My Sexy Saturday #89 – It wasn’t quite where she’d seen herself… #MySexySaturday

My Sexy Saturday

Welcome back to My Sexy Saturday. This is where writers post either 7 words, 7 sentences or 7 paragraphs from their published work or work in progress. Here’s another snippet from my latest novel, Eyes Wide Open. It follows on directly from last week’s.

It wasn’t quite where she’d seen herself when she’d decided to take a chance and move to London for work after graduating from university. But while she figured out her next career move—or any career move—this would have to do. It served a purpose—paying her a paltry wage, just enough to cover the rent and bills on her scummy flat, and food. There really wasn’t much left after that, so her social life mainly consisted of vegging in front of the TV with her flatmates.

They’d club together their miniscule amount of disposable income to buy some cheap, supermarket own brand lager and swap stories, either about their pasts or about how their current situation was just temporary—just a stepping stone on their way to success, to high-flying, ridiculously well-paid jobs in the banking world, the publishing industry, in PR, advertising, acting, production, tourism… The list went on.

Fiona was just as determined to get a foot on the career ladder, if not more so. She’d rather scurry back home to her parents in Birmingham with her tail between her legs than stay in this dump for much longer.

Mid Week Tease: Christ, it was only the hottie with the blue eyes. #MWTease

MWTease15Hi everyone,

Welcome back to Mid Week Tease! Here’s another snippet from my latest novel, Eyes Wide Open. It follows on directly from last week’s.

Eyes Wide OpenUnable to speak, Fiona waved a hand to try to signal that she’d be okay, but unless the guy was a mind reader, he’d have no luck figuring that out. Blinking through the tears that marred her vision, her urge to hide underneath the table grew stronger.

Christ, it was only the hottie with the blue eyes. And, if she wasn’t mistaken, his sexy friend with the green eyes was also hovering close by, concern etched into his handsome features.

Managing to drag in a breath, she huffed out, “Thank you.”

Just then, Jeremy arrived with a carafe of water, complete with ice, and poured her a glassful. “Here you go, Fiona. Drink this. Are you all right? Anything else I can get you?”

Reaching for the glass and taking it up in a tentative grip, she took a tiny sip of the freezing cold liquid, hoping it wouldn’t make her cough again. She seemed to have gotten a handle on it, though her now-sore throat wasn’t at all happy with her. Taking several more tiny sips, she let out a sigh of relief, as it seemed that her mortifying bout was over. Then she moved on to bigger gulps, buying herself some time to think of something witty to say, anything to convince the three men looking at her that she wasn’t some kind of imbecile who couldn’t even manage a glass of juice without choking.

Unfortunately, her creative brain, which had been on fire up until she’d started lusting over the hotties, had taken its leave. So she decided to opt for the truth. “I’m so sorry. I didn’t mean to disturb you. My juice just went down the wrong way, that’s all. I’m fine, really. I’ll just finish my drink and be on my way. Thank you for the water, Jeremy.” She aimed a weak smile in his direction.

Blue Eyes turned to Jeremy. “Yeah, thanks, buddy. If you need to get on, we’ll keep an eye on her for a bit, make sure she’s okay. Don’t worry.”

My Awesome Trip to NYC #holiday #vacation #reading

How I coped with a 3am start.

(Click on any of the photos to enlarge them)

Hi everyone,

If you follow my blog/social media, you’ll know I recently went on a week’s vacation to New York City. I’d been saving up for it for a while as a special trip – and it was amaaazing! I wore out a pair of shoes with all the walking, but it was worth it 😉

I’m not going to write a huge blog post about everything I did because that would take aaaaages, and I’d rather spend that time writing some fiction and lining up some more releases. I’m sure you would prefer I did that, too, huh? 😉

Perving on Philip Winchester

Perving on Philip Winchester

Here are a few highlights: Central Park, Freedom Tower, 9/11 Memorial, the fact that there were tons of ads for new shows Blindspot and The Player everywhere, so it meant I got regular glimpses of Sullivan Stapleton and Philip Winchester, boat trip around Lower Manhattan, providing fantastic views back to Manhattan, and of Liberty Island, Ellis Island, Governors Island, New Jersey and Brooklyn, the New York Public Library, the Stonewall Inn, Cathedral of St. John the Divine. And last, but certainly not least, the reading I did. Rather, I left this until last because this is what I wanted to expand on.

Reading from Eyes Wide Open

Reading from Eyes Wide Open

It all happened rather quickly (as did the booking of the trip in the first place), but the fabulous Lori Perkins runs a regular reading series in NYC, and as soon as I knew I was going Stateside, I dropped her an email to see if I could take part. Long story short, she said yes, and organised an absolutely amazing evening at the People Kitchen & Lounge, where I debuted a reading from Eyes Wide Open. My fellow readers were as follows. The lovely Laura Antoniou, who read from her work in progress. D. L. King, who also read a snippet from her work in progress. Mara White, who I wasn’t previously familiar with, read from her latest release. And Debra Hyde treated us to a section from her Charlotte Olmes (F/F retelling of Sherlock Holmes) series. It was amazing to meet all these lovely ladies for the first time – D. L. King in particular, as I missed her last time she was in the UK. I had a fabulous evening meeting and chatting to like-minded folk, and am very grateful to Lori for pulling it all together in record time. I loved every minute and felt rather famous after Lori’s fantastic introduction!

