyam Moor, by what could only be a large animal. Even the brothers’ staunchest supporters begin to have their doubts about who—or what—could have done it.

As the brothers fight to clear their names, things are complicated by unexpected opportunities to indulge their lust. Isaac is intrigued by a handsome newcomer to the village, and a vivacious visitor is happy to offer Matthew her all.

Can the men prove their innocence, or is their centuries-old secret about to be revealed to the outside world, bringing their carefully-crafted existence crashing down around their ears?

Please note: This book has been previously published under the title Pack of Lies. The content remains the same.

Thrown to the Wolves by Naomi Clark (@naomi_jay)

Thank you for having me today! I’m here with my new Romance on the Go, THROWN TO THE WOLVES. This story was partially inspired by an article I read on Romania’s Hoia Forest earlier this year. It’s long been famous for paranormal activity, from UFO sightings to the strangely shaped trees. Some people believe it’s a gateway to another dimension, whilst others say it’s haunted by the ghost of murdered peasants. There’s a rich history of folklore and urban legend growing there, and so what better place to set a paranormal tale?

I’ve stayed away from UFOs and ghosts, though, and instead gone with vampires and werewolves. Well, it is Romania! In THROWN TO THE WOLVES, aspiring author and tattooed tomboy Paige goes hunting for inspiration. And she finds it…along with danger, ancient enemies, and of course, love. I hope you’ll enjoy my little venture into the Hoia Forest!

*****

Blurb

Paige went to Romania looking for inspiration for a book. She found herself caught in a horror story. Attacked and left for dead by a vampire, Paige finds herself at the mercy of Kata, a beautiful, enigmatic werewolf. Their attraction is instant, but Paige’s fate hangs in the balance. She may yet be turned into a vampire herself. Soon it’s clear to Paige that the only way to save herself may be to return to the woman who attacked her…even if it means placing both herself and Kata in the greatest danger.

*****

Excerpt

This was her rescuer, she guessed. She’d gone from the jaws of a wolf to the bed of a woman, so someone had rescued her. But there was nothing about this woman that said “safe” or “friendly.” She was regal, imposing, and her silence was intimidating. But Paige didn’t have it in her to sit meekly and say nothing. For all she knew, she could be worse trouble now, with this woman, than she’d been out in the woods or with the creature she’d fled in the first place.

The memory of the woman who wasn’t a woman made her shudder, and she touched her throat. She felt dried blood and a dull ache, and it forced her to speak.

“What are you?” she asked.

It was probably the wrong thing to say. She should have said thank you, or asked where she was, or even asked the woman’s name. But those questions didn’t matter even a tiny fucking bit. Not after the nightmare she’d found herself in.

The woman laughed, a rich sound that made Paige think, incongruously, of sticky toffee pudding. “You are smarter than I thought,” she said in heavily-accented English. “When you see a woman lost in these woods at night, you don’t think she can be very smart.”

Unnerved, Paige sat up slowly, pulling the rough duvet up with her. She was still fully clothed, she realized, but the duvet gave her a sense of security anyway. Stupid, but true.

“My name is Kata,” the woman continued. She turned to a small, rough-hewn table at the bedside. A jug of water and a glass sat there, and she filled the glass before offering it to Paige.

Paige ignored it, despite the dry thirst gnawing at her. “I didn’t ask your name.”

Kata gave her a mock innocent look, eyes wide. “Sorry. Perhaps my English is not so good.”

Paige thought Kata’s English was probably fine, certainly better than Paige’s Romanian. “What are you?” she asked again, louder and slower this time, in that ignorant manner so many Brits abroad used that she hated. Her voice shook as she spoke, but she managed to hold Kata’s gaze and she was proud of that.

Kata set the glass down and pointed to the wound on Paige’s throat. “You have seen things already tonight I think you would not believe, yes? So I will ask you, what do you think I am?”

Her voice was gentle, with genuine curiosity in the question. And Paige thought about it, and thought she could fall into hysterics or rage, deny what her heart already knew and claim it was impossible. It would be easy—nice, even—to do that, because twelve hours ago, she would have said it was impossible, and she would have laughed at anyone who told her otherwise.

The problem was, hysteria and denial never helped. Staying calm, acknowledging the problem and finding a solution, that was what helped, whatever the situation. And besides, wasn’t the bite at her throat proof that it wasn’t impossible? Wasn’t passing out in front of a wolf and waking up in front of a woman just further proof? Impossible wasn’t impossible anymore.

So she said the impossible words. “I think you’re a werewolf.”

About the Author

Naomi likes writing, perfume, fancy tea, and unfathomable monsters from the dark spaces between the stars, not necessarily in that order. She has been writing stories ever since she learned how to write, but is still trying to master the art of biography writing. When she’s not dealing with werewolves, demons, or sea monsters, she’s hanging out with her cat and probably watching a documentary about Bigfoot. If the cat isn’t available, she’s with her fiancé watching cookery shows and silently plotting her next book.
