Crashing Hard By Kimberlie L. Faye

BLURB:

He’s a lifesaver

EMT Ryan Murphy is smart, sexy, and arrogant when it comes to his job and his personal life. Saving lives and looking hot while doing it isn’t always easy or glamorous. No one is immune to his charms except for one stubborn and uptight nurse, and he’d love nothing more than to get under more than just her skin.

She’s a lifesaver

Helena Carter is an experienced emergency room nurse and can handle any situation with calm, stalwart determination but just hearing Ryan’s husky voice is enough to make her look like it’s her first day on the job. He may be irresistible but she isn’t going to admit that fact to anyone else, especially him. He’s cocky, sarcastic, and nothing she’s interested in. Besides, the last thing she wants is a relationship right now, right? She fell in love once before and was taken for all she had. She’s not about to make the same mistake again. At least, that’s what she keeps telling herself.

After one scorching night of passion leads to a few misunderstandings, could the delicate pulse of their relationship come to a lethal halt? Can they get past this or will the new romance take a turn for the worse and crash hard?

EXCERPT:

Ryan waved over to the waiter, who winked and held his finger up and mouthed one minute. Ryan gave him a thumbs up. “I’m gonna order a real pizza.”

Helena’s eyes widened. “What would a real pizza consist of in your book?”

The white tips of his perfect teeth tugged on his plush bottom lip before he answered. What she wouldn’t give to tug on his lip with her own teeth. “Extra pepperoni, extra mozzarella cheese, and well done. I don’t like my toppings slipping off my pizza.” He winked again, and she smiled despite herself. No matter how many times he winked at her, it never got old.

“Well, I’ll have what you’re having. Hawaiian pizza is just…yuck.”

The waiter sauntered over to Ryan’s side and leaned in close to him. “What can I get for you? Your order is my command.”

Helena watched with rapt fascination as Ryan ordered, seemingly oblivious to the fact the waiter was flirting with him.

“You got it, hun.” The waiter waggled an eyebrow at him before strolling away.

“What? You look surprised by something.” Ryan crossed his arms and stretched his long, thickly muscled legs just under the table. He fidgeted, and his leg rhythmically tapped hers until she grabbed his thigh under the table. He stopped and ran his large, warm hand over hers on his thigh.

“You…your leg is banging mine,” she stammered.

He moved quick and whispered in her ear, “Is there something else you’d like me to bang instead?”

Her stomach flipped, and heat suffused her entire body. She squeezed his thigh and pulled her hand away and cleared her throat. “The waiter was flirting with you.”

“Yeah, so what?” He stretched his arms behind his head and was sitting back, relaxed with outstretched legs, and Helena wondered, for a split second, what it would be like to straddle him on the seat.

Helena took a nice, big gulp of her ice cold beer. She couldn’t get her mind out of the gutter when she was around him. “It didn’t make you feel uncomfortable?”

Ryan shook his head. “No, why would it? I’m flattered but not interested in him.” His mug froze part way to his lips, and his eyes widened. “You thought I would be rude or offended by his interest?”

Helena fidgeted in her seat. He was right, of course. She did think he would be an asshole about it. She looked down and picked at the invisible lint on her pants. “Uh, yeah, I guess I did think you would be rude,” she sighed and smiled sheepishly, “I’m sorry.”

His grin made her heartbeat quicken. “You’re forgiven as long as you help me eat this pizza.” The flirty waiter placed the pizza down with a flourish and perched his hands on his hips.

Ryan’s eyes widened. “Wow, that was fast.”

“Like I said, hon, your wish is my command.” He raised a perfectly shaped eyebrow in Helena’s direction. “You’re a lucky girl.”

“Oh, we’re not together.” She reached over to take a slice of pizza and almost knocked over her beer, catching it before it soaked everything on the table.

The waiter pointed at her and bent toward her as if to impart some secret information. “Well, you should be because he is hawt.”

Ryan coughed. “Umm, I’m right here and can hear you.”

The cheeky waiter turned with a flourish and walked away with the expertise of a runway model and muttered over his shoulder, “I know you can hear me.”

“Then can you bring us some hot pepper flakes?” Ryan and Helena spoke at almost the same time. They started to laugh, and the waiter whistled low and walked away to retrieve a bottle of red pepper flakes from a recently vacated table.

Helena dragged a steaming slice of pizza onto her plate without almost spilling or knocking over anything and thanked the waiter when he handed the bottle to her. She sprinkled the flakes all over her slice. “You’re not what I expected, Ryan.”

He bumped his shoulder into hers. “So does that mean you like me?”

