To Swing or Not to Swing, That is the Question by Jennifer Denys

Kink After DinnerStanding before the door, she shook her fingers to calm down. She was equally excited and nervous, and ran a hand over her stomach as if to quell the butterflies.

Not too flabby. She hated her stomach—as did many women her age—but one advantage of a basque is that it held everything in. At least until she took it off.

She made a face.

Okay, but if I’m on my back the flab spreads out and doesn’t make me look like I have a beer belly. Must remember to avoid being on top.

This is a short excerpt from my latest short story ‘Kink After Dinner’. I had fun writing this story about a married, middle aged woman with a son at university and an 18 year old daughter who thinks her parents are old-fashioned. Beth suffers from hot flushes and an expanding waistline. This is very much taken from my own experiences (at least the menopause and weight gain – the only person in my household is Holly the rabbit).

However, Beth decides that life is too short. Shedding her inhibitions she takes up BDSM and ‘swinging’.

A final, hasty glance down the street confirmed there was no one about, and she knocked, slightly worried about entering this house. If her daughter knew this couple were swingers, then chances are others did—and what would the neighbours say if they saw her visiting on her own?

Hearing some footsteps, she said to herself in a resigned tone of voice, “Too late now.”

Wikipedia says that, according to 2005 estimates by the Kinsey Institute and others, swingers account for two to four percent of married couples with numbers in excess of 4 million people in North America. As of 2011, some experts believe that there are as many as 15 million Americans swinging on a regular basis. I have certainly met a small number of women who also have boyfriends as well as husbands or someone they co-habit with, possibly because of the nature of what we write and most of us being women. Generally it isn’t something I’ve ever heard a non-erotica writer admit to doing.

The phenomenon of swinging is regarded by some as arising from the sexual revolution of the 1960s, but much of what you read refers to ‘wife swapping’ rather than ‘husband swapping’ but just one section on Wikipedia talks about the wife taking male lovers.

Among the Bari tribe of Venezuela, when a woman becomes pregnant, the women often take other male lovers. These additional lovers then take on the role of secondary or tertiary fathers to the child. If the primary father should die, the other men then have a social obligation to support these children. Research has shown that children with such “extra” fathers have improved life outcomes, in this economically and resource-poor area of the jungle

(Hey, can I have two men to help me take care of the rabbit? LOL)

So, back to ‘Kink After Dinner’ – Beth meets up with her swinging friends and has a great time. Did I call on my own experiences in relation to the BDSM and ‘swinging’?……….I will leave that up to your imagination!

To find out more about what Beth gets up to here is the blurb:

Kink After Dinner. 8pm. Usual place. Wear the new purple basque – no knickers. Expect some SERIOUS (!) paddling. No touching until then. Master.

Beth hurriedly hides the note she has received so her family won’t see it.

Her daughter regards her parents as stuck in the mud. If only she knew!  When Beth decided to throw off her inhibitions she was able to thoroughly enjoy her middle years, despite the usual body issues, including attending a BDSM event and starting a relationship with a Dom.

Putting on her purple bustier and high heels as ordered, and covering up with a coat, she leaves her husband engrossed in his carpentry workshop to walk to a neighbour’s house. This is the home of swinging couple, Alistair and Helen, with whom she’s had several encounters over the past year. And this begins a wonderful evening of kink—bondage, spanking, paddling, handcuffs, and orgasm denial.

Then her husband turns up.

Sunday Snog – One Night in Paris

Sunday Snog

One Night in ParisIt’s time for another Sunday Snog, yay! This week, I’m sharing a sexy snog from City Nights: One Night in Paris, my M/F contemporary erotic romance novella from Tirgearr Publishing.

“Dubai won’t compare. Not even close. ‘Cos you won’t be there.” He reached for the room service menu, plucking it from her grasp. “Got enough energy for some more sexy time before we eat?”

Annabelle let the menu go without a fight. Standing, she kicked off her shoes and made for the bed. “If you have, I have.”

Tossing the menu down next to his phone, Jacob grinned. “Well that’s a resounding yes then.” Following her onto the mattress, he lay down beside her and pulled her in for a kiss. His arousal had been simmering up until that moment, but now it was boiling. Tangling his fingers in her hair, he nibbled at her bottom lip before slipping his tongue into her mouth. She tasted of the flavoured water she’d grabbed from a shop on their way back to the hotel. Strawberry, he thought.