L-R: Laura Antoniou, Lori Perkins, D.L. King, me, Mara White, Debra Hyde.

Me trying authentic American iced tea for the first time. I didn't like it. Prefer the regular, hot, British kind ;)

I was also fortunate enough to spend some time with the gorgeous F. Leonora Solomon. We’ve met before at Eroticon, so again, once I knew I was heading to NYC, I touched base with her. She came to the aforementioned reading, and also, bless her, trekked all the way across Manhattan to have breakfast with me and my other half on the day we were due to go home. It was fantastic to have that extra time with her, chatting about everything and nothing, about smut and not smut. And I think she was rather a fan of the deli we chose to eat in!

Overall, I had an absolutely fantastic time in NYC. I walked miles, took a ridiculous amount of photos, wore out a pair of shoes, and, happily, gained plenty of inspiration. I’ve already started writing a story with a Manhattan setting, and I’m sure as months and years pass by, there will be more – inspiration often strikes me waaaay after I visit a place. I didn’t quite get to see everything I wanted to, but hey, it’s an excuse to go back, isn’t it?

Happy Reading,

Saturday Spankings #70 – His skin was pink and fast turning red. #SatSpanks

Saturday Spankings-467x200Hi everyone,

It’s time for another Saturday Spankings, which is where authors post eight-ish sentences of a spanking on their blogs. Here’s another snippet from my latest novel, Eyes Wide OpenIt follows on directly from last week’s.

With a regularity of rhythm clearly born of practice, he brought the strings down on James’ backside with a thwack. Then again, and again. Not just on his bottom, either. Blows landed on his shoulders, his sides, his back, his thighs. His skin was pink and fast turning red.

As the pieces of the jigsaw in Fiona’s head fit together with a resounding clunk, she found that, once again, although some questions had been answered, what was unfolding right before her eyes raised many more. Ones she knew wouldn’t be answered for a while yet.

After all, it couldn’t possibly be good manners to interrupt someone getting whipped in order to assuage one’s curiosity, could it?

I hope you enjoyed that snippet! You can grab the book here. And then see the below list to hop to the other authors taking part…

My Sexy Saturday #88 – …a chance to try to woo Prince Harry would not go amiss. #MySexySaturday

A shame, really, as a chance to try to woo Prince Harry would not go amiss. She was sure those mischievous eyes and smile hid a multitude of sexy sins. His grandmother would not approve.

Abandoning her cloth with a sigh, she reached for a newspaper one of the patrons had left behind. There was hardly anyone in, as usual, so no glasses to collect, tables to wipe, or bowls of nuts to refill. A flick through the paper was her only source of entertainment. Or at least the only thing to stop her going completely out of her mind with boredom.

Mid Week Tease: …the fine clothing was practically an orgasm for the gaze. #MWTease

MWTease15Hi everyone,

Welcome back to Mid Week Tease! Here’s another snippet from my latest novel, Eyes Wide Open. It follows on directly from last week’s.

Eyes Wide OpenContinuing to surreptitiously peer at the men over the rim of her glass, it hit her that this was the first time in months that she’d looked at a man with interest, much less two men—and at the same time! But, ready to snatch her gaze away if one of them happened to glance at her, she realized that it wasn’t surprising that the pair had attracted her attention.

The tailored business suits would draw the eye even on an ugly guy. But on these two, the fine clothing was practically an orgasm for the gaze. They sat opposite each other, and their angle to her meant that she had a view of both their profiles—lucky her.

The one to her right had very dark, almost black hair, with a bit of a curl to it, a long straight nose, a trimmed goatee and, if she wasn’t mistaken, deep blue eyes. It was hard to tell for sure from this distance and perspective.

The one on her left had lighter, shorter hair, stubble that by some magical feat still looked smart, and the most sinful lips she’d ever set eyes on. And speaking of eyes, she thought perhaps his were green. What she wouldn’t give to go and check both of them out close up, preferably naked.

Shocked at her own sudden lustful thoughts, she inhaled more than drank another sip of the juice. Unfortunately, it hit her throat all wrong and she almost slammed the glass down as she started to cough. She tried so hard to suppress the cough, eager not to draw attention to herself, that she made it worse. Snatching up the thick linen serviette from the table, she held it to her mouth as she spluttered in a most embarrassing manner, and tears began to roll down her cheeks. By now, she was sure that the whole damn restaurant was staring at her, and she wished the tablecloths reached the floor, like the ones in the restaurant upstairs, so she could hide under the table until she regained her composure.

Swallowing repeatedly to try to soothe her irritated throat, she gasped as a gentle hand laid on her shoulder, which set her off all over again.

“Oh God,” came a voice. “I’m so sorry. I didn’t mean to make you jump. I just wanted to make sure you were all right. See if I could help.”