She winked at him and gave him a sly smile. “Maybe?” She caught Rosa’s wide-eyed expression and held back a giggle. She never giggled. Giggling was for little girls but after a large beer, she was giggling like a school girl. Yeah, she was flirting with the last guy she should be, but what could it hurt? She was an adult and had every right to lead on whoever she wanted. Heaven knew Ryan did, didn’t he?

“Well, I like a woman who isn’t afraid of eating something spicy.” He nodded his head at her slice of pizza, almost covered entirely with a layer of hot pepper flakes.

A chunk of hot cheese bathed in tomato sauce landed with a thump on her left breast before she even got a bite to her mouth. She looked down at it with a wince. It was hard to be flirty and sexy when you had a clump of hot cheese searing a hole through your shirt and bra. It might as well be lava and she bit her lip and resisted the urge to swear profusely and yank her shirt off. She’d have to grin and bear it and deal with the first degree burn later.

“I’d be more than happy to lick that off your shirt.” Ryan’s husky murmur caressed the shell of her ear and tickled her ear drum. Goosebumps erupted all over her and suddenly the idea of yanking her shirt off didn’t sound half bad.

She bit back a smile and took the napkin he offered to her and wiped the mess off her shirt. “I’m sure laundry detergent will do the job just fine.” She dipped a napkin into her ice water and wiped the cheese off, and a red sauce stain was left behind, bright and obnoxious. “I can’t seem to eat anything without wearing it.”

Mid Week Tease: …there was nothing ordinary about Mia’s life these days. #reverseharem #whychoose

mid-week-tease-buttonHi everyone,

Welcome back to Mid Week Tease! This week I’m switching to a new book. Mia’s Wedding, the second book in The Heiress’s Harem series releases on Tuesday, so I’m sharing from that for a little while. It’s up for pre-order, and if you buy your books anywhere that’s not Amazon, I’d highly recommend pre-ordering, since the book will be removed from the other retailers on release day so I can put it into Kindle Unlimited soon after. I don’t want anyone to be disappointed.

Mia's WeddingMia had just put the lid back on her lipstick when her phone pinged, signalling a text message. She smiled—a few seconds earlier and it might have startled her and made her put lip colour on her nose or something. Not a good look. The message was probably from Elias or Alex, letting her know they were on their way. She put down the lipstick and picked up the device.

Running a little late—don’t be mad. Will explain when I get there. E xx

Mia’s smile faded as she absorbed the contents of the message. She wasn’t mad that he was running late—it sounded like it would only be a matter of minutes, and he’d had the decency to let her know. No, it was the other part of the message that concerned her. That he had something to explain, and that he’d said I get there, rather than we get there. Alex was supposed to be coming along, too. Unless they were picking him up next? His place was en route for Elias, so it’d make more sense to go to him first, then on to Mia’s. She shrugged—she’d find out what was going on soon enough.

Furious. Might not answer the door now. Will make use of Deliveroo and watch Netflix instead.

She added a winky face emoji, followed by one blowing a kiss, so he knew she was joking, and sent the text.

No sooner had she put the phone down than it pinged again. She rolled her eyes—did he have a good comeback for that? Probably—he was the king of witty retorts.

The message wasn’t from Elias, though. It was from Thomas.

Don’t want to disturb your evening out and… after, so I’ll say goodnight now, and I love you. Have a nice time—look forward to seeing you when you get home. Tom x

Mia’s heart skipped a beat, as it always did when she saw, heard from, or even thought of, Thomas Walker. Most people would find it odd—to say the least—that a woman’s boyfriend was texting to say he hoped she had a good evening when he knew she was going out with two other men. But then there was nothing ordinary about Mia’s life these days.

EXCERPT:

He reached for her, and she undid her buckle and straddled his lap in a heartbeat, just as eager as he was.

She gripped his face between her hands and stared him down.

“You’re not a creep or a weirdo. You are so fucking special, and I’m not running anywhere.”

Then she kissed him, lips aggressively seeking his own. The memory of her lips that he’d been tending in his mind since yesterday was blown away by the reality. He hadn’t pictured taking her in his truck, but never let it be said he wasn’t flexible. She met him kiss for kiss, thrust for thrust, grinding her sweet core against his rock hard cock, making him curse the denim holding him prisoner.

Her ass was wedged against his steering wheel, and he took full advantage of her relative and willing captivity. He reached his hands under her shirt, needing to see, to touch, to taste her gorgeous breasts that had driven him crazy all morning, happily peeking out of her shirt.