The kiss was the most leisurely one they’d shared all day. It was still packed with all the heat and urgency of the previous ones, but none of the rushing. They knew they had a good long while before Jacob had to pack up and head for the airport, and although neither of them had actually said anything, he could feel that this time, their lovemaking was going to be just that—lovemaking. And he intended to make the most of it. Right into the night.

This week’s theme is a sexy summer fling. I’m sharing an excerpt from City Nights: One Night in Paris, my M/F erotic romance novella from Tirgearr Publishing.

Mercifully she was, and ten minutes later the arrangements had been made. Uttering his thanks down the line, he ended the call, put his phone down on the sideboard and crossed to the chairs, where Annabelle sat in one, perusing the room service menu.

Placing his hands on her shoulders, he gave them a little rub, bending to drop a kiss on the top of her head. “It’s sorted,” he said happily. “Diane managed to tweak the booking online so I’ll have almost two days here on the way back.”

Tilting her back to look at him, Annabelle’s upside-down smile warmed his heart. It was ridiculously early days for this relationship, but he had a good feeling.

What is it about Bridlington? by Slave Nano

bridlingtonWhen I wrote my story, ‘One Scoop or Two?’ for Smut by the Sea vol.1, I decided to set it in Bridlington, a traditional seaside town on the Yorkshire coast of the UK. Now good old ‘Brid’ is a typical English seaside resort just up the road from where I live and not exactly up there as one of the most exotic locations a smutty story has been set in. The thing is Bridlington fitted in so well with the idea for that particular story in which Kayleigh is disappointed when her boyfriend’s promise of a romantic weekend only takes her to Bridlington, though luckily their weekend gets an erotic boost when they get locked inside an ice cream parlour.

Immediately after the book was published I became aware of authors who had either used, or gone off to research, various exciting places for their books and I got very envious. I resolved there and then not to set a story in a place as un-exciting as Brid again. I would set a story in South of France, a Greek Island or the Caribbean and use that as an excuse for that all important and necessary research trip. When the call for submissions for Smut by the Sea vol.3 came out I started scouring the holiday guides for a sun-bursting exotic location that I simply had to visit to ensure my story would have that authentic feel.

So what went wrong? How did I end up writing another story set in Bridlington? The problem was rock pools. I just had the idea of basing a story around rock pools both because I didn’t think that it had been done yet in Smut by the Sea and also because I had personal knowledge of the perfect location. That place was Flamborough Head, just a few miles outside of, yes, you’ve guessed – Bridlington.

Now the rock pools beneath the chalk cliffs at Flamborough Head are a remarkable place. I’d been there a few times when it was possible to get down to the shore from the lighthouse car park. Now the coast has eroded quite a bit and that path is blocked off as it’s dangerous (though that doesn’t put Laura, the character in my story, off). When the tide is out you get a huge expanse of rock pools teeming with sea-life. I remember going down there exploring them with my children. It’s an amazing place and you really do feel like you’ve entered into another world, which is just how Laura and Josh feel about it in my story. So, Bridlington and Flamborough Head really were the perfect location for my story.

That’s it though – never again! If there’s a Smut by the Sea vol.4 I’m definitely going to find the most exotic location ever!

Smut by the Sea Vol 3Story Extract

That was the final straw.  Laura stormed off.  She wasn’t going to put up with that.  They could get a taxi to the next stop on their piss-up; she certainly wasn’t going to drive them.  In a furious mood she headed back to the guest house to get out of the ridiculous outfit.  The comments had hit a nerve though.  It really was a while since she’d been with anybody and, when she reflected on it; a year without sex, where had that time gone?

She knew where she’d go; where she often came out to at a weekend when she wanted some time to herself.  Shit, she realised, she’d been doing that way too much recently.  It was her favourite place though; a place where you could lose yourself and reflect on stuff or just get lost in another world.  This was the rock pools at Flamborough Head just a few miles up the coast from Bridlington.  She knew the tide would be going out, she’d already checked before she came out for the weekend, so the conditions would be perfect for a bit of exploring.

It wasn’t long before she got there.  She parked up and collected her fishing net and bucket for collecting and examining specimens.  Walking to the cliff edge she took a furtive look around her to make sure nobody was looking, pulled back the ‘Danger – Crumbling Cliffs’ sign and scrambled down the cliff face.  The clay cliffs were eroding here but it was the one point that afforded some, albeit hazardous, access to the shore.  Ha, health and safety!  She’d done it loads of time before.  And in some ways she didn’t mind; after all, the sign put everybody else off, which meant if you were determined or stupid enough to ignore it, you were guaranteed complete solitude at the most beautiful and absorbing place she knew.

Yes, she know all the facts and figures; the largest chalk reef in Europe, extending six kilometres out to sea, the most extensive kelp forests and some of the most varied and abundant sea life in the country.  But it was more than that.  This was a place where you could lose yourself.

She had soon scrambled down the cliff and stood at the bottom, a tiny figure, dwarfed by the vast chalk cliffs that towered over her.  She breathed in the sea air and already felt revived and invigorated.  The bastards, what a cheek.  That was it, she resolved.  She wasn’t going to hang out with that crowd again.  But she’d forget all that as she stepped carefully across the slimy carpet of seaweed covered rocks taking care to keep her balance.

She walked for a bit to stretch her legs, then after a while crouched down at the side of one of the larger rock pools.  It was like a window into another universe.  The kelp, dark and limpid on the rock surface assumed a life of its own in the rock pool.  The pools were teeming with life.  Laura was lost in her reverie.  The insults from her so-called friends had receded and were forgotten as she lost herself in this alternate world.

You’re Sexy and I Know It by Sara Daniel (@SSaraDaniel)

For me (and I’m guessing most people), physical perfection is something so far from being attainable I know I’ll never get there and don’t sweat the many imperfections on my skin and body. However, when I decided to set a book in the modeling world, I knew these flaws (and perceived imperfections) would play a big part in shaping my hero and heroine’s psyche.

A point struck me as I wrote this book, and again I think it’s true of most people. What a person sees as a less-than-perfect feature of their own body is beautiful and perfect (even sexy and arousing!) in the eyes of others, especially the people who care about them.

A Model HeroA Model Hero

Gretchen Meyers is a full-figured woman living in a model thin world. Desperate to end her mother’s constant, nagging stream of dieting and fashion “advice,” Gretchen tackles the challenge of reviving her mother’s faltering modeling agency. All she needs is to woo back Kyle Ramsey, once the hottest model in the country.

Making the preemptive choice to turn his back on his career seemed Kyle’s only option until Gretchen comes calling. He doesn’t care what she wants to offer him, the answer is no. Still, he’s intrigued by her refreshing personality and all her lovely, lush curves.

When tragedy strikes, Kyle finds comfort and healing in Gretchen’s arms. But he can’t trust her with his career-ending secret and she doesn’t believe their relationship will survive the long term. He’s perfect and she’s not even close. Can the fragile ties holding them together survive Kyle’s opportunity to become a true model hero?

Excerpt:

The restaurant scene, then, had done its job. Gretchen would have to send Jamie flowers. No, she’d send a box of fattening chocolates instead. “Did you enjoy your evening after I left?”

Kyle’s gaze narrowed, he pushed himself out of the chair. “Did you arrange with Jamie to drop by our table?”

“How could I, when I had no idea where we were going for dinner until we were there?” Not to mention, she’d have preferred to sever essential body parts than ask Jamie Feldman for anything. But her irrational possessiveness was her own problem. “The important thing is you had a good time, and you’re ready to make up for everything you’ve been missing over the past year.”

“Those things aren’t important at all.” He advanced on her slowly.

She took a step back and came up against the door she’d closed a moment before.

Kyle flashed a predatory smile. He took her purse and briefcase from her shoulder, setting them aside. Then he rested his forearms on either side of her head and stared into her eyes, his lips a scant inch from hers as he spoke. “I’m here for you. Our date deserves another shot.”

Her heart thundered. The thick eyelashes framing his gray-green eyes mesmerized her. He stood too near for her to formulate a coherent response. This much physical perfection and sex appeal should be outlawed. Her mind was not equipped to handle it.

“What do you say?” he asked.

Yes, take me. “I say, why me?” Her voice rose with an embarrassing squeak as she struggled to compose a rational argument and remind herself she was in her office, just feet away from her employees who’d never seen her anything less than one hundred percent professional. “I get why you went out with me on Saturday. You’d shut yourself away from the world, and I was the first woman to find you. But you’ve been reminded you can have Jamie or anyone else you crook your finger for. Why do you still want me?”

His gaze softened with a tenderness that pierced her heart. He brushed his thumb along her cheek. “How could I not want you, Gretchen? You’re smart and funny and beautiful and not afraid to let a guy who has no idea what you like order for you on a first date.”