When he discovered the lacy concoction that held them in place, he was surprised by the feminine detail given her usual tomboy exterior but so damn grateful for yet another erotic image to tuck away in his memory.

Lowering his head, he dusted kisses across her collarbone while his fingers tried to free her from the pink lace. One pert nipple escaped only to be captured by his lips seconds later. Her groans and the grip she had on his hair as she wrapped her arms around his head, holding him to his task, was all the encouragement he needed.

He was beyond thought, a mass of burning need. This woman wasn’t afraid of his strength or his size. She was taking what he was giving and pushing him for more. He wanted to give it to her. The thought of giving it to her over and over until she cried out in pleasure almost set him off. He boosted her up, trying to get her skirt out of his way, and got distracted from his plan by her gorgeous bra-framed tits thrust up against his chin. When she leaned back to give him better access, he was derailed by a far less pleasant sensation. The sound of his horn blaring made them both jump. Startled back to reality, Trina clambered back to her side of the truck.

“This isn’t working,” she said, tugging her bra up and her shirt down. He hissed as she slid her skirt back down to her knees. His cock was not a happy camper. It took every ounce of restraint not to follow her to the other side of his cab. He closed his eyes and gripped the steering wheel reflexively as if that could keep him in check.

“Hey.” Her voice called to him, soft and a little shy, and he opened his eyes. She had her purse and her phone in one hand tugging on the door handle and was pulling a moving blanket over the back of the seat with the other. “Are you coming?”

“Dear God, I hope so.” He opened his glove box, snagged an emergency condom, and followed wherever she wanted to lead.

A Far Cry from HomeBlurb:

Regan Ferguson knows little past running The Inn, her home since her adoption. Again orphaned, she’s dealt another blow. Her father never repaid a loan, the recipient being Maddox Ferguson, her newfound, sexy cousin.

Intrigued by the woman he never knew existed, Maddox is awed by her tenacity and determination to continue with The Inn. He makes her a loan to give her the opportunity to learn for herself how impossible the task, rather than personally destroying any chance to explore the connection between them. However, he quietly lines up potential buyers as a fallback plan.

Regan eventually has that epiphany, only to accidentally determine Maddox’s plan. Feeling betrayed and confused, she secretly signs the buyout and hits the road with her cat, Oscar.

Maddox follows, and without The Inn between them they find their happily ever after—Regan learns that home is wherever her heart is.

Excerpt:

She stuck out her hand, and he fancied she saw it as an olive branch. The hostility she’d initially projected was gone, and he took the opportunity to encroach into her space. Clasping her small, work-roughened hand in his much larger one, a frisson of energy sparked between them and he felt her quiver.

Fascinated, he watched as she strove to regain her composure, while he allowed his desire to show. Staring into her eyes, the pale-blue of her irises consumed by the dilation of her pupils, he read her need. He tugged her to his chest, the clean smell of soap and water, and something uniquely Regan, wafting from her.

Her head tipped back and he dropped his mouth down on hers, the immediate connection hardening his flesh to the point of pain. She relaxed into his hold and he tasted her with desperate intent. His fingers wove through the silky mass of her hair, holding her steady, and she moaned deep in her throat. She pressed closer, her arms wreathing around his neck.

He somehow brought it to a close, over long before he wanted it to be, but his conscience pricked hard. He’d promised her the time and money to bring The Inn up to snuff, somehow unable to resist. And now he’d honor his commitment, intuiting the importance of this woman determining her own destiny. Not a fling, not like with his other women.

His libido jeered and prodded at him but knew to allow nature to take its course. Wherever this connection with Regan was going, he wouldn’t hurry nor derail it.

As they both caught their breath, he gently set her away from him, his hands on her lithe waist, until she steadied on her stool. “I normally don’t seal business deals with a kiss,” he said, aware his tone held a certain rasp. Clearing his throat, he continued, “It’s been a … momentous day.”

Her slender throat working in a swallow, she said, “I’ve never sealed a business deal before.”

He knew she wasn’t experienced and doubted she kissed every man she’d just met with fervor and without meaning anything by it. Aching for her, he clamped down on his physical need and did his best to appear suave and unruffled. “We have a deal, Regan. I’ll bring my things in and get settled while you get organized. You’ll need a material list, among other things.”

Visibly drawing her composure around her like flexible armor, she slipped from the stool and turned her back on him, clearing away the dishes on the island. “Sounds good. I’ll just tidy up and then sit down with pen and paper. Lists are good.”

Holding hard on to his own equanimity, he nodded and headed out for his car. Some fresh air would clear his head and cool him down.
